First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:

I am usually a casual gamer, playing all variety of games ranging from Call of Duty to the Halo franchise. Although I play shoot 'em up games like that, I'm more of a person that likes to roleplay, in games such as Skyrim, Dark Souls, Mass Effect, etc.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:

I live in the United States of America. I live in the state of Florida and my first language is English.

How did you get into Warcraft?:

It was a really long time ago. I was only in elementary school when I saw an advertisement on TV. I eventually got it and started playing. I didn't get far though. Over time I started quitting the game, then coming back again.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:

Well, I was just browsing the internet after I played a bit of Dark Souls. You see, when I play a certain game, I make a character in my own head, give him/her strengths and weaknesses. So really I had an Undead Lightslayer in my head. So I searched the web and found a page about Lightslayers on the CotH wiki, and I got intrigued.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:

I'm no stranger to RPG's like WoW. I like to interact with other players in real time in a game then rather doing Play-by-Post, but I do that occasionally too.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:

In WoW, I usually just pick the human, but the Worgens look cool actually. I like to play as the Paladin often, or a class/role that has something to do with wiping out evil. But i'm no stranger for other classes as well!

What are your expectations of this server?:

I expect to meet new, friendly people and have a fun experience by roleplaying with them!

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:

Nothing really does stand out for me.

The light of the torch began to dwindle, the smoke from the flame becoming less dense by the second. The man frowned and let out a deep sigh. "Damn it.. not now." He looked at his dying torch and then to the blackness of the cavern around him. He kneels down and sets down his torch, looking through his knapsack for something to rekindle the flame. The darkness of the caverns begin to envelope around him as the flame continues to die. Just as the man takes out a match to light the torch, a scrapping sound is heard deep in the dark, soon followed by a animalistic growl. The man widens his eyes and gasps, looking into the darkness. "Oh no.." He exclaims as his body stiffens, the flame of torch ceasing to exist...

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:

Yes, I understand that this is a private roleplaying server, but I'd like to know how to join it. Do I need to download a specific client through a torrent? (Example: 3.5.5a) Or do I just hop right in with no worries?

Hello PaladinKOSP, and welcome to COTH!

If you haven’t already, please do make sure to double-check the rules and policies so you’re for sure familiar to the server’s expectations! If you have further questions, I recommend giving this guide a read, as it contains a lot of helpful information for players who are new to the server. Also, if you haven’t already, make sure to register your in-game account in the Account Management page using the same information you registered your forum name under. As for downloading the correct client and other things that you need to do in order to connect, I recommend giving this a read, as I found it very helpful myself when we made the switch to Cataclysm.

As for making your first character, there are a lot of helpful articles and guides for you to read up on in case you don’t fully understand the lore. The wiki also contains helpful tips for making a character and for when you’re writing your first profile, such as scale and height.

When you get your account created, make sure to /join Chat and /join Barrens in-game for if you have any questions not answered in the forums. Additionally, if you have skype and want to connect to the community there, we have an official skype group. For more information, read this thread. Feel free to send me a message if you need any assistance, and I’ll give if a reply as soon as I can! And if not me, any Overseer, GM, or Forum Helper.

Since you claim to enjoy playing Paladins or other classes with goals of wiping out evil, you might be on the right track with approaching lightslayers - as a subclass they're sort of the opposite of say...a vindicator or a templar (subclasses of paladins). Trying something that's the direct opposite of what you usually like to play is definitely worth a shot. As for the client, I recommend checking out the link I have in the generic cookiecutter part of this introduction response. It should lead you to a thread titled 'Cataclysm and You, and Install Guide for PC'.
