Inspiration

Is it alright to take inspiration from things like this for spells. I know the same schools apply to WoW via Higher Learning, and I figure that D&D is a good source for things these types of magic can do (if you look at the link under, 'Schools') as long as you take it with a grain of salt. For example, you can't go Schools -> Illusion and cast [url=http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Weird[/url]. Gotta be reasonable, but are they good to use y'think?
