Gaining a Prestige: Feedback.
#16
Oo! I found something I can suggest!

We remake the prestige class template!

This is mostly due to the fact I was looking to gain a prestige title, Tinker for Sebastien, and there was one question on it which really had me stumped and I ended up thinking "Right, it's not that important. . .". The question was "How do you plan on using this ICly?:", I had no idea how to answer it so I ended up simply giving up and tossing my idea to the back of my mind.

As a gladiator, Saif would be able to train others if one can convince him IC'ly. OOC'ly I'd be up for it for sure.

Just my opinion.

Gonna give my two cents about this.

Don't.
Don't.. Make it simple.

Being a Prestige class is a position of widely recognized importance. The fact of the matter is diversity is not warranted when it comes to them.. Almost every class in the list was rare.. Unusual.

Simplifying the process and allowing more Prestige classes to exist will result in a dilution of regular Classes. You're not special anymore because everyone else.

My prestige disappeared..

Edit; Unless we go ahead and decide..
One Prestige Class per player.

One Prestige Class per player?

Then its not really Prestige...its just a Class if everyone has at least one

The amount of difficult gaining one prestige class should scale based on what it is with the least difficult to gain ICly being the easiest to get OOCly and vise-versa.

Yes, yes it's still prestigious.
There exists over 47 Prestige Classes, some with different subsets.
Choose one, you'll never have access to the other 46+.

Also, it's not like GMs will accept all who apply for Prestige.

I agree with this whole heartedly, I really do.
It's just not as hard to be a Gladiator as it is to be a Light Slayer, more then likely.

Even so, the process required to become a Prestige class should still be extremely difficult, even for the simplest Prestige classes.

Mine will definitely be denied.

Agreed. I understand you want to redo the system so that it's easier for people to get, but don't. Redo it so it's more Streamlined but still not easy. And I particularly like the one prestige per PLAYER, not account. For all you multi-account peeps.

Oh and I've got no problem with making more ways to acquire it. Be it through in-game rp or Forum Rp. So long as it is still challenging and strict.
Wow. Sometimes I forget the past.

Okay maybe this, since people are saying they'd like custom prestige. AND everyone wants a prestige that has visual effects. Maybe if we do create a prestige we request adding abilities to our char. Such as. I'd like a human hunter. I.E. I'd like to request tame beast for my char.

Well Gm's would ask if you had a good story, or maybe someone would produce an application/proposed char sheet in a sub forums in the char profile forum. And if passed they could grant their abilitiy. Maybe depending on how the spell was would see how much training was required. And if it wouldn't be a big deal then maybe less. Like it would be easier to believe a warlock could use blink because he learned it while he was a mage. Maybe having that request a char can be granted that ability. Might be a lot of work on GM's if thats the case than nevermind. Doubt prestiges will be coming out like hot cakes though. But if the whole point is to make prestige titles slightly more assessable this might not go over so well either. Just an idea that could be tweaked or something.

2 reasons that id like prestiges to remain very rare. 1. If everyone is special, no-one is. I've run into 3 or 4 prestiges in game out of the hundreds of characters, and so that was awesome when I did, and you knew they had done a lot to get there. If every other class becomes prestige, it will make non-prestiges the minority. Grim vision, maybe i'm overreacting, but still.
2. The GM's are already swamped with profiles and introductions, this seems like just adding a third big chunk to their pile if we make it so, so many get prestiges. If its very rare, its not so much of a big deal. :)

It sort of depends on the prestige in question. Demon hunters running around everywhere is a nono, but why not have, oh, a Technomage or six? Not a lot of harm in them.

Only that if they are not rare, then I can't see the point in putting effort into being one :P Hard to be different with 6 others running about. there are around 37 prestiges, with around 2 or 3 of each maybe thats over 100 characters, but im worried that a very select few are gonna be vastly overpopulated D:

well thats why one of my proposals would be to pick and choose OOC abilities to encorporate in RP within reason with your character. The more drastic leap it is from your class or difficulty to obtain or magnitude in power. It would be that much harder or easier to obtain. Just a suggestion for those who wish to "create their own class" a subject that I saw brought up before.

And I agree, I think prestige titles should be be hard to get depending on which prestige. Some prestiges I don't understand, like some of the warrior melee types. Maybe druids could learn the ghost wolf form for example to rp an additional form. I don't know just throwing random ideas in the air.

The classes aren't supposed to be unique in that way. At least, I don't think. o.O Overpopulation of one if it's too easy to get is bad, sure, but at the same time, putting a character limit on how many people for one prestige is just unrealistic. If someone has the heart, and wants to do it, then why not?
