NE Druidic Lore Questions
#1
I have questions.

So the Emerald Dream Defenders are being overtaken by the Nightmare; the Keeper in Moonglade confirms this, fearing those who have gone in are now stricken.

Here is my question. If all Druids enter the Emerald Dream, or can rather, does this mean those who are awake are stuck in this world until the Keepers decide otherwise?

The Nightmare infected the Dragoness who guards the Boughs leading from this world to the Emerald Dream, she can be found in the worgen area below silvermoon in a circle of mountains.

How bad has the Nightmare become, and are Druids who do not enter the Dream still at risk from the Nightmare? Is Dreamwalking while asleep different from normal dreaming? Can Druids sleep without the Nightmare finding them. A regular dream as opposed to the Emerald Dream?

From what I understand, the Nightmare is very dangerous right now as we're approaching the zenith of the Stormrage novel's plot.

...Finally, somewhere I'm useful.

Okay, so here's what's up.

1) Druids are still entering the Emerald Dream. Many are still in there, in fact.

2) Yes, there are four Dragon guardians near their respective entrances to the Emerald Dream. They've all been corrupted by the Nightmare, and now are being farmed.

3) The Nightmare's kicking ass and chewing bubble gum, but they still got the Bubblegum. However, no, the Druids who are not in the Dream are safe. The Nightmare has made attempts at manifestation in Azeroth, but they've all been beaten back by the Cenarion Circle.

3a) Yes, dream walking is different from normal dreaming. Dream walking is just a relative term, as the Druids (when they're going into the Emerald Dream) don't really go to sleep. The Emerald Dream is it's own dimension, an unspoiled version of Azeroth, and there are multiple corporeal entrances to the Emerald Dream around Azeroth. So, no.

Very helpful!

Now continued questions.

What exactly is the Nightmare? Is there any way that one can deny it? I am supposing yes, seeing as the Guardians are still being sent in and none (none I can recall in lore) have returned tainted.

If one were to go into the Dream, an Elder Druid, what is it they would face? And to my understanding even though the guardian portals to the dream have had there guardians corrupted, are there others ways into the Emerald Dream? I.E. Can a Druid manifest him/herself into the dream without the aid of a bough that connects the two places?

1) The Nightmare is the force of Xavius. It corrupts what touches it, and is currently charging through the dream at a reckless pace. No, you can't deny it. You can attack, retreat and go. And wrong, people have been tainted. Or Dragons, for example. Read here for more info.

2) Well, there's a quest that you do go into the Dream. What they would face is simply a shadow form of whatever nature-based was corrupted, or if it was a stronger beast (i.e. Humanoid or Dragon), then the beast keeps it's physical form (with a few minor changes), but gains new powers.

2a) You're still able to enter the Dream via Moonglade/other Barrow Dens. Powerful druids, I.E. Archdruids, can create portals to it on the spot with a few reagents, but other then that, you need to go to a Barrow Den. Mortals rarely use the portals.

The Emerald Nightmare is a wandering force, like a part of the dream in flux. Something like that. It's not in one single spot.
Your stories will always remain...

Remember to mention that Xavius is a servant of N'zoth, and Old God.

Actually, Squirrel...

Quote:It was revealed by Chris Metzen during the 2010 BlizzCon Quests and Lore Panel that N'Zoth is the true cause and subjugator of the Emerald Nightmare.

Xavius is just a pawn.

Edit: FFFF APHE.
