Well, there is some things. Skill and money. For anyone who things using any kind old weapon easy should try it against someone who can use it fairly. Not that easy at all.
And a bard would be a lucky one to be able to afford having a good weapon and one or a set of intruments along.

The orlesian bards of Dragon Age are the only realistic kind of battle and song oriented class I have come across in my years in fantasy.

I know for certain that we have at least one bard on CotH (Lari).

There are no magical skills associated with being able to sing, play music, and provide entertainment. Just the usual Hunter-style woodsmanship. However, if you've been around the planet and have fought enough to have stories to tell, you're definitely going to be able to take care of yourself on the road.
