An interesting post about the Elves. I was hoping High Elves would have been available when World of Warcraft first came out, if they were I would so have been shooting arrows at orcs and not trying to be a Legolas rip-off. Blood Elves though I am not sure, I found both they and the Draenei to be odd additions to the two factions (basically to me it seemed like Blizzard could not decide on what races to add).

Night Elves are okay I suppose, but I was hoping the playable Alliance races would have been made up of the original races from Warcraft II

Draenei were meant to be the Alliance's 'monstrous' race.

Elves were meant to be the Horde's 'pretty' race.

As evidenced by how many BElf players and how few Draenei players (outside of ERPers) there are on retail, that's worked.
