Interracial attraction; does it exist?
#46
Just a note, before you read, please. If you're weak at heart, prone to crying and get upset easily, skip over this post. I point out a lot of things based on my experience out of the server. I've done a lot of thinking here, and some stuff some people might not understand just yet. It's very controversial to the way many people think of RolePlaying now. If you'd like to reply to this, do it with a private message to me as not to disturb this thread. For anyone this far, please understands my concern.

A lot of people forget to keep in mind that when your human was raised, he wasn't raised to believe that Orcs are okay to love when you get to know them more than the blood thirsty, rage driven and savage things they presented themselves to be in your characters childhood. Don't let your modern-way of thinking that “everyone's equal” apply to your characters. It just makes you look like you're roleplaying yourself, not the character you made.

Just to note, I'm going to go ahead and say that any race that is “purebread” doesn't really like the mixed sorta thing going on. It's not most likely considered taboo that a Blood Elf should have relations with another race. Not only blood elves, but also high elves consider and considered it taboo—And still do today—to mate with another race. Not to mention with the lack of Blood Elf and High Elf population.

But seriously, I think I just bashed Kiffles with that statement, so I apologize to you. Personally, I didn't really mind that theory.

As someone who's traveled to a lot of servers, I'm going to say this. Inexperienced roleplayers and definitely RolePlayers who don't seriously consider reality end up jumping into inter-racial towns. I'm not pointing fingers or saying anyone who goes into Booty Bay is a noob, I'm just saying that I realized more than 2/3 of (unnamed RP private server)
Spoiler:
Rebel WoW's
population sorta swarmed Booty Bay, and like, the 1/3 was in Silvermoon.

Honestly, the amount of “hey, everyone, lets have a tea party” on the server is getting on my nerves. The warning-to-kill idea makes me believe it's a server for newly developing RolePlayers. The people going into Ashenvale and using “Diplomacy” to solve disputes makes me wonder why I came there in the first place. The people in Booty Bay and the people who play Blood Elves wrong don't bother me at all, because I did the same thing when I was starting out here too. It took me a whole pilgrimage to figure out that I was way off course—I had to try to fix a community, get trolled to death, create a server and become and administrative officer to realize that just being medieval-esque wasn't enough. If I want to be serious about my character, I'm not going to make up some shoddy excuse to head to Ashenvale as a human Paladin. I get on another character where it'd be appropriate to go into Ashenvale. If I want to be serious about my character, I'm not going to have my character who's been used to human women suddenly go pick up an Elf chick because, hey, they're practically the same thing besides the height, their ears and the purple skin. It's not just a difference in how your character actually sees another physically, but it's also how he feels about their race in general. Another question to ask yourself is how does your race feel about the other race?

People also forget to know, when you go out of your characters race's norm, you're not making your character unique. By now, from what I've seen, you'd be like every other two-bit guy that comes on the server and tries to be different. I've been there too, mang, and I really don't care as long as you haven't been promoted to a grunt. I sort of thinking about it as growing up.

I will not respond to any replies on this topic forwarded to me. Please send me a private message if you wish to reply. A lot of this stuff isn't healthy for the public, but hey, I have a right to spread my opinion on the matter, right? I just hope I didn't go too off topic here.

I'm just saying that, as to the person who made the topic, I would think that physical appearances would rarely coerce one of another race to bring himself upon another, if you get what I mean. Maybe they might stare, but not without guilt, you know?

I think this thread has gotten a bit off-track here. The original point was not about interracial couplings, but about the sexual desire itself, disregarding the taboo of having those desires, as that really doesn't seem to matter to most people in the real world in their inner thoughts. Would a Human be sexually attracted to a Night Elf? Humans in real life are, so sure. Have almost all races on Azeroth been the victims of interracial rape? Yes. Would any culture accept interracial love? No. Would any culture really accept half-breeds? No. But those last two have nothing to do with the physical attraction aspect.

As Kiffles said when she was describing Queloria, characters can be intrigued and attracted to races and never act on it. Something like that adds a whole new level of depth to your character, because it's always better and more realistic not to have your entire personality on the surface.

While every single major race in the game isn't all "peaceful" and "luvy-duvy", they don't hate every other race that exsists. In the terms of interacial couples certain mixes would be more accepted (Not completely excepted) than others. -If- the desire for others exsists, it would not likely be with someone who's race is purely hated by their own.

Orcs, Tuaren and Trolls are all very close friends as seen by the stories and histories of each race. If they -were- to start having desires for other races, they wouldn't immediately spring for Elves. There are some people that view these races as the "ugly" ones, but that saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder is true and it definately applies here.

Blood Elves constantly find themselves alone in the world, with almost every other race disliking them (Even the Horde to a smaller extent). The Blood Elven race as a whole does not trust the other races too much either. The people they definately hate though, are the Night Elves.

Humans are a much harder race to analyize because they are in a lot of places. Simply put though, if they grew up in or around a Human city (Stormwind, Stromgarde, Lordaeron, ect.) they will have more racial tendencies towards the Horde and every race it's composed of. The Orcs and Trolls are some of the greatest enemies to humanity and the enemies have found themselves allies (Tauren, Blood Elves, Undead). If humans grew up in, let's say, Ratchet, those racial tendencies would still be there, but maybe not as strong as if they grew up elsewhere (Still strong).

Dwarves are very good friends with the Humans and Gnomes overall. Every other race is still seen with curiosity by them. The Dwarves themselves though, always find themselves in conflict with the Horde as well. Because of this, if any Dwarf gets the interacial urge, they would most likely pick one of their said very close friends.

Gnomes, like Dwarves, are very good friends with Humans as well. Even more the Humans, Gnomes are probably best of friends with their Dwarven cousins. The Gnomes, while not having as much enemies as some other races, still do and aren't on good terms with other races out there.

Night Elves find themselves secluded from most of the world. They aren't as proud as other members of the Alliance but still see them as closer friends than the Orcs that ravage their forests in the South. One of their biggest enemies though, are the Blood Elves that have radically shifted away from their own society. The Blood Elves would sometimes be viewed as traitors even, and a Night Elf would not likely fall for one.

While these may not be the case for 100% of the characters, us as players just need to ask ourselves if what we're doing is very likely or beleiveable. Think of it like this: "Would your Gnome date a Trogg?", "Would your Tuaren date a Goblin of the Venture Co.?", "Would your Human date a Kobold?". Enemies and enemies wouldn't start dating after several days or even weeks.

EDIT: Minor lore error corrected.

There is definitely interracial attraction in WoW. It's as simple as this: do you, a human, think blood elves are attractive? Even if you haven't put much thought into that, you should at least understand that many players do find blood elves, night elves, and even draenei to be attractive. Everyone has different tastes, so it's not unusual to like another race.
#52
But that's something you don't come out and say in this world. Saying you think another race is attractive will get you labeled as a weirdo, most likely. And saying it about Horde when you're a human? oohhh no. Bishes be gathering the torches. :P But that's half the fun, hiding the attraction and having that conflict, like Kiffles said.

I'm going to have to disagree with SourPuddle here. He seems to think that every member of every race should be staunch supporters of the Alliance or Horde, and that there is no middle ground. But there is a middle ground. Besides the fact that even though the Alliance and Horde are at war, they have negotiations. I feel like Thrall and Varian would be friends were it not for Garrosh.

Booty Bsy and Ratchet are the only place where people of both races who are neutral can RP together. Now, I feel like it would not make much sense for a blood Elf to be in Booty Bay, but what can you do? Would you rather all the blood elves just RP in Silvermoon? Because we ALL know what happens when they do. The entire server rolls blood elf in order to RP, because everyone else is RPing in Silvermoon. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on this server who doesn't have a blood elf alt.

I think the blood elves being in the Horde was lore breaking and I think is for game mechanics only (Blizzard's misguided attempt to even out the factions. Sure there were people complaining about the ratio, but the Horde was always winning in PVP in Vanilla WoW). Alas, blood elves ruined Horde RP on retail RP servers, and on normal and PVP servers the Horde is all Blood Elves and they no longer dominate battlegrounds like they used to. Orgrim Doomhammer rolled in his grave.

Anyway, there is a night elf and blood elf couple on this server. They have found a way to make it work. I think a gnome and a tauren could fall in love. But interracial relationships are rare, and until Azeroth joins us in the 21st century, will remain so. They need to just get with the times, is all.
Pain is an illusion.

I haven't read any of the posts above and I feel I don't really need to. All I know is that this just seems like another annoying thread telling or argueing over how to RP. If your character is attracted to another race, well then that's that. Yelling about it on the forums isn't going to change anything. Nough said.
