History
[left][Image: raxj5f.jpg][/left]Before the fall of Quel'thalas, the Church of Silvermoon was a sight to behold. While it wasn't as big as its Alliance equivalent, its influence was a great as any of the noble houses, and its cause was just. Many of the High Elves were involved actively with the Church, firm believers of the Light. Tarian himself was often asssociated with it, being a Silver Hand paladin. However, when the Scourge led by Prince Arthas marched through the Quel'dorei lands and tainted the Sunwell, the Church itself was completely destroyed in its attempts to hold back the undead forces. Tarian, among the few survivors, fled before they were wiped out.

Like many others, Tarian was forced to intake Fel energies to beat back the arcane addiction. This sin caused his great connection with the Light to wane, and the Silver Hand was banished by Prince Arthas. It took years before Tarian was able to regain his connection to the Light, and no doubt that the new Sunwell assisted in his recovery. Now, coming out of hiding from Eversong, Tarian is now attempting to reform the Church of Silvermoon to its former glory, staying true to the three virtues as close as he can.

The Light
As the church was heavily influenced by the Church of the Holy Light, their faith is similar. The Church of Silvermoon focuses primarily on the three virtues.
Spoiler:
Respect
The first virtue taught is respect. While the Holy Light teaches that awareness of the self and the universe is a goal, one must also see the connection between others and the universe. Destroying other's happiness and severing other's connections with the universe is not serving the world's well being, and therefore not your own. The practitioners of the Holy Light are not naive, however, and understand that trial, conflict, war, and suffering do happen; but they strive to make the universe a better place in spite of these hindrances.

Tenacity
The second virtue is tenacity. The adherence to this virtue is, incidentally, the part of training under the Holy Light that weeds out the unfaithful, as true dedication takes years. Fresh-faced acolytes often lose hope and the true meaning of the Holy Light when they realize that it takes a lifetime to serve the philosophy. The world is much bigger than one lone soul; and while the world can change a soul in a day, it takes much more time to change the world. Only through tenacity can a servant of the Holy Light hope to affect the universe. If some young students feel like this is an impossible task, others take heart in the realization that if you truly believe there is a connection between the self and the universe, one cannot help but affect the other, no matter the size. Affecting the world can include anything from teaching and instilling hope in others to joining with other like-minded individuals to work together to create a bigger change.

Compassion
After the first two concepts are mastered, the student can take on the final virtue: compassion. The connection between the self and the universe is strong, but it still is only one connection. If a follower of the Light serves another to increase his happiness, his bond with the universe grows stronger. The happiness he receives by helping someone also strengthens himself and the universe, and he is able to affect the universe even more.

Compassion is perhaps the most powerful — and yet most dangerous — virtue.

If someone is too compassionate, he can give help where none is needed — or wanted. This oversight can hinder one's growth and happiness. For example, one may help another with a seemingly impossible quest, when such a quest is not actually out of the abilities of the one making the attempt. Thus, Compassion (However well intentioned) has resulted in that person's inability to grow as the quest was essentially "done for them", hindering their growth and happiness.

Some helpers can be awkward and do more harm than good with their actions, increasing the suffering and unhappiness in the world. A well meaning follower of the Light may rush to the aid of an adventurer(s) and wind up gaining too much interest of those attacking, and thus force those they try to help to rush to the follower's aid.

This is why compassion is taught last; only the wise and those fully understanding compassion may identify who is truly in need and who can grow on their own.

Ranks
Ranks of the church are broken up into two branches. The priesthood, and the paladins. Non light users are still welcomed with open arms, though it will be difficult for them to rise when compared to the priests and paladins.
  • Bishop
  • Commander
  • Priest
  • Templar (Any class)
  • Initiate (Any class)

Bishops and Commanders are the high ranking members of the Priests and Templars respectively.

Members
  • Leader Tarian
  • Bishop Voran
  • Priestess Jaeden

F.A.Q.
Can other classes besides priest and paladins join?
Of course! You don't need to wield the light to believe in the three virtues. However, warlocks, death knights, and shadow priests will have major problems joining the church. That said, they still might be able to join some of our events.
How do I join?
Simply contract a bishop, master, or the leader, Tarian. Either of those should be able to get your character initiated.
Is there a uniform?
No, but we recommend that all bishops/masters wear [item]5976[/item] or [item]64915[/item]. (You can't addrpitem the latter, so pick it up from Sindreal at GMI.)
What sort of things will you do?
We'll be running quite a few events that will try to push the remaining Scourge out of Eversong and the Ghostlands. Of course, we'll have general do gooder RP in Silvermoon as well. In addition, I'm sure we'll talk a lot of shit about that other light wielder guild.

The Roll System
Since the system we used for the Scryers got such a good reception, we'll be using it for the Church of Silvermoon as well.

Setting up a Character
Everyone will need a character sheet to be in our events. They'll assign their rolls to the following stats:

CON - HP, basically.
DEX - How often attacks hit and crit.
STR - How much gets added to physical attacks.
INT - How much gets added to magical attacks.
WIS - How much gets added to heals.

To set up a character, you have 15 points. Mages and Warlocks shouldn't bother with STR, and Warriors shouldn't bother with INT. After you assign the 15 points, add 8 to everything. Then simply post the following on the topic or PM it to me.

Spoiler:
Code:
[b]Name:[/b]
[b]CON:[/b]
[b]DEX:[/b]
[b]STR:[/b]
[b]INT:[/b]
[b]WIS:[/b]

These stats will determine how often the character hit, when he/she crit, and how much damage they do/heal. I'd list all the formulas we'll be using, but I tend to tweak them every time I look at the program.

Leveling
All characters start at level 0, with 15 (or 55) stat points. For each event, they go up one level.
  • Level 1 - 3 Stat Points (First perk.)
  • Level 2 - 1 Point
  • Level 3 - 2 Points (Second perk.)
  • Level 4 - 2 Points
  • Level 5 - 1 Point

Perks
Perks in red are DPS perks, perks in blue are tank perks, and green is healer perks. DPS and Tanks can mix their perks, but healers can only chose heal perks.

Perks that are Not Yet Implemented cannot be chosen.

Spoiler:
Berserking (Bs)
When HP falls below 34%, the player gets a bonus to crits and base damage.

Armor Breaker (Ae) - NYI
Every attack has a 50% chance to soften a target up. Crits have a 100% chance to do so.

AoE Specialization (Ae)
AoE attacks deal more damage, and can crit for x2 instead of x1.5

Eagle Eye (Ee)
When the user misses, the next attack will deal more damage, and will have a greater chance to crit.

Graze (Mm)
When an attack misses, you have a 50% chance to deal a much weaker attack instead of the miss.

Spiked Block (Sb)
When you dodge/block an attack, your character will deal some damage to the attacker.

Distract (Ds) - NYI
After being attacked by an enemy, the next ally to attack gets a bonus to damage and crits.

Taunt Specialization (Ts)
Instead of a taunt dealing 50% damage, taunts do 75% damage, and get a bonus to crits.

Crit: Healing (Ch)
Req: Priest, Druid, Blood DK, Paladin, Shaman, WIS > 11
When the player crits on a normal attack or an AoE, ~50% of the damage is converted into a self heal.

Heal Crit: Single (Hs)
Req: Healer
Enables the ability for heals to crit. A crit heal does x1.5 healing.

Heal Crit: Self (Hr)
Req: Healer
Enables the ability for heals to crit. A crit heal will heal the user for .7 + 1 of the heal.

Smite and Heal (Sh)
Req: WIS, INT > 12
When alternating between healing and attacking, the other choice gains a bonus.

Test of Faith (Tf)
Req: WIS > 15
When the player is close to death, base healing increases.

Inspiration (Ii)
Req: WIS > 15
When a heal is successful, the target gets a bonus to attacks and heals.
