Taverns, Dwarves, and other Introduction Things.

First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Hello, I'm Moss! I have been raised on roleplaying games since I was 6, starting with the old paper and pen classic D&D. As a person, my greatest joy (and often folly) is making other people smile even at my own expense, ocasionally. I'm also married, going on 6 years.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I live in the U.S. and am an English speaker. Sadly, I have no talent for learning other languages, but I know tiny bits of Japanese, Gaelic, and Latin.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I used to play Warcraft around the time Warcraft 2 came out back in ’95. My father had it in his games and I swiped it due to it looking interesting. I’ve been playing warcraft and RTS games since.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
I found this server through my friend Kenny. When I heard about this and that it is a RP server, I thought this would be the perfect time to bring back one of my old characters.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
I am a spur of the moment RP'er (which many of you will see with my characters) but my preferred are combat and tavern/social style RP.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Generally, I prefer to play the more roguelike classes, but sometimes I'll branch off into a heavy, greatweapon wielding behemoth, or even a support. Either way, I prefer to be the most benefit I can to the team and the said roles fit in my personal niche. As far as races go, anything either undead or lithe is exactly my cup of tea!

What are your expectations of this server?:
I am expecting nothing more than to be able to hang out with some friends and make new ones. I also want to expand my list of RP stories as well as contribute to other’s stories.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
My favorite rule was actually the "Know when to quit" rule. I have had some issues with people that I RP'd with not being able to differentiate between IC and OoC. This led to some pretty disturbing arguments. The entire section on "Respect" is, in my opinion, the most important, however. Some of the best times I have ever had were with people that may not have been the best at other things, but they were respectful in all things. That made all the difference in the world.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
If you ever want to know why the only race I refuse to play is Dwarf and Dwarf-kin, read ahead and keep in mind this actually happened.About 9 years ago, if memory serves me, I was playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons with a few friends. We had had one of the largest campaigns I had ever been a part of. I was originally invited by my brother who was actually playing one of the characters I had drawn up for him. He told me that it was going to be a "hellfire-campaign."
"What are you talking about?" I asked him. I can still remember my confusion as the word "hellfire" made me thing of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.'
"It's a campaign that's meant to kill all the players." He was serious.
"And... What exactly would be my incentive on joining something where I'm going to die?"
"Well you play all those endless zombie games, right? the ones where you die anyway."
"Fine, you've got a point there. BUT! You have to give me one thing."
He wanted me to join and he typically got what he wanted. He is a very hard person to argue with. I figured he was going to get his way, so I wanted to get something out of it. I wanted a character flaw that almost always led to funny happenings. Freuidian Slips. For anyone who doesn't know what that is, it's when you're saying something and you say what you're thinking instead of what you meant to say. For instance, the sexy waitress comes over, and as you pay your bill, you proclaim, "Here's your tit-I mean tip!" How could this possibly backfire, right?
Eventually, we figured out that a dwarf barbarian would likely be my best pick. The strength, the toughness, the ability to walk nude into a tavern and NOT get strange looks, would all be just the thing I could play. I will not forget a single adventure we had, especially since even with all the bad luck I had, I STILL SURVIVED! With almost a year of the campaign, however, the most memorable run of bad luck came from the end of my character's life.
I had been sent on a mission with 4 other party members. Mind you, though I didn't want to join the game in the first place, I did have fun. At least until I was the only dwarf in a group of elves. Somehow I picked the short straw and ended up being the only dwarf in a group of 4 elven priests. I knew things were going to end badly.
Things actually went well through most of the mission. The inherant animosity between elves and dwarves was obvious, but it wasn't until the last night's camp that I discovered they were blood priests, rather than the "holier-than-thou" type.Things had settled down, we were picking out rations, and my flaw decided to kick in. In real life. “Halfhilt sits down, reaches into his pack and pulls out a small bag of meat." I described my character's actions, not really thinking anything could go wrong with an evening meal. "He turns to the rest of the party and asks 'Would anyone like some elf jerky?" Elk! I meant elk jerky!"
Things did not go well for my character after that. The elves had 6 resurection spells between them and they made full use of all of them, killing me and reviving me to kill me again just to get revenge and a bit of extra xp.
After that game, I swore off playing dwarves.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Not really, no. I just hope I get plenty of people involved in my story and to be in theirs as well!
