Upgraded to WotLK, can't get in.

Kretol was so nice as to set my game account to "BC only" while I was still unsure if I could get WotLK or not, but I decided to get it and now I'm sort of stuck not being able to log in. I don't know exactly how difficult the process is, but if I ever want any hope of joining in I suspect it's something that must be done eventually. I tried a private message, but I might have sent it wrong, or maybe GM's can't be given messages like that. In either case, I went here with the issue, just to clarify. Sorry for the excessive topics, I can be rather dense at times *sad frown*

Because i don't have WotLK does this mean i wouldn't be able to play on this server ?
Oh and sorry i can't really answer your question just thought this would be an ideal thread to ask my own question the same time.

I guess you could theoretically still play as BC-only, but I don't know why you wouldn't just download WotLK and patch up...

As for the other guy, grats on getting WotLK! Don't worry about the flag thing I'm sure Kretol will swap that around when he gets too it. Hope to see you in game soon!

Im up to date with the latest patch but i just haven't got WotLK yet, and what do you mean download it, you have to buy it.

You are only ever paying for the right to play on retail servers, you can download the whole game and expansions from their website and never pay a dime.

I believe he is referring to how you swapped his account flag to BC as opposed to WotLK, anyway, that's what I made of it.

Yes, but that flag was switched back when I originally got the PM stating that he was downloading WotLK, so I need further information on whatever error messages are being received.

And thanks for it! I just figured out that I had done wrong. You see, after I installed WotLK, I replaced the realmlist file after the installation, but as I opened the game, it must have replaced it automatically, because despite showing the tag "conquest of the horde" in the lower right corner, it told my that my password or username was wrong. Heh, very confusing. But I just realized that this could be the issue, so I replaced the realmlist once again and that did the trick!

I guess this just proves that in 90% of all cases, all errors are caused by the user, not the program. Thanks for the extensive help! (I wasn't aware that the flag had been changed, as I hadn't got a reply and since the problem persisted saying it was either the username or the password). Anyways, trial by error as they say. I'll get on with that character profile now.
