WoW IM addon will show you a "So and So is typing!" message when you're exchanging whispers in it's whisper box. But that's about it.

I'm trying to figure out if your serious...
A serious conversation on something that could yes mean a patch for your server, But it also means making CotH hit the top of the RP leader-boards just for this small edge over the competition.

If they can do it in whisper then it's very possible for a server wide version to be done.

I agree CotH should be, but it's not... compared to a few other rp servers... we're small... They have alot more activity...
the closest one to come to mind is Millennium... their Getting big...

While I applaud looking for ways to actively improve, I think that this is an example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The time and effort spent in getting this to work would most likely not equal the return. Cost-benefit analysis, baby!

Edit: Regarding competition with other servers, I'd like to point out that the wiki has links to other private roleplaying servers. According to the article:

The RP-server community is very small, compared to those that seem to focus purely on PvP or PvE, so we are more than happy to keep people aware of other RP servers out there with differing rulesets, playstyles, procedures, etc. to promote variety.

We feel that people should make their own decisions and form their own opinions of any particular server, so here is a list of others out there (in alphabetical order).
Frankly, I don't think that the idea of competition has even entered Kret's mind, given what he wrote!

Grr... I wasn't starting this topic to debate rather we want to be dominant over the competition... I said... "With this we will gain the edge to be number 1 on the leaderboards" This may be referring to it being a competition, but that is assuming WAY to much.

I am nothing if not logical. And it's not an excuse; it's a very valid way of determining whether or not a venture is worth undertaking! It's important to determine if the benefits that are gained from any planned action is worth what you spend (money, time, manpower). If it's not, then you move onto something with greater return.

What you're suggesting, would be time consuming, difficult, and not a very big improvement overall. We're not saying it's a bad idea, it would be a nifty little thing, it's just sort of unrealistic.
