Ark vs. Trinity
#16
Ark! I would be willing to wait for the new gear and the like if it means that Worgen and most of the areas are workable.

Perhaps Ark first, and then keep Trinity open for testing for a later switch. Then some of the problems that the core currently has might be resolved with further investigation. Plus, don't want to see those Mac users go.

how many do we have anyways?

While we don't have exact numbers, Mac connections make up less than half a percent of the total hits we get.

Still not optimal to ignore them, especially since two of our GMs are Mac users. But, we also have to kind of accept that Macs really aren't gaming computers and there's only so much we can do with how limited support and dowload options are available to them.

Enough where it'd just be rude to abandon them.

I also vote for Ark atm. It seems the easier to fix, and I'd rather my Worgen work properly.

Ark. Pretty sure we'd cull a few GM's that are mac users if we didn't. That would be very counter-productive.

Plus. Worgen are fun when they work.

Agreed with Rensin, ark would be great.

I feel the vast majority of the server would be ok with the 'hassle' behind switching from Ark to Trinity when that time comes.

Might as well cut to the chase and go with Trinity.

Most of the problems with it seem to be minor inconviences. Even then, it will be updated constantly and those things will be dealt with.
That and it's not a mess under the hood, which would likley lead to problems.
Plus, Ark seems to have more irritating problems over all.

And...

1. Better "under the hood" support. Updates are done cleaner and the code work is neater.
Good enough for me.

Trinity, based on a rough SWOT analysis of the whole thing. 'At's my vote.

The logical progression should be Ark and unto Trinity if it can be fixed to accommodate both Worgens and Mac users.

Here's why:

Trinity was being made to be THE core. Not just 'a' core, the core. From ground up, learning from the pre-Cata Trinity development, it was being made from the ground up to be superior, a well oiled machine. Unfortunately, from what I remember Trinitycore was stopped in development and won't be moving forward. So unless our staff has the capability to code this out or make a very suitable workaround for the issues, Trinity is honestly a snag option. It is like living in an unfinished mansion in which you're rained on when it rains, as opposed to a more modest and quiet house. Certainly, I've no doubt our industrious team can fill an empty area with skill and capability if left to their own imaginative creativity. And hopefully so a Worgen fix may be found with our tinkering around, we've made some quite commendable workarounds for things in the past, and a Mac client may be laid out in detail on a guide. I run a mac, others do, and like many agree, the cutoff of the Mac users would be just unacceptable.

Until these points can be amended, in my opinion, Trinity is just not an option. The cons sound horrendous to me, something I couldn't swallow down and fix with my capabilities. Truly so, Ark seems like it must live up to it's name. All the ice of Wrath has melted and we're damn ready to jump on a boat to fresher waters. Everyone's tired of Clovis washing his purple in the water and getting it all purple-ish. The coding may be a nightmare but the cons are just minute compared to Trinity. I was honestly not expecting it to be as bad as it was. While I continue to have the utmost faith in the staff, I think it would not work smoothly if Ark were to be looked at as a springboard for Trinity, if Trinity remains unfixed of these Cons. Start the Ark server and open a Trinity one for routine testing. Don't make the switch too early.

Suffice to say, I'm leaning towards saying Ark would be the logical step. All the races work on it and it -is- possible to fix most of these database issues (or at least thats what I assume from the opening post anyway). The Technical issues for Trinity, namely the worgen and these spikes in lag, look like the sort of thing that would take time to fix.

As for Trinity being at a later patch...there isn't really that much that would benefit rp if the reason was for going trinity was because of 4.3 (Transmog being that only thing - The day were allowed to rp in Dragon Soul or the Molten Front is...never going to happen I reckon) isn't a wise one.

TLDR - Ark then maybe wait for Trinity to catch up. There's not much benefit in going to later patches, so why worry about the hassle.
