Server Restart Date

It sounds like with the revised timeline we may need to edit some of our profiles anyways.

Alright! I think a character wipe will do most of us good at this point anyway.

About the pre-approved process, what if we are doing a class-change and we are currenly righting IC Thread about it?

Would that require the old history, plus, let's say, a link to the IC forum thread?

Something that I was considering was to only allow characters fitting certain criteria to go through the "fast-track" of pre-approved characters. Notably, those characters that are level 80 and have been logged on within the past month. I already made a list of them and exported it into a spreadsheet which folks can check here.

Why do this?
While some may see it as yet another horrible restriction/change, my intention is to limit the amount of characters that have been collecting dust. Furthermore, I wish to limit the amount of characters that will be put through simply for the level-up and money and then shelved immediately. This will result in a bit less work in going through pre-approved profiles.

Also bear in mind that the pre-approved process would be for characters that need little or no changes. If you intend on bringing characters back from inactivity by completely changing their history/vocation/etc., they wouldn't really be eligible anyway.

Something else to bring up is the process for the 'fast track.' I'm envisioning any eligible characters would have a dedicated queue, and while you'd only be able to submit one at a time, there would be no cooldown period of a week like normal profiles. Furthermore, normal profiles probably wouldn't see attention until a wee bit after the restart date.

What if I've been inactive for a bit? D:
I haven't forgotten about you! A tentative thing I have in mind is to allow one or two pre-approved characters that may be eligible. But again, that is tentative, as is the rest of the above!

Now, I realize that if someone really wants a pre-approved profile put through again, it's going to go through one way or another. I think the main thing is to just ensure that active characters get higher priority initially.

What do folks think? I imagine it'll probably be a largely unpopular decision, but keep in mind that it'd really just equate to a bit of a longer wait for most characters that aren't on the list.

Sounds like a brilliant idea in all honesty, as I've seen people with as far as 20+ approved characters. I always wondered ; How the heck can you play even half of those characters actively?

.. Then again, that is just me. I would however agree with the small loop hole of perhaps allowing two (Or one) character(s) to be shot onto the forums for re-approval given that it's indicated in the profile post so the forum guys can keep track of it.

It'll also sink the ridiculous amount of gold in-game, as apart from hoarding desires there's no direct real use for it. Skills and mounts, and that's it. Professions if you are into it, but not everyone is that.

I'm in favour. Active characters first, all your 'prized played only once every two weeks' characters later. Naturally, this is not aimed at anyone nor do I have something against people with 20+ characters, it just does not make sense to me.

At the risk of asking obvious questions, would it be safe to assume that any characters who do not yet have profiles (approved or otherwise) don't require any special action (aside from re-making them post-restart) on the part of their players?

Again, sorry if that seems like a dumb question. I wasn't here for the previous restart (restarts?), so I'm a bit mystified as to what to expect.

The only thing you would be expected to do is remake your characters as they all are going to be wiped.

I dislike this idea, mainly because I not only have quite the number of characters, but that a good handful see RP rather often. ~7 or so.

...Then again, there are ~20 others that see RP once or once every two-three weeks, so you do have a point if you choose to implement this.

I might be inter-dasted at trying this server out again. I miss roleplay, but when I logged on to see a Blood Elven dominated Horde, I felt the same loss in ambition that has happened so many times before. The race has truly killed off the Horde, in my eyes. I personally think them even being a part of the Horde in the first place was a stupid retcon on Blizzard's part. They had everything aimed toward the Alliance. I can go off forever, but I don't think it's wise to make myself look like a fool in this situation.

Not to derail too much but...

Blood Elves wouldn't go to the Alliance. The Alliance denied them flat out, Garithos went "lolno" and attacked them. It would take an even bigger retcon to make them Alliance. Plus Sylvanas was over on the red side.

/shrug My 2 cents.

This really isn't the place for the elves and Horde discussion, just saying it's a bit of an off topic. As far as the date goes I'm look forward to it; I just hope the rp doesn't grind to an entire halt on Wednesday :B

I suggest you copy them over into text documents and store them on your computer.

Or PM them to yourself. If that's more convenient.

I'd advice against storing them in the actual forum, however.
