Letters to the Public
#1
The old man moved quietly. Stormwind was dead after twelve, and the slightest noise would echo in the night. Not to mention the guards that were like hawks at this time, searching for the odd criminal or homeless beggar. With his sack of letters and nails, he would be a counted among the suspicious characters the guards would love to rough around. Tyrants.

Last stop. An old tree in the Dwarven District. The old man could have sworn there used to be tavern right next to it. Not that he hated the new fishing spot, but it still confused him how a whole tavern could vanish. It didn't matter. First attempt to nail the letter to the tree, hit only bark. Second attempt, the letter slipped under. Third time's the charm. “Note to self: Find a new kid to do this.” The man groaned, brushed off his sleeveless shirt, and hummed innocently to himself as he retreated to his shop.

In the morning, there were several letters around Old Town, the Dwarven District, and the Mage Quarters. All of them read the same.

Quote:To the fine people of Stormwind,

How long will you continue to support a king who pushes or otherwise ignores his people?

Spoiler:
Responses to the letters are welcome.

Walking around in his casual clothing, Ulrach spied a letter hanging on a tree along the canals. He studied it for a moment before ripping it off the tree in disgust. He tucked the letter, and any else he saw on his way back to command, in his coat pocket. He knew that secessionist groups had popped up from time to time, but he still felt the shock at each attempt.

Upon entering Stormwind High Command, Ulrach presented a bundle of confiscated letters to a clerk, "Make sure the Grand Marshal sees these. They were spread all along the canals and possibly around the districts as well." He went off before the clerk had even a chance to respond with anything more than a salute. Ulrach was going to put his soldiers to work early, by sending a few squads to spread out and search for the evidence of possible terrorists.

He stood in his office, glaring through a small window that looked out over the city. Fingers probing his chin in thought as he spoke aloud, "I just don't see how any could wish harm upon His Majesty? Without the order of the King, the world would fall into a darkness the likes which could not be removed." He dismissed this unpleasant though as he moved to his desk, leaving a note explaining the reason why he will be roaming the streets. He was going to try and confiscate more of these damnable pieces of treason.
Do you have what it takes to join the Fighting Blues?
Do you have what it takes to defend your homeland?
Will you stand up in defense of the innocent? The weak?
Will you stand up in defense of Justice and the Law?

Private Jamie Ramirez and Private Richard Mithas stood staring at one of the notes, before Ramirez could touch it, Mithas spoke up.

"Seriously? I mean come on, we would know right? The poor bastards in command try hard enough as is... If they meant well they'd come out and talk. Be civil about it, but vandalism, littering? Petty little acts compared to formal petitions and gatherings."

Ramirez shrugged slightly, taking the note and eyeing it through his helmet, "Hey, Richard. You don't suppose this could be one of those Twilight weirdos? Just trying to cause trouble? I mean... They do that sort of stuff."

Mithas took the note from his friend and put it to his lantern, reading closely as it started to light aflame, "I'm not quite sure. But for all we know it could be a half-brained lunatic? We've seen our fair share of those."

"Ah, like the doom-preaching orc in Shattrath back in the day... Crazy... I sure hope I don't get put on riot duty if things come up. I hate dealing with angry citizens."

Mithas lifted his lantern and watched the streets as the sun was starting to creep up over the horizon. "Just another day..."

Ramirez groaned, watching a dwarf puke out of a window, "Sir, please. Not... Ugh... Make sure you clean that up."

On his quest for the local news, Kaznick Megaloop stumbled around some dwarf puke. It seemed a few hours old but was largely uninteresting, a bit smelly he concluded after some further observation but it wasn't news by any stretch of the imagination. Kaznick found himself stumbling after a guardsman with a bunch of stacked up papers, the wind blowing several out of his hands and proceeded to desperately chase them all over the district. Perking an eyebrow, Kaznick picked the paper up and read it out loud to himself.

To the fine people of Stormwind..

"Aha! News!" he mutters to himself and stuffs the paper into a pocket, moments later, proceeding to speak to some of the local people who unfortunately didn't have much to add to the paper. After some hours of failed attempts at information gathering, he brought the Megaloop to his lips and proceeded to roam the streets. The people must know!

"Extra extra, unwritten news! Local rebellion uprising in Stormwind?! Bandits?! Twilight hammer corrupting things from within?! It is unclear, but we shall find out!"

When the sun rose up once again, new letters could be found throughout the Trade District and Cathedral Square, three on every shop door.

Quote:To the fine people of Stormwind,

When the unfortunate looked to the Tyrant for aid, he turned his head in disgust. He cast them out of his city, so that their sight and smell would not offend his senses. Do you support his decision?

Two days later, notes could be found throughout Darkshire. All of them repeat the same message.

Quote:To the fine people of Stormwind,

He sends them north to Gilneas, and he sends them west to Kalimdor. What about Stormwind's lands? Is his glory more important than your safety?
