Circle of Discord

OOC Information:
Welcome to the third iteration of the Circle of Discord! I’ve been back for a few short weeks and it’s been a blast to get back into things so I thought I’d make a formal post reviving my old organization so that we can hopefully gather together a number of unsavory types to go on some evil adventures and cause a ruckus.

So, what is the Circle of Discord? This time around we’re running as a more personal organization working with Cedric on his latest grand plot by collecting numerous artifacts and pieces of knowledge in the pursuit of power and immortality. With the financial backing of Black Wolf Acquisitions we travel the globe hunting down and stealing precious objects wherever they are found. This gives us the freedom to drop in and RP almost anywhere other people are present.

Policies:
1. The obligatory separate IC from OOC. Win or lose keep everything in perspective. It’s fine to get pissed when things don’t go your way, it happens, especially if you invest a lot in your character but recognize that is the case and take a breather. Afterwards come back and ponder your situation again, it may not be as dire as you first surmised.

2. Issue public and persistent character warnings often, to almost everyone regardless of if you intend to actually engage in malicious activity or not. It helps to be consistent, and always clear that interacting with you can mean trouble. This helps to avoid any meta-gaming. Always remember, issuing a character warning means accepting one yourself.

3. Before you ruin any character’s day permanently discuss it with them OOCly and if possible attempt to find a solution that satisfies them, that’s probably the best policy to prevent drama. Naturally there are cases where what they want is silly or it’s not worth bothering but by and large people are willing to work with you.

4. When in doubt strive to provide your own RP for yourself and others! You can always find a reason to be almost anywhere doing almost anything, so take advantage of that. Hook up with comrades and go on a mini adventure to tell us all about it later! Find important information useful to the group, feel free to make up hooks however you see fit.

Organization Information:
“Welcome, and know that you are now amongst friends and colleagues, no longer shall you fear, no further shall you run, here you will find sanctuary from those that hunt you. I will be your guide while you tread these halls and tell you the story of our family.”

Master
He is our father, and there will be no other. It is his word that is law, and his teachings that we follow. We give him our lives and in return we are rewarded with the shelter he has created, and the rewards and knowledge that follow. Should you ever be fortunate enough to meet the Master in person, you shall address him as ‘Master’.

Elder
Below the Master are the Elders, they serve as instruments of the Master’s will and manifestations of his power. Their knowledge is vast and they have proven their loyalty time and again, if you are respectful, if you grovel just enough, perhaps one shall offer you their patronage. To receive an Elder as a patron is to be marked for great deeds. But always remember your debt, for to betray your benefactor is a grave taboo indeed. To speak to one of the Elders is an honour above your station, but if you ever do, you should address them in a manner of their choosing, or simply ‘Elder’.

Anointed
On further are the Anointed, they represent the bulk of our family. Anointed are those who have passed all the trials and claimed their position as one of our revered brothers and sisters. They are educators, associates, and specialists, so on and so forth each with their own talents to be used to further glorify our Master. Succeed as an initiate, and you may well reach this station, and do not mistake it for one of weakness for even within the Anointed there are those who are powerful. The shrewdest, loyalist, and most talented of the Anointed can one day hope to become an elder in their own right.

Initiate
Finally, there is the Initiate, who must still succeed with their trials. An initiate may be taken on by an Anointed as their student, or, in rare cases, an Elder may also do the same. Should such a relationship be created it is expected the Initiate will honour their benefactor, as betrayal of this kind is looked upon with much distain. Once an initiate has survived for a time and proven their loyalty, the elders or the Master may choose to recognize them as official members of the family.

In addition to these ranks, there are a number of stations, these will grow and shrink as the Master wills it. When a member of our family receives one of these titles, you may refer to them either by their rank, or by their title.

A Teacher is one who has taken on a student and helps them walk the path, it is a role that is highly respected, do not belittle them for their forthcoming of knowledge, they grow our art and help weed the weak from the strong, revel in their presence, and bath in their knowledge for it can disappear all too quickly.

A Shade is one who takes solace in the shadows, they are spies, scouts, assassins, most do not know the art, but they believe in it to the core. They are loyal agents of the Master, and do not mistake their lack of the arcane as weakness, for just as spells may kill a man, many all too easily forget the threat of the blade.

Now that I have explained the basics, you must remember the three rules of our family, to break them is to be subject to unimaginable pain, then death, and finally damnation of the soul to servitude for now and forever, so listen closely:

No member shall ever kill another without explicit consent of the Master, to do so is to be a traitor to all. We are not beasts, this is the first tenant.

All members must endeavor to protect the interests and secrecy of the family, this is the second tenant.

All members shall seek to glorify those who have tread the path before them, it is their duty to respect the knowledge of their Elders, one must never forget their place in the way of things, this is the third tenant.

Recruitment:
The bulk of the actual recruitment will probably take place IC with casual encounters and run-ins. If you’re interested in getting involved just pop on and arrange such an event! Alternatively, if you were a member of the original Circle of Discord hit me up with a whisper and we can discuss you how found your way back to the new organization and such. If you have any other unorthodox ideas feel free to PM them to me as well, I’m generally open to anything.

Updated, we have a guild tag now. I didn't really want to use one but I think it's probably the best way to keep ourselves organized, of course not everyone will carry it and people are still free to carry other guild tags as well.
