Concerning Cataclysm
#1
Sorry to ask. But with Cataclysm coming up, I am wondering how we will handle some of the new stuff happening.

I know that everything Deathwing does happens very quickly. But I think it would be awkward for one day there to be no wall at Westfall, and then the next day for there to be a wall there. Also some places seem to have upgraded (Orgrimmar), or have new buildings constructed.

Another thing is that some places seem to have changed ownership. I think one example is the camp right outside Mulgore, in the Barrens, that's usually controlled by Tauren is now controlled by the Alliance. What. Did that happen in a day or something?

My question is will we be having a time-skip to explain all of these things? Or will it just...happen? Or will we assume they have been happening for quite some time?

Check out the screenshots here, you'll see what I mean.

Personally, I think a time-skip might be cool. We have enough time between now and Cata to wrap up any plots that might be occurring now. And it would be nice to see how some organizations/people have adjusted to the new changes.

Cataclysm, from what I understand, takes place three years in the future. I might be mistaken however.

EDIT: Bah, can't find a source for that. I could have sworn I heard it at one of the Blizzcon booths...

Oh. That explains alot, if such is the case.

Looks like I took a bit too long with my edit, heh. I can't seem to find a source for that, so either I just heard a dev get asked it and it's not written down, or it's juts my fanciful thinking. I've wholeheartedly thought it for the past like, three months now though, so there HAS to be some truth in it, right?

...

Right?

I hope that doesn't mean that we need to wait for Cataclysm for three years just to keep realism... :D

Even if such is the case, it seems like a reasonable length of time for the changes to occur.

I'm fairly certain Cataclysm will have the same timespan as all WoW expansions have had, a year, so the start of Cata will be a few months after the Lich King's fall and the end of Cata will be one WoW year after the end of WotLK, if that makes sense. Like how WotLK start one year after the re-opening of the Dark Portal (tBC).

As for how it will be dealt with... well, we don't know more than you guys about Cata and with the lack of information it's hard to make any decisions, what we have are screenshots, some starter game quests (I wrote two guides on the new Cata starter zones, should be somewhere on the forums if you're interested) and a general idea that terrible stuff will happen. Right now, we will wait and see what's to come and focus on what we can do, that is deal with Northrend, Cataclysm is still in the development phase and we can count that it can take up to 2 months before we could implement it here after it's release, could take even longer depending on the emulator teams.
All makt åt Tengil, vår befriare!
