The Highborne Empire
#16
The forest became crystal as Deathwing and his kin slaugthered a vast majority of the blue flight around Wyrmrest and what came to be Northrend. This was during the War of the Ancients.

After this the Sundering took place.

I'm inclined to think that the druids were part of the druids who came to Northrend in an attempt to create another world tree, this being said it has to have been after the first one was created.

Blizzard inconsistency, yes.

Okay, well, let's look at Vordrassil, the first world tree.

1) Original attempt at the World Tree.
2) Corrupted by Yogg'saron.
3) Now inhabited by Furbolg.
4) Had some part to do in Ursoc's corrupted resurrection.

Well, by looking at the WoWPedia page of history for that, one of the first quotes is the following.

Quote:ancient druids planted the great tree Vordrassil in the Grizzly Hills of what is now Northrend, an early attempt at the creation of a World Tree

1) Ancient Druids; It doesn't say anything about those Druids being Kaldorei. Perhaps, Vordrassil was a Green Dragon attempt at creating a Well of Eternity-like source for Nature Magic?

Alternatively, if you look on the list of faiths on Vordrassil's page, you'd notice one of them is Druidism. Perhaps, Vordrassil was the failed gift of the Furbolgs helping in a different war. However, the Ancient Furbolgs tore it down, because of the whispers they received in it. Perhaps, over the millenia, a Haunted Place turned into a Blessed Place, and they moved in.

2) Great Tree; These are known to house portals to the Emerald Dream, such as in Dream Bough, Seradane, or the Great Tree in Crystalsong. These are the only known World Trees, but I think it would make sense for them to try to make a larger one.

3) Of what is now Northrend; These merely says that it's Pre-Sundering.

I'd not be inclined to claim that Vordrassil was attempted before the real world tree at Hyjal, mainly since that is the original ones created from the last seed of the great tree in the Emerald Dream and blessed by dragons. All other attempts at making another world tree have been with it's saplings. Vordrassil is probably the same.

Well, it says in the quote that it's an early attempt.

If you assume that, it'd mean that the world tree is not the idea of dragons but indeed the elves themselves and they already had some kind of design and idea on it's functions before the dragons came with their almost limitless powers and imbued the one on Hyjal.

Well, no. If you read the rest of the post, I say that maybe it was Dragons that built it, or not Night Elves.

Hierophant Thayreen Wrote:My ancestors once planted a tree in the middle of the Grizzly Hills.

It was called Vordrassil and it was to become a world tree.

For reasons long forgotten, after the tree was fully grown, they decided it needed to be destroyed. Its giant trunk splintered at three locations in the area to the north.

Where the tree touched the ground, foul ooze began to crawl the earth. Bring me slime samples so I can begin my work and the earth can be healed.

I'm inclined to be of the oppinion that a night elf would not refer to dragons as it's ancestors.

Never saw that.

Well, then I would guess that it's a lorefail. Nordrassil was built to cover the Well of Eternity, and was built pretty quickly after the War of the Ancients ended, so there's a whole lot of lore against it and not much for it.

"Night elves, with their akward quality of covering everything not to their liking with trees."

Recall though that this was the -new- well of eternity, not the original, and it was grown with the help of dragons and using a seed from the Mother Tree.
