Mechanical Body Parts for DKs
#16
I have an idea that seems to work. Pistons that are pushed by gases from boiling blood.
/nod
Oh come on. It makes sense even OOCly, and WoW is a fantasy world. Cut me some slack, it'd work. It'd be hard, but it'd work.

Binkleheimer Wrote:Blood Magic from a DK isn't that advanced. It's literally, boil blood, explode it or heal from it.
Sadly, you can't do awesomely fancy stuff like that. It's all combat practical.

I give you knowledge from Binkleheimer. Blood Boil isn't there to help you make an arm that moves. It's a rune that causes the blood of your target to boil. It would also require constantly being energized in order to achieve the desired affect, which still wouldn't work, as it would be uncontrollable, even if it were possible. Which I still stand that it isn't. Also, I don't really see how it makes much sense OOCly... I'm quite engineering-focused, and while the idea makes a little sense, blood removed, it wouldn't work when you add in blood. Blood doesn't really produce gas when boiled... It just... Well, it turns to dust.

Well then can I get your opinion on a mechanic design that could work?

I mean just the other day you were contemplating if an android was possible on Kazuru's profile (it didn't work out in the end but still). It's a fantasy game, it has it's wiggle room, so it could work if I just got the right idea.

I don't think it will work. The Necromancers would have no need to keep something bad on them, so they would just attach a regular arm to him.

Mmh... I've already stated my personal opinion on what would be most effective. There are... Possibilities... That could work. Don't mind the further brainstorming that will take place in my post. Spoilered for annoyingness.

Spoiler:
Alright. This started with a basic prosthetic. Electrical signals, which power a typical prosthetic, will not work here, as the nerves in the body are dead. Those are replaced with Unholy energies, of sorts, that allow control of the body. The easiest way, if you want mechanical, is to power it with Unholy Runic magic. This can't be done without a Techno-insert-class-here, which makes this out of the question, as there are none of those on the server. You could have some sort of a battery built, then, to replace the Unholy energy, which would solve the issue of power, but then there's the problem of connecting it to be powered by your will... This could be solved with some sort of direct electrical link to the brain, but I'm not 100% certain if this would succeed. This brings us to the laat real possibility, in my mind: pneumatics. Powered by pressurized oil, you can make this thing move at varying speeds, with varying amounts of power. It will never be as powerful as his actual arm, however. This still leaves us with the issue of wiring a connection directly to one's brain, so it can be powered.

Alright. There you have the rantings of a madman, or whatever. The only issue is powering this damn thing. There are plenty of plausible mechanisms, but few plausible power sources.

If you can find lore info on the Mo'arg you might be able to apply the same engineering practices on a DK. But by the looks of their equipment, you're not going to end up with a pretty toon.

Amusingly, the idea of an orc nearly dying and his engineering comrade saves him by removing the parts from a Mo'arg and putting them on the orc ... an Orc with a buzz saw for a hand ... I shudder at the carnage that would follow.
