The Flight of the Valkaysar
#1
Flight of the Valkaysar

And other short stories.

Like hell I'm landing in snow. Shit's cold.

Behind the plate glass, there was nothing but moving white. If the pilot was well learned in artistic value or eloquent as perhaps a mage or writer, they would liken it to a shifting painting, each protrude stark outward like the constantly moving paintbrush. However, the pilot was thinking one thing, over and over again to herself. Her hands were glued to the joystick, and since her vision was out of whack, her eyes were glued to the instrument panel. Altimeter was decreasing, but her CDI was spinning endlessly. All vision was completely gone as a small human woman was flying over Dun Morogh, somewhere. A snowstorm had kicked in and she was visionless. Her RMI was pointed north, however, when she tilted to turn, it shot to south. Useless. In fact, the only things that seemed to be on par were her altimeter and her turn indicator. One thing was on her mind.

Like HELL I am landing in snow. Jacobson can go toss himself.

It was moments later when her radio went off, the sound crackling and buzzing through distance.

"VALKAYSAR. LAND. NOW." It snapped, and she reached over with a sharp hand, grabbing the black radio piece.

"f**k you! I'm going to land when I damn well feel like it!" She said back, and put the radio piece back to pull up. Her altimeter rose slightly, but returned to drop.

"Are you stupid or just daft? This is an order to LAND." The radio said to her, and she furiously grabbed the piece.

"If he thinks i'm landing in snow, he's wrong." Elena Valkaysar said to nobody in particular. Her mother once said she could be anybody she wanted to, and do anything she wanted to. After a few weeks of trying to explain to her why she couldn't be the king of Stormwind, Elena wanted to be a pilot. Her mother, already fragile from sheer exhaustion of putting up with her only child, caved in. Here she was, years later, absolutely not landing in snow.

Out of nowhere, a break in the clouds hit. Elena looked up with surprise, eyes wide, as she shot out of Dun Morogh, possibly inches over the mountainside, and began to fall.

"OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" She snapped, all she could manage before her plane hit Menethil Bay.

Moments later, the eject button she hit while falling, finally snapped to life and burst the young girl out of the water, and into the sky, as the parachute opened, floating gently down to the harbor.

People pointed and laughed.

Flight of the Valkaysar

Part II

I told him I wasn't landing in snow.

There Elena Valkaysar sat. On a small white stone at the edge of a building in Menethil Harbor, she sat with her chin on her hands and her elbows on her knees. Her plane was resting at the bottom of the harbor, probably stuck there for the rest of its rustic, miserable life. People walked around, most of them no longer stopping to stare at the girl who had fallen from the sky, dripping wet. She moved her burnished cream hair from her eyes, grimacing with a hard, pouting sigh. In the way, two men rounded a corner, both Goblins, both in black suits and sunglasses. She looked up, only a slight distance up, as they stopped in front of her, arms behind their backs.

"Elena Valkaysar?" One asked in a grunting voice. Their expressions were stoic.

"Yeah, what do you want?" She responded, clearly sending the message of exasperation through her voice. It was at this time the second one pulled out a flat, manilla folder and handed it to her.

"You've just been served." The second one said, and they both walked off. Immediately hating herself for admitting who she was, Elena opened the folder, a white paper inside.

"You have been formally summoned to appear in Mimiron Anchorage court by SATURDAY, DECEMBER the FOURTH. Failure to show will result in a heavy fine. The offenses are listed below.

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT
INSUBORDINATION
DANGEROUS FLYING
HARBOR DAMAGES

~

Thank you for your time, signed,
THE MIMIRON'S ANCHORAGE COURT OF LAW."

She threw the whole paper into the street, where it was promptly run over by a moving steam tank.

Son of a b***h reported me! f**k!
