Arcane Consumption
#1
Can other races get addicted to arcane like blood elves and high elves do? Can they abuse it as if it was like a drug?

Is there a way to draw out arcane from magical creatures or artifacts like a mana-tap? Perhaps something like a mana-drain?

I was also wondering if we're free to interpret the affects of arcane consumption if it can become addictive and someone can withdraw. Would it be a stretch to say that it may be relieving to sate it? Or that it may make one feel like they've had a bolt of energy through them, or even make them have a light, giddy sort of high? I wonder if I could even go far to say that someone could get sort of drunk off of it?

Just want to know :B

Quote:These human mages, however, were even more reckless than the night elves had been. The high elf mages warned their human pupils that magic was addictive, but the acolytes dismissed any suggestion that the tragedies that had befallen the elves would also afflict them. The humans were no better at resisting corruption than the elves had been, and eventually the arrogance of wizards brought the Burning Legion to Azeroth once more. Once again, great acts of heroism were needed to spare Azeroth from destruction.

This is taken from the Wowpedia page.

This gives me the impression that if humans can become arcane corrupted/consumed , chances are gnomes and trolls would too. I'm not sure about draenei, though, but I haven't come across anything that confirms they would or wouldn't either.

It's mostly an assumption.

Draenei are just normally uncorrupted because of their training in self discipline and many years of practice.

But yet, other races can most definitely become addicted. Casting magic in and of itself is euphoric and most magi have trouble not continuing to cast spells once that first one is let loose. So thinking, if one were to have cast spells and consumed mana potions for a long period of their life, to suddenly quit and stop would undoubtedly leave them in an irritable state but, more importantly, a hungry state. It's pretty much like any other drug, 'cept magic-y.
