First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Hey there, everybody! I'll be going by the name Chiwee on here from this post onward. Not to beat around the bush for any longer, I've been part of the WoW scene for some seven years, of which I've roleplayed for 6 (Five, if counting the year it took me to really get into the lore, anyways.)
Point being, I've been around for some time now and haven't grown bored of Warcraft yet, so I'm gonna give it a shot on CotH. I'm already looking forward to getting started on here!
What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I'm from the Netherlands, my main language being dutch, (go figure!) but I feel just at ease typing/speaking english all the same among friends.
How did you get into Warcraft?:
This one's a tough one to answer. I think I saw the original WoW trailer on one of those late-night game shows on TV, back in late 2005. Was immediately hooked when I made my first character, a night elf druid. (Shadowglen rocks.) But it wasn't until I tried Horde that I knew what my WoWtastic calling was, orcs, trolls, tauren, you name it. I love them.
How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
Nothing in particular, other than CotH having a reasonable reputation as a roleplaying server. I expect I won't have to worry about typical server drama politics, as I've come to expect from more volatile communities. (: But yeah, let's just say I used the age old ask a friend trick, to find myself here at CotH. I don't really actively search for RP servers on the net anymore, in case you're wondering, mostly because the search results show up with very little promising in the way of eye-catching communities out there.
What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Theme-wise? More or less all. Adventure's a favorite of mine, and I also enjoy the occasional morally gray, or villainous character. But, mostly the social RP between adventurers is what keeps me interested. You know, that awesome dynamic between two people IC, the stuff that makes text flow like water. I like to strive for a positive experience when roleplaying, regardless of what I do and hope to find others with a similar mindset to mess around with. At least, that's the dream. Whether it'll work out is an entirely different question, but we'll see hey?
What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Troll warlocks, because they're simply under appreciated. Not to mention that trolls are the epitome of awesome with their mix of Aztec and islander culture. Warlocks on the other hand are just delightfully evil, or at the very least not tied down as much by morals as other classes may.
What are your expectations of this server?:
My main expectation is to find people to roleplay with, the other is to find a degree of enjoyment in it all. I'm lax as far as musts go, the only real necessity being my ability to stay engaged in whatever I'm doing. If that's good, I'm all set. Ding, ding! Next question.
Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
The forum rule regarding colored text. It gives me an aneurysm when I have to read rainbow, so that's really a blessing lol. Even so, I likely won't frequent the forums that much once I've been approved, so I don't think this'll be a problem. Aigh't, now for a serious answer: maturity is the one that stands out the most for me, because for me, a mature roleplayer is someone you can reason with, without having to stoop as low as personal jabs to get your point across. We all do roleplaying as a hobby, not a job, and that's all the more reason to behave when interacting with the other people on here. Fun can be had, but once 'fun' starts to ruin the enjoyment of another person, that's where you draw the line.
Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor? If so, say so here (Please enter at least "Yes" or "No"):
No thanks! Maybe I'll opt in later, if it feels necessary.
Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Any story, eh? Well, alright, buckle up for your typical summertime story. Back in the summer of 2013, just as school had ended I took the next best train to the airport and hopped aboard a plane to Curaçao (in the netherlands' antilles) with my mother, having saved for tickets the months before. (It was pretty expensive at the time.) We stayed there for almost a month with some close friends of the family and it was pretty intense at first, getting used to the daily rhythm and the harsh weather, since I had jet lag and didn't come prepared for the searing sun. But... that's hardly anything to complain about when you finally arrive at the destination of your dreams, after years of planning on it. Definitely a place worth seeing. All in all, it was probably one of my finest holidays to date. No real complications, totally removed from my dreary country I'm used to living in. If I had to choose what holiday spot to revisit, Curaçao would be at the top of that list for the coming year, and the one following it, if not neighboring Bonaire. Their food is great, and the people are even greater. You'd think the same, if you saw just how colorful it really is across the sea!
Just being there makes everything seem worthwhile.
Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Nothing much to say, no. Just that I hope this'll suffice, I'm starving for RP!
