An End To One Thing

Hawk Wrote:The only problem is that when we create a new RP area, it's used for about a week before being left to collect dust. Just look at the Anchorage. At least if it's an already used location then it'll last longer. *shrug* And from what I got from Rosencrat's post, there's not going to be anything drastically changed about it.

I think another point of concern is that after we tampered with the bay in the Bubonic Bay storyline, it didn't really seem like it ever really recovered, as far as the number of people RPing there.

(As much as I don't care for Booty Bay, I'd rather people RP there than not RP at all.)

Though that could just be inactivity. But, I doubt such a large and well-used area like that would be the target of this event.

Well, all I can say is that if Redis and his little army of undead are not killed on sight...

... There's your cheap labor force. Let's get to building.

Edit: I guessed it would be the Catacombs, but didn't tell anyone else besides Nightonnub.. Hmph.

Redis will most likely be very active apart of this then, since he was suppose to be the next Caretaker and all..

Mmmm...This was what I was afraid of. Blasted wording.

The location in question is one that hasn't seen RP in quite some time.

Also, because of the deluge of people sending me.their guesses, I see no harm in saying that the catacombs is the location.

Destruction and rebuilding sounds awesome to me. Of the Catacombs means that I have logical explanation for my characters to be involved in the rebuilding (I think)! Before I was simply wondering who would be destroying and who rebuilding and for what reasons but this easily makes some sense to me.

Nope.

Nope, nope, nope, noooope.

My months of leading two large guilds has made me EXCEEDINGLY wary of things like this, especially when they're kept so secret. I dislike secrets. Alot. I especially dislike it when I am OOCly lead one way, then OOCly lead another for the sale of "plot".

I want to know the whys and hows and wheres and whens and whos before I make any sort of supportive decision.

I don't trust people. At all. Not after my months of leading, not after the plague event.

Sorry.

Note: I'm not too worried about lack of RP there. Duraza haz plans. Don't you, my favorite villain? :D

The secretive nature of this all is an unfortunate necessity. Though I dislike withholding information from the player base we have to keep certain information private to prevent meta gaming.

In the same way that jungle fever taught you to be way of secrets it taught me to be wary of releasing information.

Mh'm.. Catacombs.

Tricky, as I believe the catacombs have already been through some things in it's life. Assault being one of them. However, I do feel I'm truly not interested in another destroying and rebuilding of the catacombs. (Seen it before) There's no structure, no organisation to keep RP there lasting and interesting. (Or so I tend to believe.)

I was more hoping in the direction of a town, in which good and evil can just.. have a go at it, as I truly wonder the motives of 'good' aligned characters (I believe there's more good then evil on CotH) if they wanted to help out. I think, there would be very little interest in-game sadly. I know I wouldn't bother with the rebuild if it's the catacombs, but that's just me. Destroying, maybe.

I don't know, I don't find the place to be really interesting anymore. In it's current, or future state.

Edit: I do not agree with the jungle fever secrecy though, but you already know that as I had send you a PM back then. Open communication = less drama. ^.^ Come to the player's, and the player's shall come to you. But that's naturally, just my viewpoint on how I would bring such things forth. Maybe I'm wrong, as I've never had gigantic news to report, but I do believe telling people what they can expect, when, and ask / work with how they would like to see things, cuts a lot of drama out.

Edit2: Wording and stuff.

There is some merit to that line of thought. I think a good argument deserves its reward.

The catacombs will be destroyed because, ooc, it is a dead location with no activity that has a poor layout and lackluster command structure.

The event will begin with a cataclysm that renders the catacombs unlivable. Players will be tasked with retrieving valuable items and rescuing important figures from the war-zone.

The catacombs residents will move above ground and to a remote island. They will seize the island from a hostile force and rebuild it. The island will have two segments: a purely evil military tower and a purely neutral village. The neutral village will allow good and evil to come together for role-playing in a quasi-peaceful atmosphere.

There will be a clear leader and government for the new island.

After its establishment events will be held periodically to generate good versus evil role play.

That is the barest minimum of information on the intended event.

Now that's something interesting. A town worth fighting for.

With that said, awesome to see you taking the post to heart. I would take off my hat, but I'm not wearing one.

*Tips hawk's hat instead*

I'm interested at least now, fun how my stance seem to switch per post in this thread. ( /snicker) I'm sure both evil masterminds and paladin groups may want to fight over the village, to either enslave it, or bring it freedom. Would the good versus evil roleplay allow the switching of forces and factions in the village? Say evil holds it the first two weeks, but good being able to take it over at some point, and holding it for two weeks? (I can imagine it being the most fun, if the two sides are equal and it comes down to unfolding events, the difference in tactics and arms, or such)

Apparently, the rumors of Rosen's events weren't false. With the minimum amount of info you can give us, you've already interested me at least.

Psychyn Wrote:Say evil holds it the first two weeks, but good being able to take it over at some point, and holding it for two weeks?

Now that's an interesting idea.

A very doable idea, actually.

This island will actually be the first attempt at using the self-phasing system. For all those unfamiliar with phases, a phase is a copy of the Worldcraft world where mobs and certain objects are not present. One can build an entire city in phase 1 and then, upon switching to phase 2, see only a vast, empty stretch of nothingness.

One could, with a bit of elbow grease, create a phase for each standing group. When seized by evil forces players would be sent to a phase where all of its architecture and inhabitants have an evil influence, while when it is under the control of the good group players would be sent to a phase where all the guards and citizens are all bright and smiling.

However: The logistics behind organizing such back-and-forth combat would be rather difficult. That, and it may pose some difficulty for people who do not enjoy combat RP. We will keep the idea in our minds and see if we can't use it in part. That, and there has always been a standing rule that we keep building to a bare minimum when we can.

Until now it will be considered as a neutral town, where shadow and fel users can practice with impunity and light-wielders are treated with the same derision and cruel subjugation as Shadow and Fel wielders suffer in other major cities.

Also, I've edited the original post to express the exposition in the preceding three pages. Honestly, I'm surprised this garnered so much attention.

I approve of the idea and will participate on multiple characters!

Mmh, depending upon its location, I may get multiple characters involved. If it's in Northrend, those pesky Breathers could be in conflict with my group of Deaders. <3 And, no matter where it is, a few choice characters will participate.
