The Veridian Circle

This guild is based around everything but Druids of the Wild. This means before and during the Third War, almost all druids were night elves. (Most are still night elves, though many Tauren and a few other races now take up the path.) Night elf druids were organized into different subgroups, each with its own totem animal — the most famous, and most influential in the Third War, were the druids of the claw and the druids of the talon. Since the war, night elves (and other druids) realized that diversity might be a better option. Now, druids no longer organize themselves by totem, but instead incorporate many different animals and animalistic aspects into their repertoire. Some call themselves druids of the wild to represent their breadth, but as this approach is now standard, mostly they're called just druids. Some druids, however, still follow totemic creatures. Some are old night elves who don't see the point of expanding their views, while others are new recruits who wish to specialize. (These variants also represent druids from earlier ages, such as the Third War or the War of the Ancients.) The Druids of the Fang, now infamous for a catastrophe in the Wailing Caverns, is the largest druidic group that retains a totem, but Druids of the Claw and talon also exist.

Iunar Starclaw, a Druid of the Antler, realizes the declining number in Totemic Druid and seems to be a supremacist, believing that Totemic Druids are much more powerful than a Druid of the Wild. Becoming increasingly disturbed by the foothold that the blood crazed orcs are having in Ashenvale she decided to bring together those few Druids who survived the Third war and lived on to keep their Totemic druid ways and help reclaim Ashenvale as their own. Along with the cleansing of Felwood. This lead her to become affiliated with the Emerald Circle, a group of druids dedicated to the cleansing of Felwood. Though the reason she simply does not join the Emerald Circle is because she has more than one goal she is dedicated to. Along with the cleansing and reclamation of Ashenvale she is dedicated to the preservation of traditional Kaldorei culture. This means, sending Kaldorei out to find their spirit animal and go through their right of passage if they have not already. If her guild has time to spare they will join the Silverwing in the battle against the Orcs.

Iunar realized, after the many years she had the group of Totemic Druids that few Tauren and non-druids are inquiring about aiding her and her goals. She did not wish to turn them down, and so her friends had advised she split the guild into two sects. As it was already a federation of totemic druids. She agreed, as it would bolster her numbers if the opened the ranks to others. The non-Kaldorei sect was home to Tauren, summoned creatures, (Such as Wisps, Keepers of the Grove, Ancients, Dryad and Shamblers). This non-Kaldorei sect was not treated indifferently, they were often put to work considering most their numbers were wisps. Mainly as guards for the outpost and construction workers. Of course this sect does not take part in any of the major events within the guild such as the changing of the weather, dancing, and other spirit boosting festivals which circle around Kaldorei culture. Though this sect is respected to an extent and not treated with total xenophobia. Iunar is very iffy about allowing Tauren to join, as they must have the utmost respect for nature and it's creatures. They will undergo much scrutiny and observation during their trial period.

The other sect consists of only Kaldorei, and within that sect their are two ranks in which the Kaldorei are seperated. Those who are unable to fight, or have no experience are of lower rank. They are the fletchers, tanners, cooks and ballista makers. They aid the war effort indirectly. They are the ones who pray for the Druids and higher ranked Kaldorei, (though of course, they all pray. . .). The higher ranking Kaldorei are usually those behind enemy lines, Deadshots, Infiltrators, Wardens and any priestiege class. The Druid sect treats the Kaldorei sect indifferently. This sect goes hand and hand with the Druid sect.

To be initiated into the guild one must go through a sect specific, or Class specific ordeal which will prove your ardent, and stalwart belief in purifying and preserving the forest. Along with this specific objective one must plant, and grow a tree in honor of Cenarius, the Dragons, and the Deities.

Totemic Sect

As previously mentioned, this was the sect that the guild was first based around before Iunar saw it best to expand the range of Kaldorei they would accept. A druid with an individual totem in which they put all their faith and effort into revering, those are the Druids who reside within this sect. This sect is divided by each totem. Each totem has a certain task they must perform within the guild to be awarded a rank and totem fetish.

• Claw •

The Druids of the Claw worship the Eternal Bear Twins, Ursoc and Ursol. Most continue to wander the paths in which Ursol and Ursoc walked before the destruction of the Well of Eternity. These Druids seek the carvings and ale-wells in which these eternals left behind as they wandered the vastness of Kalimdor. These druids focus on a less subtle prowess, power. Thus these druids are most likely to be found fighting face to face with a demon, up close and unfaltering. Iunar has most likely found these members wandering about, and paying homage to a few carvings in which Ursol had made during his pilgrimages. Once proving their passion for their totem, and the protection of Ashenvale they will be rewarded with a small petrified bears claw and with it a rank within this sect.

• Talon •

The Druids of the Talon worship and revere Aviana. Aviana was once a simple raven until chosen to be a messenger of Elune and transformed into the deity she is today. Druids of the Talon may take the form of any bird, though their main totem is a Stormcrow. Druids of the Talon are mainly messengers and spys for the Kaldorei, and thus they are in the guild. Most of the Druids of the Talon are stationed near sites of interest, spying and returning with valuable information. These druids are rather volatile on the battle field and mainly spell casters. These druids are usually given a task to be initiated into the guild, such as gathering Intel on a fel-festering demon ridden scar. Or flying great distances to fetch an object of seemingly no significance. These druids are rewarded with a sash of vibrant plumage from their bird of choice, and the petrified head of a bird on a necklace.

• Grove •
Though not much is known about these Druids, what is, though is that they ardent revere Cenarius. This group originated in Darnassus, however Arch Druid Ranferal had decided to send the totemic group to aid in the battle for Alterac Valley, and she did follow as she was the leader. These Druids of the Grove are said to be able to summon a massive Ancient of War by the name of Ivus, the Forest Lord. Perhaps they revere him as well. The totem for these druids is a tree, and they are able to summon large amounts of treants to aid them in battle, along with taking the shape of these creatures. What they have to offer in battle is very limited, along with the summoning of treants they often take the more subtle job of healing wounded Kaldorei. To be initiated into the guild, along with the regular planting and growing of a tree, they must kill a demon wearing nothing but armor derived from foliage. They will be rewarded with a small wooden vial containing one drop from the well of eternity along with a rank within the guild.

• Fang •

Those druids uncorrupted by the Nightmare. And those who were aloof to Naralex during the time in which he was corrupted while attempting to heal and restore the Barrens to its natural state are the druids in which reside within this totemic sect. This sect has taken the snake as their totem. Some abandoned the caverns and knew it was dishonoring to their totem. Like all druids, they revere the dragon aspects with none in particular. On the battle field, and within the guild they are the ones who commune with nature, speak with the animals and plants to figure out the general state. They are the ones which follow behind the blood and carnage of the Druids of the Claw to mend the earth while the rest of their Totemic brotheren venture forth to slaughter all the demons in their path. To be initiated into the guild the druids are sent forth to mend a small patch of adulterated land which had been cleared prior to their joining. Once they have accomplished that they are given a snake-skin cloak, and a fang necklace.

• Antler •

This sect of druids is rare, and elusive. Druids of the antler are mostly aloof to society. They are mostly found residing deep within the forests, mending scarred land. They are pacifists, seldom fighting. Though they are powerful guardians when they need to be. They follow the wise ways of Malorne and revere him. Their totem animal is that of a stag, and may take the form of one. They are considered diplomats, as they often solve conflict between warring tribes, and carry messages between them. Much like Malorne. In order for these druids to be initiated into the guild, they must stay on guard around the base for an entire two days without breaks. When this is complete, they will receive a pair of antlers, adorned with reagents and various totemic fetishes.

Kaldorei Sect

As previously mentioned, many non-druid Kaldorei who share the same candid passion for reclaiming their homelands have been flooding in to join the federation. Iunar had no clue that she would attract such ardent defenders of the forest. Though she was very pleased at all the inquiry's. She did not hesitate to accept the help, though she did not know where to place all these Kaldorei. She decided to add a sect to the previously all druid federation for the general Kaldorei population. This new sect of Kaldorei have no dedicated themselves to a certain area of expertise. This sect encompass a lot of helpful craftsmen, and some fighters. This sect is split into two categories, the craftsmen and non-druid fighters. The craftsmen supply the Druids and other fighters with bows, food, weapons of all sorts, armor and tend to most of the animal companions when their "Owners" are inept at doing such. The fighters are just that, Hunters, Deadshots, Priestesses and so forth.

• Craftsmen •

As the numbers of the all Kaldorei guild grew (and was soon to be accepting of Tauren), the need for craftsmen became more apparent. They needed more people who specialized in fixing armor, tending to animals, tending to the outpost and fixing it up when needed and so forth. These Craftsmen would prove to be a great asset to the guild once they are readily available. Iunar accepts craftsmen into the guild without hesitation. As long as they cease from starting any kind of drama, and wishing to be a hero they will not be required to go through any sort of initiation. The Kaldorei who reside within this section could be a fighter who does not wish to fight. Such as a hunter who wishes to remain passive, however use their abilities to aid the circle by tending to companions.

• Conscript •

This sect is home to the Kaldorei who inquired about joining the circle for the sole purpose of aiding the Druids in the fight against the demons. They are mostly all fighters, save for the priestesses who had enrolled as healers. Because there is such a variety of Kaldorei who inquired this sect does not have a certain objective or role to play in battle. Considering that this sect consists of Deadshots, Infiltrators, Beastmasters, Hunters, Brawlers, Druids of the Wild, and Savagekin. This sect is often responsible for guarding the outpost, or scouting along with the Druids of the Talon. The Priestesses go hand and hand with the Druids of the Grove and other healers who indirectly effect battle.

Misc Sect

This sect encompass a few helpful aspects to the guild. The summoned creatures, companions and horde players. This sect is not treated very indifferently by the Kaldorei in the other sects, and is seen as superficial to the battlefield. This sect is very outre to conventional Kaldorei culture, as this sect seldom practices it. This sect was born once Iunar met a Tauren who was aiding the Emerald circle. He had a small party of three, a Tauren shaman and another Tauren Druid. They had interest in aiding Iunar and mending Felwood, along with driving the remaining demons who scourge Ashenvale. She had befriended the Tauren by then, and dedicated a sect to him, and his party, this would draw in a Tauren of two who wished to join the Circle. She was very hesitant to accept them in, though she put them under constant scruitinous eyes, along with difficult tasks to prove their unfaltering loyalty to the earth and forest. Usually they, along with the wisps and shamblers, will be put on guard duty or made to build, or grow something within the base. In any case, the Kaldorei look onto this sect with conspicuous mistrust, though accept their aid without hesitation.

• Tauren •

This sect is dedicated to those few Tauren who joined the guild and have dedicated their efforts to our goals. They may asccociate themselves with the Veridian circle, though they may not take part in the Kaldorei traditions. These tauren druids mostly indirectly influence battle, healing and mending the earth, or healing wounded conscripts and druids. Most pride themselves on being accepted into the guild, as they go through such scruitiny to join and prove their worth. Though they are not allowed to join in on the Kaldorei traditions and festivities they are allowed to hold their own, and their own beliefs. However this sect is not allowed to take a shan`do of any sorts if the race is Kaldorei. Shamans are also accepted, though treated as a Tauren Druid.

• Summoned and Misc •

This catagory is where the summoned aid falls into. Summoned Keepers of the Grove, Dryads, Shamblers, Ancients and so forth. This sect consists mostly of wisps and along with the Tauren sect, often sent to build and scout around the base, or tend to the Druids and earth. This group could be considered the peons of the guild, though they are treated with respect. This sect has a few hunters and stable masters in it to tend and care for the summoned animals along with the druid companions and pets.

Blizzard meant for all the druids you play to be Druids of the Wild.

Which is why you have so many forms. (Moonkin, and Saber do not have totems.)

Quote:Before and during the Third War, almost all druids

A totemic druid is not a pristiege(SP, please.) class in any way.
A totemic druid is simply a druid who reveres, and puts their faith into one totem.
Be it Bear, Bird, Tree, Stag, or Snake.

I personally see no reason that we could only be Druids of the Wild. But if we're going by game mechanics. .

Well I think it's a server mechanic. Once again, I'm not sure.

We have allowed totemic druids in the past. I know of at least two Druids of the Talon and three or four Druids of the Claw offhand. Furthermore, the notes that we released regarding the staff's categorization of each of the prestige titles lists totemic druids as being a part of Category I, which is the one intended for classes people can start out as and acquire without staff direction or guidance.

The only one we have restricted in the past were Druids of the Antler, mostly because there is no hard evidence of their existence. They were only briefly touched upon in one of the roleplaying game manuals (and were described as being a rumor) and, as such, are considered mostly unobtainable. They are the only type of totemic druid that hasn't been given tacit approval.

As such, I see no issues with totemic druids as long as they are reasonable and accurately portrayed.

I'm fascinated by this, and I'm glad to see that there is a druidic guild coming to the server. I feel like this guild could bring more needed RP to Kalimdor. I'm not sure how you can get into the guild as a Tauren, but if you do want one I play one, though it just depends on what happens ICly. At least with me it is that way. (I never join guilds as a player, but as a character) There is a great deal of conflicts for druids and with changes that are happening to Azeroth right now and in the next update to WoW, I think that the guild will get a ton of RP events and happenings due to the way things are now and are probably going to be in Cataclysm. For now I'm going to be reading your awesome site, which is full of great stuff. (Many of the things I've read so far I couldn't or haven't found on WoWwiki.)
