I'm pretty sure the rule was that as long as your noble don't have any special considerations you don't need a special profile, but if you want anything extra (influence, wealth. etc) you'd have to go with a special profile, few ever did.

It's more than just political pull. A lot of nobles get extra starting IC gold.

Which...really seems to skew things for races that don't have their own form of nobility. I suppose if someone wanted to make a profile for a particularly rich tauren or orc, it'd end up special as well.
Have you hugged an orc today?

Before Casey got approved, I asked if I could RP her without actually saying IC she was a Noble or anything like that, and I was told I couldn't and that I had to have her approved before I could RP her at all.

I wish that wasn't so...

I always assumed prestige in a society of warriors could be earned through merit in battle. I am looking at Spiky's Warlord Teztez, for instance. On the spiritual side of it, political advisers are usually Shaman, though I'm not sure if Garrosh ends up throwing that on the back burner.

But I think profiles for things like that should just be for people who want to suddenly make a character that starts off with those perks.

I don't think you should have to do special OOC things for something you RPd out and earned over a good amount of time IC.

Well, the problem is though... and I'm not sure on this, but you have to put up a prestige profile, right? That doesn't mean they are quite there yet, just that they are aspiring to do so.

That's how I see it right now, at least.

Anything that can theoretically command or receive special consideration from NPCs is a special profile.

...Note that achieving things through RP over time isn't the same thing as starting with it, but still something to be negotiated with the staff.

I believe their noble lords are called chieftains, but that's just me.

Tavren Black was portrayed as having (forcibly) inherited great wealth, an understaffed castle, and leadership of a dead dynasty.

...Nonetheless, he was never profiled, and he had no special advantages over other characters.

He had no political sway, attempting to beseech aid from the King of Stromgarde by right of vassalage would not end well for him, and...

...You get the idea.

Tauren and I think orc chieftains are special profiles, yeah. Troll shadow hunters might be too, I forget.

Completely changing what I said... don't know where I was going with it.

But Humans can't be chieftains or things like that, so I think every race has a special prestige title.

I laughted really hard at his grammar. Oh man, if someone could roleplay an Orcish chieftain like that, I'd be delighted. ^^

I do think it should/could be possible for a commonfolk to become a Noble of some sort. I'm sure there's historical evidence that could back up my claim, but it is something that occurs in literature. Usually a reward for great heroism, or decisive command or something. (e.g. A soldier slaying a leaders of X group causing problems/threatening the kingdom, is granting Knighthood/Lordship due to his valiant efforts). I'm sure there are other reasons. Powerful/Wealthy merchants can also be granted Lordship if they have enough influence, or own land.
It doesn't necessarily mean you have to be born into or marry into nobility. We do live in a fantasy world, so fantastic tales can come into being, with fantastic rewards.
