Interracial attraction; does it exist?
#31
I thought it was a gnome-human coupling. Didn't know they had a kid.

Your timing is magnificent. I was just drinking soda. Now I have to clean it off the monitor and keyboard.

Now, I want to hear moar about this. Got a link?

sabrekab Wrote:Heh. It's an interesting thing to think about, especially with all of those forbidden lover types running around.

I'm not sure what to think. One of my characters is horribly, horribly racist against anyone other than Night Elves and Tauren, the second hates everyone except dead Death Knights and Forsaken (because they're dead/cold/are like her), the third tolerates any race as long as they're 'good'.

And well... the fourth.. she's busy being an immature brat for her age. She'd probably screw around with anyone short of a Tauren or Gnome - especially if it was some race she was supposed to despise.

What I want to ask is; is the last character reasonable? I make it abundantly clear when I play her that she's not being rebellious for any good reason (just shallowness), and she's a pervert.
That actually makes it more fun.

I don't think it's wrong to have like, one character like that.

I don't like it how the racism doesn't show on this server. Every time I play, there are these goody-too-shoes characters that go on about chatting with blood elves and things. And now I'm talking about humans. I'd like there to be more racism on the server! That could've sounded weird without ... Right.

So, I think she's reasonable. It's rare for a Kal'dorei but... It's just fair that someone gets something different -sometime-.

I understand this is open for discussion and I mean no disrespect. But this seemed over after
Rensin Wrote:Welp. Look at this way. Have you ever been physically attracted to any of the races on WoW? I'm being serious here.

I know some people would answer yes, so, there's your answer.

/shrug. That's just me. I do agree that Racism should be a little higher. But it -is- there, It isn't like we're on a camp fun server. I've seen a lot of lore obedient racism. I've also seen some that goes against it. But I think it conveys a natural and honest portrayal of interaction. Because too my knowledge faction warriors, politicians ( some ) and proud nationalists would hate other factions. But like vendors and civilians would most likely just be biased and hold ignorant prejudices due to their civilization. Take them and put em in Ratchet or something... They might just be like fuggit. I dunno. I may be rambling it is late/early here. /end nonsense.

Ehm.

I saw it disappear slowly in the Ratchet arena.

First... There wasn't any. Then... They were cuddling.

I believe it happened after this "4th wave" arrived.

Of players. In my history.

Or, as I call it "The Fourth Generation". ... Wooow my thoughts are messed up.

Here I thought it was always "If your history fits it, then it's more possible." There are always humans living in Ratchet that may have become more tolerable to Horde than the humans straight out of Stormwind City may be. Every locale has it's own norm. Anything other than a Blood Elf in Silvermoon is considered odd, a Night Elf in Gnomeregan would be considered odd too.

These are just some examples of how customs and people differ from place to place. This is why I always thought the final ruling on these issues was "Does it fit your character's history to have him/her doing such and such?".

I think some people think of WoW racism as 'yelling insults at the opposite race all the time and challenging them and getting into fights and all that jazz'. There are such things and docile racists y'know. The thing that will never cease to confuse me is how some people actually will make a char who'll approach other races with a fiery temper and challenge them, but... then they don't want their character harmed. Srsly wat? Then why make the character if not even YOU can comply with? And right now out of 17 characters... I only have 1 that isn't racist. One. And he has reasons, not this "I wanna be peaceful with everythaaaang" viewpoint.

But back on topic, the thing with interracial reactions is however rare they may be, people will still keep doing in and it's slowly becoming a norm. Off the top of my head I can already name 3 cross faction couples (or 3 cases of interracial love), and at this rate it's likely to increase.

Sometimes I wish I had a flame-thrower so I could melt all these special snowflakes. >:o Nah, not really, but I do wish people would consider their actions for a moment with, at the very least, knowing why it would rarely occur.

Spoiler:
I get it that she would f**k around with all possible things just to be rebellious? Then I doubt she is attracted to any of the 'wrong' things she fucks. I mean it might be hard to get pleasure out of something that has a total different anatomy as Cressy mentioned earlier. Who knows, maybe draenei are like cats with hooks on their penises?

I'd personally say that it works as a rebellion and not a sexual drive. And that she might not get anything out of it or even get hurt at times.

For the longest time, I played my character Queloria as having a developed curiosity in other races -- this goes as far as to be curious as to the sexual aspects of said races. She likes her own kind just as well, but the interracial thing is probably the deepest, darkest secret that she has. Now, being that this would MOST LIKELY (lewl) be considered taboo in Blood Elven society, let alone several other societies, it's something that she keeps to herself and has never told anyone about or acted upon. Ever. And I don't plan on having her act on them at any point, although it has and continues to make for some quite interesting self-conflict. She considers it messed up in the first place because, hey. Pritty little BElfies aren't supposed to find bumping uglies with Orcs 'n' the like sexually intriguing in the first place. :B

*Ducks furniture and good china possibly being thrown.*

That being said, it's my own personal opinion that yes, certain individuals in any given race can be attracted sexually to other races. It would be a rare thing and probably kept under wraps, like any other kink, but it isn't entirely far fetched. There have been several halflings in WoW lore in the past and, even though they are mostly shunned, it goes to show that there has been that attraction.

I think the thing is, is that, especially with cross faction dating, which I see...a lot. People of their faction will talk, and uh, I highly doubt a Sin'Dorei society will be all hugs and kisses about finding out that their brethren is doin' a Nelf.

Like, I think people forget about how certain couplings really would...effect how people view that. And people she expect that.

Alright, to everything I have seen, I will say for example using a deceased character I have, Jabtok, that he has been in an interracial thing before, I won't go into detail as to protect those involved, but it had nothing to do with love. Needless to say, he is also a troll and very traditionalist, he doesn't know what love is other than a joke... point being is that even though he considered Night Elves ugly, he still was a traditionalist troll and understood that in the old culture, women were nothing more than trophies, with that being said, he also wanted a child and did not care if it was from another race as long as it was his seed that helped birth it.

Point being is that he would never "love" the child as much as he would a pure blood, but he didn't care, he wanted to reproduce and have a child. For him, it didn't matter as it likely wouldn't in troll society to begin with. Women were trophies, didn't matter what race it was from, they were trophies or slaves.

Now on the flip side, the elf would never be accepted or viewed the same in her own society if that information got out... So with all of that said and done, I really think that two things need to happen.

1.) You need to look into the individual cultures and how they would as a -whole- consider the coupling. Understand each before it happens.

2.) We need to creep away from our characters REPRESENTING an entire faction when more than half of the characters don't associate with their own factions, or at least, they don't give their factions justice in the least... seriously, let the characters have some independence and not be so bogged down, just like how stuff is taboo here. :P

EDIT: I may have come off as contradicting myself between the two points I stated.

Really, it can as long as it works.

Some people are commenting on the rule that says you can't be half-whatever. While this is true, I think it should be pointed out to them that that in no way crosses out the ability for interracial relationships. Because most races in the game take FOREVER to age to adult, we can nearly rule out all possible ways of a interracial child coming into play.

Also, a few people have noted that it has to fit into your story. If your character is a gnome-hating troll, you are not going to have a relationship with a gnome. Simple as that.

I think it's impossible, with perhaps a few exceptions.

Nelves regard Belves as mutants....
Trolls think every other race is ugly, a relation with an Orc could be possible.
Taurens....uhhh.
Surely a human male would love to have a relation with a female elf, but what would the elf think?

etc etc..

Bovel Wrote:One of the points on the matter was that it is something controlled by looks, that trolls for example would easily percieve night elves as something sexual for them. Countering that would be; would healthy human consider a chimp, gorilla or even Lucy a mate?

If you mean Lucy from Elfen Lied then the answer is hell yes! Even though she is a different species, how can you say no to this?
[attachment=0]

She may have horns, invisible hands an kill people, but hey! Don't tell me you wouldn't hit that. I guess that works for your question too. Maybe not a Night Elf and a troll. They are too different. But a Blood Elf and a Night Elf. Sure. There ain't much of a difference except in culture.
