TLE Presents: The 2013 "Love-Is-In-The-Air" Festival!
#16
Lo and behold, contradictory to my own personal plans, I'm going to Las Vegas with family to visit family. No, we're not going to the Strip.

There are chances I may come home the same day, but given the time we have left and that I had to pack clothes "just in case", it is not likely I'll be able to host Sunday's event, morning or evening. If that is the case, the ice skating race is postponed until Thursday.

Ugh.

Congrats to Carter the gnome for winning the first Ice Skating race.

Matthew redeems himself with Tarana in the second race. Good job to Tarana, and I will not compliment myself.

Though Tarana and Matthew technically won, neither knew what to do with their prize.

This is the result.

Spoiler:

Ophelia (Maarten77) is our winner at the 11 AM Strip Poker game! Congratulations on the win!

Next game is at 7:00 PM ST. I may be late, but I believe Caravan will cover hosting if that's the case.

ImagenAshyun Wrote:A point system will be provided if you fulfill the above. In addition, an added point will be granted if you wrote the song yourself.

This should go without saying, but make sure you clearly mention in /raid or other form of OOC that the song is not yours. Do not try to pass off another song as if it were your own. Thank you!

Thank you to all of our participants! It was a joy to read the originals that y'all came up with as well as the interpretations of some beloved songs.

For those who missed it, here are our performers!

Amura Ridaken-Sunfire with "My Only Flower"* :
Spoiler:
Xanthe reads the first name on her list of participants, "Umm, will an Amura Ridaken-Sunfire take the stage, please?" She glances around the audience.
[Garridan]: Amura, the stage is yours.

Amura looks around and stands up. Helooks around taking deep breaths as he heads up to the stage. The lights sprinkling over his form as he turns to the audience smiling once and Xanthe and then taking a deep breath once more.

Amura gulps and begins singing soft in a low tone:
"Roses have thorns, but are what is adored?
These daisies are lasy and the rest are so boring,
but one flower..." He says holding the 'r' and building momentum, he raises his arms slowly stomping his foot.

"...Has my heart and love where I'm storing..." He looks to Xanthe, smiling.
"This is my An-the-um...To my favorite Chrys-Xanthe-um!
The Anthy-um- To My favorite Chrys-Xanthe-um!" He turns to the crowd smiling .

[Xanthe]: ....
[Garridan]: I didn't like it.
Xanthe covers her face with her hands, her ears drooping a little as she blushes in her embarrassment.
Marthus claps excitedly.

Amura begins dancing poorly, pacing the stage back and forth appearing to feel happy.
"No other one, No Lover son'
I don't put none above her some...
May not understaaaaaaaand." He points scanning the crowd.
"But I will take her haaaand,
our toes in the sand! My Anthym
To My Cryhxantheum!" Amura holds his hands in the air stops at a finish.

Dunkhaan cheers at Amura!
[Milly]: [Low] Men're always tryina' woo the women, ain't they? Right sweet, right sweet.
Milly politely claps for Amura.
[Xanthe]: [Low] Oh, I am very happy that Kapre is not here to hear this.
[Garridan]: [Low] Why? Is Xanthe his sister?
[Xanthe]: [Low] My name is Xanthe.
[Garridan]: [Low] Hmm... no, I don't get it.
Garridan takes to the stange. "Yes, that was... Amura with... whatever the hell that was. I'll call it "My only flower"."
Amura sits with a smile. He flashes Reigen a thumbs up.

Reigen leans over to Astia. "<...Wanna be an acomplice to murder? No court could ever convict us.>"

Milly Appleflow with "All Twenty Six" :
Spoiler:
[Milly]: "This song's a lil' somethin' I cooked up. It's short but it means a lot ta me. I jest call it 'All twenny-six.' Lemme clear my throat."

Milly clears her throat, and spits some phlegm into the snow. "Pardon." She mutters. The elderly woman scratches her chin before singing in a mezzo-soprano. She sings in Common.

"I remember the days you were here.
Ohh I remember the days you were near.
Though yer spirit lives on!
I may be old, I may be crippled.
but ya won't get no trouble from me.
Cause' I know the Light's taken ya,
an' soon enough I'll be'a-following." Milly pauses to clear her throat and search her mind for the words.

"We said our goodbyes,
sweet husband of mine. B
ut I know we'll be together; all twenty six,
extended family, and you and me!"

Milly grunts after the song ends, her face a deep scarlet. Though she's faced worse than dealing with a crowd, so she stands tall. "S'my rather short song, if you'll forgive it."

Camillia Firescribe with "Morning Light* :
Spoiler:
Camillia pauses, her hands coming to settle before her. She takes a deep breath, beginning in a Soprano:

"Morning Light: I greet you with a kiss,
huddle close beneath warm covers,
simply enthralled by this bliss.
The world is ours to discover.

"War and terror are so close at hand,
and blood stains the fair meadowland.
Just hold me in your pleasant embrace
and grant me a kiss for a moment's grace.

"From beyond darkness we wade,
breathing in the light of day
and from Light kindness cascades.
I pray our paths never stray.

"War and terror are so close at hand
and blood stains the fair meadowland.
Just hold me in your pleasant embrace
and grant me a kiss for a moment's grace.

"An oddity we form, you and I,
a myriad of wounds and scars.
Yet hand in hand we look to the sky
to see our spirits dance along the stars."

Camillia bows her person as the song comes to an end. "Thank you."

Jared Richter with "Over the Hills and Over the Land"* :
Spoiler:
[Jared]: I come before you to sing a song of old Lordaeron. I learned it in King Terry's barracks when I was put a training footman.
Maeia tilts her head at Jared's uncharacteristic display of theatrics, covering her face with a rotted hand to hold back a giggle.
[Jared]: It's an old song of Lordaeron's armies . . . And I would like you to extend a thought to those armies today, as they heroically march across Hillsbrad to bring order and reunification to our broken nation!

Royal glares at Jared with seething hatred.
Milly wrenches her hands. "[Low] Ain't gon' shoot, ain't gon' shoot..."

Jared straightens briskly, vertebrae audibly popping. He squares his shoulders and throws his arms around, stretching, then clears his throat. "I've changed a few of the words." He coughs.
After a few croaky, strained false starts, Jared manages to ease himself into holding a reasonable note. His singing voice might've been fantastic ten years and a life ago, but now it's just . . . an odd growl.

". . . here's forty silvers for the first . . . who'll volunteer to face the worst . . .
Who'll take up sword and shield to stand . . . over the hills and o'er the land!"

This is indeed a familiar tune to many -- it recurs through the armies of many human nations. But Jared seems to be making a hoarse, croaky mockery of it.

"O'er the hills and o'er the land . . . through Hillsbrad, Strom and down the Span . . . we march and fight at Queen's command . . . over the hills and o'er the land . . .
When duuu-ty calls me, I must fight . . . to stand and face my fell foe's might!
With fire in heart and sword in hand . . . over the hills and o'er the land . . .
O'er the the hills and o'er the land!
Through Hillsbrad, Strom and down the 'Span!
We march and fight at Queen's command!
Ooo-ver the hills and o'er the land . . . "

"Through falling arrows and pounding guns!
With colours blazing like the sun!
We march as one in columns grand,
o-ver the hills and o'er the land . . . "
Jared 's fairly impassioned music-bellowing takes a discordantly sorrowful note as he hits his next verse.

"If I should fall in foreign mud . . . if battle should steal my life's fair blood . . .
Then have them play, our piping band . . .
Over the Hills and O'er the Land!
O'erthe hills and o'er the land!
Through Hillsbrad, Strom and down the Span!"

Jared gives up. He starts shouting:

"We are the sword in our Queen's hand!
Over the hills and over the land!
The King is dead! Long live the Queen!
LORDAERON!"

[Lobelia]: The King is dead! Long live the Queen!

*After:
Spoiler:
LORDAERON IS ETERNAL! LORDAERON NEVER DIES!

Dunkhaan with "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm"* :
Spoiler:
** In-Game Notes: Dunkhaan made great use of the Draenei dance, totems shining light on everyone, and basically reflecting in the disco ball glow. **
Dunkhaan eyes Allira in the crowd, smiling before putting down four totems around himself. He then bursts into toe tapping and slight prancing about the stage as he begins.

Dunkhaan bursts into dance.
Maeia watches the draenei curiously- what is this dancing.

Dunkhaan sings:

"You make fire from hands to weather storm....I have my mate to keep me warm...
She soft like snow, sharp like thorn....I have my mate to keep me warm...
My tendrils quiver when I see her form....I have my mate to keep me warm...
I know without her, I would be torn....I have...my....mate...to keep me...waaaaaaaaarrrrrrm!"

Dunkhaan slides forth on his knees, almost falling off the stage at the end!

"I love you, Alliiiiiiiraaaaa!"
*After:
Spoiler:

Marthus Verino with "The Wind That Shakes The Barley"* :
Spoiler:
[Garridan]: Give us a name for your song, please.
[Marthus]: 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley'... For my wife.

Marthus clears his throat. He starts singing in a deep, slow tone:

"I sat within a valley green,
I sat me with my true love...
My sad heart strove to choose between,
the old love and the new love...

"Old for her, the new that made me think
of Westfall deeeearly, while soft the wind
blew down the glen, and shook
the golden barley...

"T'was hard the woeful words to frame,
to break the ties that bound us...
But harder still to bear the weight
of foreign chains around us."

23:40:50 Marthus swallows a lump in his throat.

"And so I said, 'The farmer's glen...
I'll seek at morning eeeearly.
And join the brave Militia Men,
while soft winds shake the barley'.

"While sad I kissed away her tears,
my fond arms 'round her flinging.
The foeman's shot burst on our ears,
from out the wildwood ringing..."

Marthus sits on the edge of the stage, his feet planting on the stairs.

"A bullet pierced my true love's side,
in life's young spring so eeearly...
And on my breast in blood she died,
while soft winds shook the barley.

"But blood for blood without remorse,
I've taken at the hollow...
I've lain my true love's clay-cold corpse,
where I full soon may follow.
As 'round her grave I wander drear,
Noon, night and morning early,
with breaking heart when e'er I hear,
the wind that shakes the barley..."

Marthus looks down at his hands for a brief moment, eying the wedding band around his finger. He looks out to the crowd, the song ending there.

The play was a success! Everyone had some laughs, OOC-for-IC issues spilled into the story, people fell and tripped, dignities were lost, gas issues were had, and all around fun for all!

The Festival is officially over! We may have the grounds up for casual RP, but we'll see. Thank you all for coming!

Was the play worth the death of art? Garridan says no.

Art had to die for comedy to live on.

Got twenty Word pages of logs, but I'll put the play up (with costume pictures!) ASAP so people who missed it and want to see it may do so!
