Masquerade of a Demon
#1

The elf lays on his back, the blanket exposing his bare chest and red hair spilling over the pillows. The screams, he still hears them. Swirling for eternity, and in agony, a giant ethereal whirlpool in the sky. It was horrifying, sweat collected on his cheek. "Sanguis..." A female's voice called out, followed by the soft smack of her lips against his skin. She poked her head above the blanket smiling, with eyes glazed over in a sultry expression. He thought of all the people he had sent to this world, on a whim. His eyes focused on her but he saw through her. A scar running across his neck where his head had been removed. He observed her lips moving, but he tuned out her words. While stretching he reached over to grab a cigar from an ash try on the nightstand. He lit it with a touch and put it in his mouth, red plumes exited his mouth. He closed his eyes, lulled by the smoke and his guest. He was in the center of a small room, his resurrection was painful and each passing day the aches of his body slowly faded. He was being housed by the Red Rose, brought back by an old colleague of his.

He was to be made one of the Magistry, it wasn't how he would've done it himself but the idea had promise. He had done evil things and sent many to the swirling souls, he would never go back. The stonewalls kept the murmurs and exchanges of lips hidden behind the doors. Slowly the elf began to sit up, the red hair falling down over his chest and neck covering most of his scar. There was a knock at the door. The female retreated under the blanket. "Come in..." Sanguis called out raspily. Another elf entered wearing the red and gold tabard of the Red Rose. "A letter from Lady Vivalyn has arrived." Sanguis extended his arm to receive the letter and quickly opened it when it was in his possession. He was willing to use his skills to help anyone who took him from....That place. He began reading eagerly. "It's time..." He said, nodding to the member of the Red Rose.

Livestock, that's all we are. Blades of grass in a field larger than our comprehension, its boundaries way out of our view. All swaying in unison to the authority of the breeze. In this finely crafted war, we are mere soldiers marching in a direction pointed to us by our generals, our leaders. Some noble, some are snakes, manipulative liars that would no sooner march his loyal soldiers off a cliff for short term gain. Vicious people. I see why you wanted me for this....Vivalyn.

A carriage pulled by one red hawkstrider slowly creaked down the path to Silvermoon, its towers extended passed the cherry leaves of the forest. The moon light shot through to the ground below in ribbons. Sanguis sat quietly in the cabin thinking over his new identity meticulously. His fingers meshed with elbows balanced on either thigh as he focused on his new life, and how it was true literally and metaphorically. He was born Sanguis Del'Averi Bloodphoenix but preferred the surname 'Sunfire' although his Father never claimed him and received no support or acknowledgement from the Noble house. Sanguis was going to go by the name Del'Averi Bloodphoenix, a name with the crimes of a child five centuries ago. A name that was real, that could be tracked, but not necessarily traced to his crimes as a Sunfire. His crimes were always executed while wearing a hooded cloak and a wooden mask. His face wasn't too publicly known. He had raised enough coin in endorsements from The Ridaken, The Red Rose and other supporters to support the facade.

The carriage stopped in front of a pathway leading to a grandiose set of buildings of Elven architecture. Three elves walked down the path all donned in robes. "Ah, Brother Del'Averi, we were awaiting your arrival." The three elves smiled, as Sanguis closed the door behind him. The driver hopped off his seat to feed the hawkstrider and fetched Sanguis' things. "Thank you for accepting me, I am honored to be an apprentice of this fine establishment. I intend to serve my people well for centuries to come, and -death- to all who oppose us." He said smiling. The other elves nodded as well, "I'll see you'll fit in, just fine." The elf in the forefront said with a smile, locks of hair fell to his chest. "If he can keep up." the female snipped, this caused Sanguis to chuckle, rubbing his tie down with a smooth stroke of his palm. The ring on his pinky flickering from the glow of the pyreflies. "Welcome, Del'Averi Bloodphoenix, to The Magistry."

A voice struggled to be heard as it released only muffled whimpers. The voice's owner's lips were mashed against the clothed arm tightly gripping its face. Warm tears leaking from the glowing green eyes as it struggled to breathe. Sanguis by this time had gained trust of the Magistry and was set on preliminary tests to see how he would handle situations. He had little sympathy for traitors, although the irony still stung his soul. He felt horrible for those he was sending to the whirlpool of dying souls, it almost hurt him. But he was loyal to the Red Rose for his Resurrection and to the Magistry for his goal. The tears began collecting on his gloved hands before he twisted them in one direction causing the cracking of the elf's neck to be loud. He fell to the ground limp with one thud. "I am sorry." He said closing his eyes.

After straining he bent down and picked up what he came for, a letter that was being sent else where about information concerning the Magistry. Apparently he wasn't the only one trying to get revenge. A shame they met like this. He stood stepping back as a small imp approached Sanguis' side and presumed with burning the corpse. Sanguis stood silently reading as the fire of the burning cadaver splashed light all over the area. The calls of the night animals echoed through the forest. While alone using the body for a camp fire he was approached, the imp looking up burning with green fel flame before his master's call halted him. This person was from the Red Rose. "We need to speak about your son." Sanguis continued looking to the burning corpse, "Which one?" he chuckled. "...The one you shared with Lady Ridaken." The eyes of the magister in training open wide as the light from the fel fire washed over his face. "....He goes by the name Amura Quai Ridaken-Sunfire. He is now a member of House Sunfire wi-" Sanguis shook his head in disbelief shifting his dyed brown hair over his face. "Sunfire?" He asked confused, the forsaken of the Red Rose continued indifferently with cold yellow eyes in the middle of his sockets.

"It is believed he is now a member of House Sunfire, and is meddling in the plans of Lady Vivalyn. She wishes for him to hone his skills and perhaps convince him to work with our organization. We have his mentor locked in a tower and plan to coerce him to work with us. How is your progress with the Magistry?" Sanguis takes a moment to soak the information. "....Slow. I will hold my end of the bargain. There is something you need to tell Vivalyn and the Red Rose to be aware of, and stay away from. At all costs."

"And what is that?"

"My Sister."
