Lok'Tar! Conquest of the Horde was originally a private World of Warcraft RP community that focused primarily on roleplay within the WoW setting. Originally established in September of 2007, CotH enjoyed a healthy reign of over seven years focused on WoW roleplay. On January 22nd of 2015, a DMCA notice was issued, resulting in a halt of the WoW RP focus. Now, the community has expanded to encompass multiple worlds in various games and settings. This community will serve as a hub for members to join like-minded individuals in any game or environment. The community itself will also host a few game worlds of its own after development progresses enough.
While the dust is settling after the revelation of the WoW server closure, feel free to hang out and see how development goes!
Okay. So, these things are clearly constantly getting shelved because MY GOD.
So, I've already archived every guild sub-forum that has not had a post since 2013.
The problem I'm facing with these things is this: Kretol and I are the main ones that can do these things. A lot of people want them. However, 99% of the time these sub-forums are either used for the first month and then almost entirely forgotten about, or they get used for things that would have been perfectly fine being put into the other forums anyway. It has completely destroyed my desire to work on them at all. While they don't take -that- long to make, the process is fairly tedious and the work seems even more so when most of them aren't used for much.
So, here's where we stand now.
I will be evaluating all of the current sub-forums in use. I'll be examining what they're used for, and if said guilds really need a sub-forum. If I deem that the sub-forum is unnecessary, it will be sent into an archival forum. The rest will stay. Most of them, however, are probably going to go.
What qualifications am I using for determining this? Guild sub-forums must be used for something distinct, unique, and impossible to do in the other forums. For example: The Love Exchange uses their subforum to organize client profiles and matches. This is a good use of a subforum.
What aren't good uses: Organizing events. Showing guild uniforms. Posting guild rules. Member lists. IC posts. If these are your reasons for having a subforum, then it will probably be removed.
The application for getting these things will probably change as well. I'll be asking for example posts of what you intend to do with the new forum, so you'll have to prove to me that you're going to do something with it that can't be done in the normal forums.
If you are even the slightest bit concerned about losing information that you want to save in your guild forums, I recommend copying them to your computer now. I will probably begin the purging after a week's time.
Alrighty. Everyone that wants to apply for a shot at a Forum Helper position, bump up or create your applications in the appropriate sub-forum! They are open once more!
