Grakor's New Feedback Thread
#31
Grakor! Our first one-on-one RP in a long time has just concluded. And it was good, as always! I enjoyed it a lot, and hope that Gruld and Grak get to hang around more often. Grak's always been fun to RP with, and I feel that he's a great match for Gruld so far, even if they are sort of opposite. We should explore them more, and see where it takes us. They're fun together so far. :P

Not sure what to say about you OOCly, except we need to hang out and talk more! You seem kinda off-in-the-distance sometimes, if that makes any sense. Talking is good. RP is good. Let's do more of both.

... I'm too tired to write anything else that makes sense.

At the moment, I can only give feedback on Ulfarr, as I've encountered him twice by far.

I really like how different he is from your usual character, and he's a relative breath of fresh air. If there is a downside to him, it's that his sardonic snarkiness can be, in all honesty, rather grating. Not sure if that's intended, but at times, my character feels like he wants to slap Ulfarr (and I'm RPing my nice guys) for not talking straight. I do know it's his coping mechanism, however. Perhaps it is surely intended? I am tempted of an encounter that'd get him to drop the snarkiness some, but I am not good that sort of thing unless the player gives me material to work with. And more often than not, they don't, as I'm not naturally confrontational OOC unless I know how to handle the problem.

Long story short, love Ulfarr, his snarkiness can be funny, but it can be annoying as well. Unless you do want my nice guy to slap him. I will gladly provide.

Lemme comment a bit on Gunnar and Ulfarr, since I had specific intentions with them and I'm not sure if they're coming off exactly as I wanted them too:

On Gunnar: He's something of my essay on inter-racial and inter-factional relationships. Yes, he's married to an orc. He's also terrified of that becoming public knowledge, which is why he doesn't press certain subjects, especially in completely Alliance company. Especially with the war heating up again in Cataclysm, he doesn't want the fact that he's with an orc to get out. That said, he's not supposed to be completely spineless: he's a defender and has the bravery necessary to be the guy to take the hits for others. I'm not sure how to make all of this come off any better than I have, since I'm concerned about making him more assertive when it comes to combating racism would be against half the point of his relationship with Gorzan, in a sense.

On Ulfarr: Yeah, he's supposed to be a little grating. Sort of that guy that has a good heart deep down, but you'd have trouble finding it under normal circumstances because he's too busy cracking jokes and just generally being sarcastic. If someone wants to smack him for his snarkiness, go for it. I'm surprised no one has done so yet.

Feedback, you say? Well then~

In Role-Play:

I have to admit, when you do hop on to RP, I tend to get a little nervous most of all when playing my orc because I'm afraid of doing it 'wrong'. Beyond that, RPing with you is always a joy. Your characters have a thick line between them and I could easily tell them apart if I was unable to see their models and name. Their personalities show through their words and their racial culture really plays out well for them.

What you're doing with Gunnar? Keep that up. I love seeing inter-racial relationships played out with a strong mind to the consequences of what happens if someone finds out. You don't try to leave mysterious hints about what's going on. Gunnar doesn't get his panties in a twist when someone says something about an Orc because he's smarter than that. The fact he tip-toes over glass when it comes to his personal life is admirable and the fact that I don't think anyone beyond those extremely close to him know about it is a testament to how careful he is.

As for Thragash, I have to say that I love the character just for how open and 'free' he is. Character's that can take a joke and return it are always great. Ulfarr also does this, but the styles of joking are vastly different. Thragash return sit in kind while Ulfarr seems to put a twist on his words that can make it hard to realize he just made a jab at you. These two are perhaps my favorite two to interact with out of you arsenal, not saying I dislike your others though.

On the flip-side, we've got Grakor. I'm greatly looking forward to Emra's future interactions with him because he seems like a good role-model to base a shaman off of. Wise, calm spoken and level-headed are some of the worlds that come to mind, I'd also toss 'tranquil' in there. He's a lot more 'proper' in mannerism and it's hard to tell exactly when he gets set off and angry. Like when he dumped water over the arcanist. Did not see that coming, I didn't even realize he had gotten angry.

In short - I like how your characters are unique with their own quirks.

RP Outside of Coth:

While this doesn't have much to do with Coth-related feedback, I feel I should add it in anyway. You've always shown up for every one of my sessions when I run warhammer fantasy and are always offering me suggestions. I've had a rocky start with it and you've been nothing but helpful when I run into a snag. I'm getting the hang of it now, but still, thank you for helping me while I learn table-top DMing.

Also, thank you for being engaged in the RP and nudging the group along when they need it. I swear we'd be a couple sessions behind if not for you.

The Grakanator OOCly:

Oh man, I was scared shitless of you and Kretol when I first logged onto TS. I think I've had more whiplash about my opinion of you than I have about Krilari when I thought he was Anski at first. Ahem -

I think there's a lot about you that people will never experience unless they actively get onto teamspeak. Despite a very rocky period with you after the axing of prestiges, I can only say good things about you as a person. You surprise me every now and then, which is good. I will never get over the songs you've linked me from youtube. Which, by the way, Soccar practice. It's in your head now. Unf.

You are someone I like to consider a good friend. You're enjoyable to speak with and to joke around with. You make your line clear so it's very easy not to cross it. When you said you were going to leave the server a while back, I have to admit that I was really upset. I can't put into words why, but the thought that you might drift away from us and no longer communicate with us was very upsetting because you're truly a great person to speak and 'hang out' with.

I'm not afraid to be myself around you because you have a very comforting 'feel' about you. i certainly hope I don't annoy you half to death and you're just too nice to say anything about it. :|

Drats - My thoughts have scrambled. I suppose I can't TL:DR everything I said in a small sentence. I don't mean this as joking either, it really is a summary of what I think.

You're a bro, and we should RP more.

Here's a quick post to say that I didn't mean for Gunnar to throw out hints that he's married to an orc, only that he doesn't seem the type to have strong opinions over anything. He would say "Well, that's your opinion" instead of arguing or having a friendly debate. He's a good boy paladin, but is there anything he would argue over?

Up we go!

How is Surthak? Got a lot of RP on him for Kidnapped.

How am I doing OOCly? Still rough around the edges, I think, but I'm hoping I'm improving.

Let me know!

Going to keep this short because I have a paper to write...

So, I haven't RP'd with you a lot, per se, having only encountered you on Thragash before Kidnapped. I think there's this enjoyable aura about Thragash as a character; he's very bubbly, talkative, and upbeat. He's the type of character that seems to be dominant in a conversation, and this is likely a reflection of his past. However, I've never seen as much conflict shine through that character as I've seen through Surthak. I get a feeling from Surthak that he forms relationships with people and invests in those relationships, and in doing so, he as a character has more to lose. I never saw that in Thragash.

Or perhaps I haven't had enough RP with Thragash to see some of his conflicts. To put it simply, I need to RP with you more. Then I can give you some stronger feedback on both characters.

@Geoni I think that this is mostly because of the differences between the characters. Surthak is, rather intentionally, my weakest character from an emotional standpoint. More than anyone else I have, he really has to depend on people because he himself has quite a bit of baggage and the like. I'd like to think that Thragash is a "healthier" character than Surthak is, but I may not always do a good job showing off his own problems since I'm too busy having fun with him.

We should RP more, you. I hear you got an orc, too.

I heard orc RP. We should figure that once I come back from my 'vacation.' You might like Ghazlug.

This is gonna sound silly coming from me. My impression on Surthak, by far, is that he's your "softest" character. Let me explain.

When I see Thragash, I get a boisterous, amiable bruiser. With Balgarn, to me, he's emotionless yet humorous in his lack of such. With Grakor, he's aloof. With Gunnar... well, I haven't really met Gunnar in recent memory (Kidnapped 3 was still my most numerous encounters with Gunnar despite Kapre befriending him prior), but I still love him. Though I have RPed with Surthak maybe a couple times prior, I got the most of him here in Kidnapped. Maybe my impressions are skewed because our interactions were seldom despite seeing each other fairly often. I will say this:

I felt for him. When he showed concern, worry, and support for Gron, I couldn't help but root for him. He was like a sad puppy who needed love, but the fact that this could fail is what made me feel for the guy. He didn't get too much into the action due to a concussion and, well, the silencing barrier, but nevertheless, what I could get out of him was sympathy in his predicament. I did, though, find it amusing that of all the folk out there, it's Surthak who took Lovar down when he took Kitson hostage. I'm also amused that it's Surthak whom Kitson got his firsthand experience with an orc face-to-face.

Surthak is a sweetie. I hope to see more of him soon. And you in general.

Short one, twas long ago:

While I had Harg in operation (something that may happen again) it was always a barrel of laughs RPing down in Booty Bay with you. You provided a fresh perspective to RP, at least to me, compared to what I'd experienced to that point. It's been since then that I've favoured the Old Horde races, as before I didn't appreciate the depth of character that could be attained by them. Orcs before then were dumb warriors, not deep characters. I'd thought their 'gruffness' would prevent any light hearted fun. You showed me wrong, so thank you.

I don't know about ICly, but you're quite nice to talk to on GMI! We'll need to RP sometime!

The RP I've had with you has been pretty dang fun, Grakor. I think you've got an incredibly good mindset for the orcs, both in interpreting their lore and RPing them out as actual people - the hurdle which a huge amount of our community are still terrified of. Orcs are difficult, there's no denying.

It's kind of a moot point since you've brought it up, but you're a bit of a wallflower and difficult to snatch when it comes to actually initiating that RP - I'm going to fix that by pestering you to high heaven!

Apologitoes for the short post!
