OOC Guild Names
#16
Xigo Wrote:...Then might I propose that a rule be created, where all 'guilds' must be named after an IC group. Like we can't have the 'Crusaders of Azeroth' group have their guild named 'Character Warning', for example. Their guild must represent the group's name.

Something I thought of is groups that have inner groups within them. Say a corporation that mostly works for donations, but on the inside, actually has a secondary group that are covert assassins. Well, they would just be attached to the 'mother' corporation, and thus their guild name would reflect that.

Say the 'Crusaders of Azeroth' have a sect of assassins that call themselves 'Assassins of Azeroth', but are very much still part of the Crusaders. Well, then they would be part of the Crusaders main guild, and would not need to make a whole 'nother guild.

So your cabal of Warlocks can be in a guild named 'Priests of Azeroth' as long as they masquerade as Priests, or rather...they're somehow attached to the guild name.

Basically, just make it so the guild name has something to do with the characters within it. Yeah...I'm bad at explaining things.

Regarding 'personal guilds', the ones where it's 'The X'. Your title must relate to a title, class, or social standing. You cannot be 'The Badass'. You can be 'The Archmage' or 'The Steamwarrior' though, as long as you allow others to join said guild should they acquire those titles.

A sound plan?

Basically what it boils down to, Xigo.

And to answer your question Miss Miah, there are two reasons.

The first is that when Character Warning was made it was for a guard character in the crypt. The tag was completely serious- if you were caught as an enemy to the crypt by him, your character was likely going to die. Now though the tag is being handed around rather loosely, to people who really don't need to have it.

Second is that it falls under that category of an OOC Guild, and I will not tell someone to do something and then have myself do the exact opposite.

I don't see the Character Warning guild having purpose but if people want to join thats cool. I understand. But when I was rping with one of their members they showed up to me and wanted to kill one of my alts right away. Then when they saw I was with Reigen's "Lost Minded" they -really- wanted to kill me. Which is ridiculous.

I can't hate on anyone wanting to kill Reigen as Jidaeo wanted to for like 3 months. But that was RP. I think people want to kill the char because she's killed like 13 people. And then just wanting to kill my char for no reason is just asinine. I don't knock killing characters. I want to kill your characters, all of them. But I will only do so if there is an excellent RP reason to do so. But if your guild is to describe your char or what they're apart of Icly even if your the only member I think thats fine. But being in a guild named Character warning ( just for example ) is redundant. Not hating on the guild, I just think the tag itself is unnecessary.

because I have the same efficiency of your guild by typing " /1 character warning"

my 2 cents but who listens to me anyway.

To be honest, I was of the belief myself that it always had been like that.

Sounds good to me, I really don't mind titles as it's something I can always turn off, (Options -> Interface -> Names -> Guild Names in case anyone was wondering) but it's great if they make some sense at least. ^.^

...Maybe I got the jist of the guild wrong, but I didn't think my guildtag extended to anyone outside of the guild. As in, I thaught it meant any character could attempt to kill me, but I still ask permission if they themselves are not part of the guild. Eh, still sad to see it go.

Now I wasn't here for these <Character Warning> guilds and whatnot so I can not comment on said topic.

But I was expressing my concerns towards things such as:

And then you got the people who attempt to "troll" by trying to justify guild names like these.

I do not know the guild leaders of these guilds, but I hope they are good people.

I'm afraid I likely wasn't there to see all that, as like I said, people joining it has become rather loosely watched, with other people able to invite.

Again though, in it's initial conception it was for a single character, who was a guard, and I treated him like a guard. In Stormwind and Orc would not be allowed any kind of decision to back down and run, if the Orc is in Stormwind, odds are they are done for. The same thing was applying for him, and I wanted a bit more reinforcement of that, redundant or not.

And indeed, Kainue, those really shouldn't be there. I believe it has gone out of hand, since the first few tags like that we kinda just let slide, since we found them humorous.

Always been willing to disband my OOC guilds off the bat when complained about, this one such as Pwetty Wainbow Pwincess, since their only functions are to provide easy ooc chatter with a couple of my friends without having to be in a party/channel at all times, and lastly my annoyance with seeing players OOCly classify my as "recruitable" to their guild, because I lack a tag over my head (rather than being just an RPer).

This new restriction will prevent me from forming those little chat-groups, but I will comply, and step down from all my OOC tags, and return to my IC, but solo-guild tags.

I was about to say in that screenshot that neither of those players have logged to those characters since October. I am guessing they -might- have not gotten the memo and we shouldn't jump on their throats just yet.

Jeff, you can make your own chat channels for OOC chatter. Like those who couldn't get into Skipper's guild could /join pirateswebe for our own chat channel.

I'm aware, and this is now what will happen.
