Simply put, some don't really want to try to act, because depending on the character acting can actually be a bit taxing.

...Just out of my own example, RPing Endling brings me into a sort of mood. I can honestly be a bit taxing, but not in a bad kinda way. I know it is something I wouldn't do while tired, though.

This. Just this.
Some characters I try not to play when I'm tired, as it usually ends up with me messing up their personalities and actions. When that happens and I'm on Coth anyways...I just run in circles in OOCC or level up my professions. :P

Why didn't you try and join the other 12 people who are RPing? I'm sure none of them would have minded.

I understand that no one was definitely not the right word to use. I meant that there are always large groups of people not wanting to RP.
#19
And there is always a large group of people RPing. There are always two sides to every penny.
What happens if a bowl of Tauren spills into Wednesday on a bed of six o'clock?

Yes but people are OOC together, people are IC seperately.

I'm on my computer most of the day. If I'm not, I'm at school or work. Most of the time I'm on my computer, CotH is running.

And yet, I'm working in the vast majority of that time. School work, work work, playing at being an editor, whatever it is. During that time CotH is essentially a chatbox; sometimes I'll ignore it, sometimes I'll /pet someone as they run by, and sometimes I'll pause to have a conversation with someone.

I RP when I can, usually in the evenings for me, even though I've sometimes been on CotH for a few hours before that. I've always got a lot of work to do. I really just don't get why people think everyone on OOC is just staring blankly at their monitor.

You say that there are 'large groups of people not wanting to RP'. Though basically everyone else has covered this already, I'll reiterate. Okay, maybe it's true. But maybe you should pause for a minute and think about why they aren't RPing. As I'm sure you're aware, this is an RP server. People here like to RP. If they aren't RPing, and choose not to accept your invitations, perhaps you should consider the possibility that they have a perfectly valid reason for not wanting to, whatever it may be, and accept that.

But, honestly, it's really not for you to decide what's an appropriate reason for someone to not RP.

Also, at the moment, I do not have a single character that could (or ever would) go lounge in a tavern and grouse about their woes to anyone who would listen. That seems a rather silly solution to the 'problem', in my opinion.

Hot air/after work exhaustion ramble done.

I'll let you in on a secret; complaining about this never ever gets anything done.

I don't think I need to tell you what you should know fixes this problem.

While I mirror the majority of the statements above, I'd like to point out something here so that you don't become discouraged.

You did the right thing by asking people if they'd like to RP. However, you posted this request shortly after berating people for sitting around in an OOC zone.

The berating you posted in LFG tonight left a bad taste in my mouth, and I imagine that it did for many people as well.

Asking is alright for RP and, more often then not, achieves results. However, it's all in the tone.

And threads like this make people want to RP with you even less.
Be best to note that before you make any more threads of this nature in the future.
#25
Quite frankly, I'd rather have 50 people on with 25 in the OOCC than just 25 people on total. Those 25 in OOCC have a chance of joining in on RP that may be advertised in LFG as well as provide more social opportunity. As long as everyone is indeed part of the community to RP or to enhance the RP of others, I really don't mind if they choose to idle on the server to chat while they do other stuff IRL.
#26
So that's how it is? If someone complains about a lack of RP...then everyone purposely won't RP with them...

Nice way of acting right there.
"Don't state your opinion or we will all frown on you!"

"What? This guy wants more RP? Well just for that I am not going to RP with him!"

Doesn't make sense to me.
And like i said, I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I am just saying that i personally wish people would RP more.

No need to come in here telling me how you refuse to RP with someone who wants people to RP more.

You didn't read Rose's statement. It's however you said it when it happened, than the request itself. I wasn't there to see it, but I assume there was some ranting on your part or something along those lines.

Honestly, though? I think this thread is better off closed. What you think is helping by complaining about the cavern-dwellers (like many others have I'll point out) is in fact only serving to put yourself in a negative light. Your lack of respect in this thread a rather clear indicator that this won't see any other end than someone doing it by force, as I'm doing now. Don't be rude and please accept that not everyone wants to be RPing 24/7, and that they might just want to chat with some friends or something. I've seen this trend for all the 3 years I've been around and it's not going to change no matter how hard you complain or insult people.

Closed thread.
