Krilari rambles: On the OOC Cavern.
#1
(Sorry Rigley!)

‘Lo everyone,

To be noted, I do not mean to specifically point anyone out in this post, nor do I mean direct offense. This is simply my observations and my comments on such.

Forewarning: There will be light cursing in the post as to use for examples and such, if you’re sensitive over the issue, I suggest adverting your gaze from the quotes.

The OOC Cavern: A place we all know well as a good number of us spend hours upon hours in this cavernous home of a particularly mouthy black dragon (Who also has a tendency to disappear and reappear every once in a while.) Never the less we all love to have a good time OOCly as much as we do ICly, but there is a point where things seem to cross a few lines, and that is something I would like to address in this post.

1. ChatCavern
While we have our chat channels, such as Chat, Barrens, Looking for Group and Adult, the greatest compilation of them all comes in what I call ChatCavern. While hanging out OOcly, everyone is free to debate, idly speak, form groups for raids as well as RP or simply AFK as you cook delicious, delicious foods. Never the less, while it is a combination of all the chat channels, this can also bring up a number of issues.

Firstly, people seem to forget the boundaries of public chat channels.
Quote:Strawman says: Hey babe, I’m gonna impale you on my spear, going all the way through~

This is something I’m seeing more and more often, and frankly I do not like it. Yes, it’s good to have a joke here or there, but there’s a point where things go too far. If you really have the overbearing urge to post sexual innuendos in a chat channel, take it to party, whispers, or the Adult Channel (Though remember, the Adult Channel requires an age of 18 and it is a punishable offense if you disregard this rule).

Another common issue comes across in the form of profanities.
Quote:Strawman says: f**k! I stubbed my toe!
GM says: Hey watch your language, please.
Strawman says: What do you mean my language? I’m speaking English!

I will tell you this now. This will piss anyone off to no extent, nor will it make your situation any better when you’re being talked to about your poor attitude.

No, I’m not asking for you all to be mindless slaves to the GMs. No I’m not saying that you can’t joke around, but when you blatantly disregard the rules, and then to cover it up with something that sounds like complete disrespect, there will more likely than naught be consequences further along the road.

A final point in regards to chat that I would like to bring up is Respect !
Quote:Jawless Jack says: you know, I wonder if the dragons are secretly working for the Old Gods or something? I mean doesn’t Nordomu and Ysera seem to be pretty apathetic to the mortal’s plight..?
Strawman says: …That’s completely stupid, Jack. How can you come up with such a idiotic idea..?
Maedea glares angrily at Strawman.

As always, we hold Respect as our number one rule, and it is something we damn well like to pride ourselves on. Here on CotH, we value –everyone’s- opinion. If you think they are wrong, then say so in a constructive way that may help you both. If someone has a wrong view on lore, you don’t go screaming at them in all-caps, you politely point out the issues and perhaps even nudge them to a lore source on whatever the issue may be.

2. Open Office
A nice idea originally posted by our every own Rosencrat, The Open Office has come to be a constant occurrence on a daily basis to take care of any possible issues one may have (Even boredom). However the Open Office is hosted by the GameMasters, not the players. If a player poses a question to the collective Gms there, allow the GMs to file their opinion on the matter first. Once the GM is done explaining, if an onlooker has a different opinion, then would be a good time to voice that opinion in a calm, polite and way that doesn’t seem like barging in on the conversation with no tact. Once more, it’s one of those things that tend to set the Gms slightly off, especially if they’re dealing with a hot-button topic.

3. Cavern Complaints
Quote:Jawless Jack says: Man, I can’t use my mounts in here!
Maedea says: And if I die, I’ll probably end up somewhere in Westfall!
Strawman: says: And it’s sooooo big! Ugh, everyone is so separated!

One simple answer to these issues: we know. To be honest, that is the reason we chose this cavern to be our OOC zone.

“If I die, I may end up in some random graveyard!” – Originally, this was not actually in our intent. When we first tested the cavern, you should be able to appear right ontop of your corpse with ease and revive immediately. Yet for some reason or another that didn’t seem to take hold…

”I can’t use my mounts!” and “It’s too big!” – Once more, there’s a reason for this. It’s simple psychology. If you are more separated and less involved in OOC ordeals, you may be more inclined to go out and actually Roleplay. Does it work perfectly? No. Does it work? I would like to think to some degree, yes.

4. The Damned Dragon…
It wants to breathe fire on you? Yell “Fos Ro Dah!” back at it. Works like a charm.

Never the less, thank you for reading and have a good day.

Wait. The Adult Channel punishes you if you're not eighte- *sneaks to /leave adult*

EDIT: Wait. Does yelling 'Fus Ro Dah' actually help ? o.o

It's a joke to lighten the overall serious mood of the post.

If it did work, that would be awesome though.

*Hides the guilt about the spear joke.* Wasn't me...

Sorry for this~

tl;dr We still police the OOC zone as if it were a combination of all the chat channels, except for adult. Adult stays in a /adult.

I reserve my right to complain about the dragon.

The rest of it looks stellar though, good deal.

I would like to request more spectral tigers in the OOC cavern that I may AFK with my comrades in lavish style.
