RPing as a Child
#1
So, I was thinking about making a character today and then I thought about the neat idea of role-playing as a little 12 or 13 year old. What's the rule on this? I never got around to researching it on the Wiki or Forums yet, but I just wanted to hear from the higher-ups because I'm in what you would call a "creative mood" and I need to invest it into something.

Unofficially, I'll say it makes me very wary. First of all, we can't have in-game models that reflect that age range, so it's hard for people to realize as fast as they should that they are speaking to a child. Also, RPing a child is difficult to not... overdo or underdo. (Making the character too childish for their age or too mature.) Really, I'd suggest avoiding it.

Aye, the answer I expected to see. Though everything you mentioned about in-game models not being available and personality was already thought thoroughly before I posted this. I was actually too curious for my own good to try and ignore this idea to move on and not ask. But if you suggest so, I respect it, as you are an avid CoTH RPer. It's just such a neat idea for me to work on and if there was -any- way I can discuss it with you(the GMs) to go through with this idea in a controlled structure, please say so.

Playing a child would probley be the hardest thing to do, however, if I were to attempt to RP as a kid, i'd probley do a lot of these things...

Stick the fact that you're a kid in your FlagRSP2 or anyother add-on of that sort.

Announce through a /e -anytime- you encounter someone (Would realy hate to do this one)
Like /e waddles through the tavern, a short stature and a childish step to his walk.

The greatest problem would be getting across to the other person that you're guy is actualy a kid. I suppose if I were in this situation, i'd just RP as an childish person and if the other RP'er treated me like an adult or something that he wasn't, i'd tell him through whisper.

::Shrugs::

I don't think i'll ever RP as a kid, seeing as how the enviorment that the server is in right now is full of adults and a kid won't last a minute with maniacs like Andre, Alistus and Tobala. (Sorry if I forgot anyother worth mentioning psychos out there. xP )

A neat idea, but if you can't find someone to follow around, a mentor perhaps, then the kid is gonna be home bound.

...A mentorship would actually be pretty neat if you found someone that was active whenever you're on.

Heck, if you come across as a screwed up kid, i'm sure Tobala would be glad to exploit teach the kid...an apprenticship with the psycho Tobala?..What could possibly go wrong?

Hehehe, silly Tobala. Yes, a mentor thing could work out. Ah well. I'll drop it now. Another idea just popped into my mind. This discussion is over. Unless some randomies hop in.

I used to RP as a Forsaken Child. (Yes, an undead child) ...rather, she died when she was a child, and she never really grew into anything resembling serious adulthood.

It wasn't that difficult to pull off, HOWEVER, that is because I played her as a hyperactive, never stopping, bouncing, exuberant, candy-scarfing child.

However, I can definitely see how difficult it would be to pull off on a server like this. It could be ridiculously difficult to pull off.

Edit: D'oh, just in time to be late!

Yeah, I did a Human Kid, he was a Gnome IG, but his Guild title was <Human Child> SO people saw that.

It wasn't hard to do, but it could get a little boring for those that like to explore. You have to take into account, it's a kid! It can't go all around the world on it's own!

Kinastrovex has just teetered over the tender age of 15 and is fooling around with magic she clearly should not be. She's probably a little too self-dependant, which is why I'm trying to get her a mentor or guide of some sort.
Really, it's just a pain to justify a kid doing much compared to an adult. Even a mid-teen needs some sort of guide or helping hand to make sure they don't fall into the hands of...well, Alice.

Here's to a shot at that. Cheers.
