[WIP] Service After Death: A Death Knight Guide
#31
I think you should address My favorite book inside WoW in some way.
Because its the best.

Okay, so I'm saying this actually because it says some things in there that's always bothered me, even though its pretty much a joke book.

It's a joke book, really. I've seen people on Paragon take that book seriously and mistake it for Ebon Blade rules or something. Mostly to argue with the "Death Knights can't do that" on nearly everything. And they always forget that one it mentions the need for more cowbell, and two that it mentions the Lich King and how he ran things and such. Surely the Ebon Blade does things differently. But I've almost forgotten about that lovely book! I'll be sure to make a little section for it.

Bit of a necro post, but I'd suggest another Death Knight archetype:

The Dark Knight
Damned, cursed with undeath and the hunger, the Dark Knight still retains enough of his humanity to follow a corrupted version of the creed he did in life. Wandering in search of a quest of a new ideology to champion. The Dark Knight will defend the weak and fight evil on principle, but the hunger gnaws at them. Much like a mistreated dog, you never know when the Dark Knight will turn from a friend into your deepest fear. The Dark Knight walks a line between good and evil, and wavers dangerously.

That's my DK.
Cayce Northend - Druid of the Cenarion Circle
Micheru Bloodrune - Moonglade Ranger / Vagabond
Gratua Daggermouth - Walking the path of Lo'gosh
Medrit Brightwind - Wandering Swordsmaster

This is actually a very common archetype and I strongly endorse its inclusion.

Anyway, this is looking great so far, Sachiko. Just drop me a line if you still want help for the Forsaken section and we'll chat :B

Tell me more about Blood DKs. I get the idea that they have powers based around what blood normally does in the body, such as temperature control and such, but what else, and to what degree? Do they have telekenesis specifically for blood, in what ways do they affect others, etc?
What keeps them from just making the blood not go to the brains of their enemies and have them die in minutes?
And what's the "theme" of blood DKs? From what I understand, Unholy knights have plague and decay, Frost have the whole "cold is mysterious, scary and of the dead." (Vaguely worded and generalized, but you get what I'm saying)
In this guide, its suggested that they're kind of the least dead, but for what purpose? How does blood powers help them be good tools of the Lich King?

(tldr; I don't know anything about blood DKs, tell me as much as you can that's useful for RP purposes)

I'm gonna pick this bugger back up and expand some on Blood themed DKs more. I might ask a few others what they do with them since I tend to sway away from combat RP most of the time. And Sol, I'll be getting to you soon enough. This guide will be finished some day!

Also, I just noticed that DKs in Archerus have visible breath. So, this means that they're warm and have a tendency to breathe, or is this a derp on blizzard's part?

I want to say that's just a derp game mechanic. Some DKs may be able to raise their body temperature and breathe by reflex. I'll mention this somewhere in the guide as well.

Perhaps they have to be a certain temperature to not have their fleshy muscles freeze or something? Whatever makes them more efficient weapons, I suppose.

Actually, perhaps that's part of the theme of Blood DK? Using their near perfect preservation to make them better warriors than, say, just a skeleton?

I noticed that, in your guide, you say Death Knights have blood (though not having found proof in the lore of it). This does seem to be confirmed in the tooltip of Icebound Fortitude which says:
"The Death Knight freezes <his/her> blood to become immune to Stun effects and reduce all damage taken by 20% and an additional ammount based on defense for 12 sec. (Does not remove existing Stun effects) Instant. 2 min cooldown. Costs 20 Runic power."

Gonna work on this thing again soon. Utilized the new player tagging system that Kretol added in!

Also. Relevant.

It's gonna take some time to comb through it and bring it to date with policy changes.
