Warlocks and the law.

Normal Warlock spell casting like shadow-bolts and what not though? That would be treated the same way a Mage casting a fireball spell would.

This is my opinion.

I don't think flinging shadow magic around would be viewed the same way a fireball would. I'm not positive, however, so don't quote me on this.

Agreed, i think people would be a bit like Hrrrm...Damn warlocks and their fancy magic, but none but the most proud and old fashioned paladins would jump up and yell "Kill the Heretic!"

Gnomes are marely curious about everything, like fel magic and demons.

I think humans and orcs are basicly on the same starting point. Commoners might not accept the warlocks, but commanders and military leaders welcome their aid more ofthen than not.

That's what I've seen from playing the game anyway and reading some (I do not claim to be an expert) of the fluff.
Undead yes, blood elves no.

Blood elves were horrified at first when they learned of Kael'thas working with demons.
Stealing magic from demons is one thing, becoming allied with them is another.

Actually, Blood Elves are completely fine with Warlocks, since they're using them as tools, -not- friends. Their main purpose I would think, is to summon demons for others to siphon. Just to prove they're alright with demons, their warlock coven isn't even a secluded coven, it's a group of warlocks in a hookah bar smoking and summoning demons. The person who runs the tailoring shop in Silvermoon actually has a succubus running his shop, showing that not only are demons tolerated in the city, they're so welcome that people will actually do business with them!

Slightly off topic, but the other day I noticed they also have a bunch of leper gnomes in the basement, presumably to make all the clothes.

Yeah, Blood Elves are cool with Warlocks. You could probably walk around with your minion following you with no repercussions, so long as it behaved.

Although it is going to change in Catacalysm with Magni turning into a rock, Black Magic in general is strictly outlawed in Ironforge.

Just off topic a bit, but this really interests me. So, according to this, a Necromancer can practice legally if they were given permission and authorization from any of the above? That might make a good storyline for someone if they wished to become a Necromancer working for the Alliance.

Yeah, blood elves were at first horrified, but then learned to silphon off the demons the magic they craved and learned to accept it, even embrace it. Becouse of this they would never be High Elves again.

Sunwell is supposed to be restored in Cataclysm, but they wont be high elves becouse they've learned to live as "evil" blood elves.

And gnomes get Gnomeregan so they dont live in Ironforge anymore. They get to do their fel things in Gnomeregan and destroy it again!

As was said earlier in the thread, that was taken from the Earthen Ring Wiki, and is in no way, shape, or form cannon.

Though it could likely here apply.

Warlocks are not outlawed, but a warlock doing crimes will likely be more severely punished, or in the most objective cases, harshly treated.

Also I do believe warlocks are banned from the Kingdom of Azeroth (the human one). Guards will tell you the directions just like Worgen DKs will be playable : for gameplay purposes. I have seen GMs take warlocks and warlock-convicted people to the stockades without those people doing any special crime, other than summoning a demon.

And anyways, demons in cities would be a trouble to public order. (Peasants grabbing forks and trigger-happy paladins slaying said warlock)
