Welcome!
To everyone that has been coming in from Google searches or following links from one of the list sites or elsewhere, welcome! Conquest of the Horde is a private WoW server that focuses primarily on roleplay within the Warcraft setting, which is probably what drew you here to begin with. Keep in mind that everyone is expected to RP, and while you have the ability to toggle an FFA-PvP flag, that's only to assist in providing a more 'immersive' experience. Visiting the Rules of the server will set you off on the right direction, and then browsing the rest of the Wiki will help you learn a lot as well.
Keep in mind that this isn't an 'insta-80' server, per se. We do level characters to 80, but only after a certain point. Be sure to read the FAQs for more information on that, and other things! To see the rates on the server, check here.

For information on how to connect (BE SURE TO READ THIS), please check the Connecting to the Server global announcement.

  New RP Location: Catacombs
Posted by: Rosencrat - 01-15-2012 07:58 PM - Replies (19)

There's no clear consensus on how the Catacombs came to be. Some have suggested that it began as a bandit camp, a place carved out by rogues and vagabonds for their personal use. Others say it was a powerful Necromancer's keep, a cave sculpted into a palace by a thousand undead drudges.

No one really felt a need to catalogue the history of a hole in the ground. It existed and, for most of its denizens, that was enough.

However it began the Catacombs now stands as a place for the marginalized and shunned to congregate and live in moderate peace. It has gained a sort of name for itself as a place where warlocks, cultists and extremists live side-by-side (And with a minimum of bloodshed) with rogues, assassins and Old Horde adherents.

What fragile peace it holds, however, was earned by its relative anonimity. Though it is well known in the appropriate circles the Catacombs has done little to draw the attention of those who would do it harm. Whether that will last, however, is something to see.

-OOC-

Spoiler:
Alright, 'New' is a misnomer. For those who remember it from before the restart, the Catacombs was Morgan's Plot Crypt modified to function as a settlement for those dark and unsavory individuals on the server. Necromancers, Warlocks, Assassins and others of the Neutral and Evil alignment called this place home. It generated role-play and, despite its flaws, was good. When the restart rolled around, however, the Catacombs and its sister settlement were wiped clean.

The new Catacombs is a scaled down version of the origional. Only the entrance chamber, Tomb of the Unrepentant and the Crypt Chambers have been furnished for role-playing.

The new Catacombs has also taken a turn away from overtly evil furnishings. While the usual Necromancy and Warlockry rooms have been retained new rooms for rogues, warriors and priests of different persuasions have also been added. This has been done to create an environment for purely villaouns characters alongside amoral and lawless characters.

The settlement is lawful and, as with most places, will not tolerate murder or violence. However, unlike most settlements, assassins, prisoners and Fel/Shadow users are accepted.

While it is unlikely for them to actually role-play in the Catacombs, Holy Priests and Paladins are also allowed within.

The role-play location is neutral to both Horde and Alliance players and can be found on the OOC Portal under RP Locations.

EDIT: Oh! There is also a death pit in the inn. Why? Because bad people enjoy extreme slapstick humor.

  New RP Location: Dawnstar Village
Posted by: Krilari - 01-12-2012 09:49 PM - Replies (23)

The shimmering sun burned high upon its perch in the sky, beating down on the common folk of Silvermoon City's Bazaar. Amongst the crowd of heads, a single courier took his place atop one of one of the many available fixtures, finding a bench suitable for his podium. A few heads turned at first, but true silence wasn't garnered until he rang out, his voice deep and rich as it drew the entire crowd to an awed silence.

"Hear me, brothers and sisters! Hear the decree of your Regent Lord, LorThemar!"

At the lord's name, the entire crowed had grown to an eerie silence, the field of emerald eyes locked upon the courier.

"The Isle of Quel'Danas, the location of our most holy Sunwell had hence been reclaimed through much bloodshed of our own and others alike. Through the toil of your brothers and sisters, Dawnstar Village has been repaired, fit to support us once more! For those who seek shelter, many homes have been made available. For those who seek employment, the Isle still needs men and women alike to help defend its shores from the vile naga, or even to help rid of what debris had been left in the wake of the Sunwell's reclamation. Glory to the Sin'dorei!"

- OOC -

Dawnstar Village upon the Isle of Quel’danas has been moved into the second phase. In their place we have added a myriad of game objects and NPCs to make the village appear livelier. Notably this village is Horde Only and any Alliance to set foot in the village will probably be hunted down by the guards posted. You have been warned.

A while ago I managed to find a spellchecker plugin for the forum. Unfortunately, it didn't actually work (I had assumed it was because the host server didn't have the script that it needed). After some research, I managed to get it working!

Now, folks can check their spelling within the post box (just click the "Check Spelling" button between the "Post Thread" and "Preview Post" buttons).

I'm aware several browsers have built-in spell-checking, but hopefully this will help folks further!

(And yes, this was totally news-worthy.)
