My question is this: Does having a former runemaster Death Knight add anything to the roleplaying experience for yourself and others?
If it just makes your character somehow objectively different, it has no real use on the server. I mean, really. What does a Death Knight running around naked mean for a story other than, "Hey, he's not wearing heavy armor!" if you were to make such a situation balanced.
That being said, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to, say, a Death Knight involved in, say, the promotion and the study of runes, as everyone has their passions. In fact, if you did have an undead runemaster, why not embrace the idea of his past craft being taken from him, just as all the other Death Knights must deal with?
I believe you mentioned that the character in question is a Tauren- wouldn't that huge leathery surface make the perfect living example of runes to show others, or something?
Enh, I don't know much about Runemasters. But when you're designing characters, give as much thought to how they fit into Roleplay as you would anything else about them.
