C.O.T.H: The RP (feedback needed)
#16
While I realize this isn't a crush-the-alliance idea, this idea of getting everyone to move to Horde will leave the Alliance RP very rare... As I'm sure you can tell by what I'm saying, I mean that the more Horde RP that is attracted by this, the less people will be on Alliance for the Alliance-preferred roleplayers...

Either that, or I believe we can fix this problem-ish thing by simply creating a similar guild, or promoting a similar guild on the Alliance side, to promote RP there, and create grounds for that event-storyline, which is based off of heavy combat between the two 'factions', if my reading is correct.

My apologies if I'm just mindlessly rambling, I do that when I have headaches :D *Yay for Headaches*

Good day.

Good idea, but I have a sinking feeling that G-chat will just end up being like /lfg. What would being in a guild do to tie people together and get more RP going? I understand it would be some unifying banner or something, but I think being on the server itself is enough to bring us all under one tent.

Not to be a downer or anything, but I don't get how it would really bring us together more other than giving us another chat for us to (rarely) post in. I can see it only being populated by the rare "LF RP", and then that would fall on deaf ears as it does in LFG, where people are already doing their own thing or just do not care.
Wake up. We're here... Why are you shaking? ...Are you okay? Wake up.
Stand up, there you go. You were dreaming... What's your name? Well, not even last night's storm could wake you. I heard them say we've reached Morrowind, I'm sure they'll let us go...!

Quiet, here comes the guard...

I'm not partial to grand sweeping organizations that guide roleplay. It's fun, sure, but it has the potential of becoming one of two things:
  1. Another 'favor of the month' guild or
  2. Restrictive in that it becomes the only roleplay on the server.
My preference would be to have an overarching storyline that allows people -- of both factions -- to interact as they choose. This way, a specific character doesn't need to be created in order to join, it's more inclusive than exclusive (nixing Alliance roleplay probably isn't a positive thing), and people can choose the extent to which they want to participate.

Don't like a specific concept or story being played out? Don't participate. However, it still gives impetus for further roleplay.

For example, suppose the storyline follows increasing antagonism between the Horde and Alliance, culminating in the events leading up to the Catalysm (which I assume is an eventual thing). Horde attacks a city. Alliance retaliates. A character may not like the increasing hostility between the two factions and gets to react ICly to it. Overhear someone championing the attacks? Speak up. Feel really strongly? Make an effort to organize an independent, neutral organization that attempts to broker peace. Or anything.

I feel that this has a lot more potential and won't pigeonhole characters.

True, but this serves as an alternative. I doubt this will be a project everyone leaves their mains for and takes over the server. As I still will have my independent storylines. But it will suffice for times when people are bored and wish to RP but have characters that don't interact. For instance if You and I were on Piroska and you favor dwarves and I elves we won't or will have a lot of trouble putting our chars together in a believable mutual situation. But if we hop on some alts that are already in a unit or group they can have an easier way to RP. It'd serve as a mechanic as well as an IC storyline/guild.

This isn't to say that Alliance chars can't participate because they can react to things the guild would do. But also it would be fair to the Horde as well as it really doesn't get RP. Belf RP really is an entity on its own and would probably exist thusly no matter what faction it is on. I'd even go farther to say if Belf and Humans were on the same faction that faction would probably get played almost exclusively. Not that people should be forced to do something and this isn't a mandatory guild just something we can all umbrella under.

Just because we're on the server doesn't mean we all RP together. There are people I see log every day that I haven't RPed with ever or in years. There are people who criticize others and really don't get to know them, I've done this myself and its been done to me. Its more of an idea and experiment. The who what where and why can be decided later. If not a guild called Conquest of the Horde then maybe something bringing people together. I think if it was cross faction there would have to be a little more thought put into it, as it would be kind of super-friends cheesy accommodating respect, lore and freedom for chars involved. I'd not like this to be split into two guilds because that would defeat the purpose. The guild wouldn't have to be active every day just the option that's there. And if that doesn't happen we need server events back.

I like the feedback though, thanks for everyone being polite, respectful and still speaking their mind. Hopefully we can chisel away to a good idea here.
