So, the event idea started as a joke.
Nexi transformed one of my characters, Callahan, in a cat on GMI. The nickname Cattahan was born.
Then, others became cats. And we discussed talking cats.
And then it struck me. Turns out, it's possible!
Now, before you pull off your "Lolnos", hear me out. There's a multitude of ways a mage could achieve a talking cat, assuming they were human in the first place.
First, by failing the polymorph spell on purpose - Polymorphing everything except the brain and the vocal chords, making the brain size diminish, but not it's characteristics. This way, the cats would be able to think, and speak, like their former selves.
Second, by first polymorphing the cat, and then transmutating their body so they can be capable of both speaking and thinking.
Third, using an enchantment to make the cat think and speak through magical means - arcane itself can fuel that.
Now, method. A polymorph spell usually doesn't last long. -Unless-.
An inscriber makes runic marks in each and every subject, making it so the runes gather the arcane energy from whichever source, allowing them to stay in their cat-forms semi-permanently; Removing the runes would turn them back into their previous race.
What's the point of this event? It's a two-part thing, really. First a closed event to the cats (You can apply to be one of the polymorphees, if you wish. There's no restriction). Second, an open event where people would aid the cats in their escape. The story behind the event will all be revealed as it goes ICly, but people may be briefed before the event happens if they wish.
So... That's it!
