The Ratchet Arena Drinking Game
#1
My friends and I have spent some time at the Ratchet Arena in the past weeks. Whether it's the lure of the blade, the promise of recognition after the fight, or an inexplicable fascination with seeing other people make fools of themselves scuffling in the sand, many people are there.

In the weeks I've been on this server, I've seen quite a few duels. Not as many as my friends have, but they spend much more time there than I do. Now, some duels were interesting, some were silly (intentionally so!), and some confused me. However, there was one element present in every duel:

the Grunt.

Often during combat, one of the participants is dealt a mighty blow and he grunts heroically in pain. Or as he lurches back to avoid the arc of a blade, he falls back to the ground and grunts at the sudden shock. A fighter that is kicked in the gut grunts. Hell, stub your big toe on the way in and you might grunt as well!

In fact, the Grunt is such a reoccurring element in duels that Krilari and I started joking about taking shots every time we witness one. Of course, I wouldn't allow this since as a former sailor I'd be considered a professional drinker and he's just a kid, but it's the thought that counts! However, we have codified the rules of said drinking game in case anyone ever wants to try.

The Ratchet Arena Drinking Game

  1. Find a duel and begin watching said duel. Feel free to cheer, jeer, mock, or otherwise enjoy the duel as you normally would.
  2. Every time someone grunts, every person participating must take a shot.
  3. The last person to finish must take a second shot in punishment. Shame on you; be faster next time.
  4. Continue until the duel is over or the participants are roaring drunk.

As we noted this afternoon, duels involving more than two fighters can result in excessive drinking. Play at your own risk in these situations!
