Welcome!
Lok'Tar! Conquest of the Horde was originally a private World of Warcraft RP community that focused primarily on roleplay within the WoW setting. Originally established in September of 2007, CotH enjoyed a healthy reign of over seven years focused on WoW roleplay. On January 22nd of 2015, a DMCA notice was issued, resulting in a halt of the WoW RP focus. Now, the community has expanded to encompass multiple worlds in various games and settings. This community will serve as a hub for members to join like-minded individuals in any game or environment. The community itself will also host a few game worlds of its own after development progresses enough.
While the dust is settling after the revelation of the WoW server closure, feel free to hang out and see how development goes!

  Important News Regarding Alignments!
Posted by: Harmonic - 04-03-2009, 02:46 AM - Forum: Community News - Replies (30)

After we talked it out, and seeing the debates and such spawned in the forums and on other's profiles, we've come to the conclusion that Alignments are -not- needed when creating a character. While it is a nice guideline to have when creating a character, we've found that it seldom sticks to a character for long, or just never comes into play.

Alignment is actually an outward perception placed onto a character for whatever reasons, and therefor is extremely hard to determine when not met with vices/virtues, or something similar. So, in short, the next time you make a profile, you do not need to include alignment anymore, but a lot of the guides and such will still be there in case you feel like using it as a base to shape your character.

Also, the wiki will be edited accordingly.

  Gold and Silver Tokens.
Posted by: Harmonic - 04-02-2009, 08:53 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (3)

You cannot get gold with Silver Tokens. I've been asked this several times, and we've run into people actually trying to trade gold for stackable items that sell for a very high ammount to vendors.

The reason we do -not- trade gold for tokens is a pretty basic reason. Before long, we will be selling Silver tokens off a vendor, and if you are making a huge profit from tokens you trade in, you could get an endless supply of Tokens.

Now, as some people see this as a grey area, I will say it before it starts. IF you are trading in tokens for items that sell more than what the tokens will be worth, (Somewhere around 350G or more), we -will- see it as exploiting.

Any GMs that wish to elaborate, please do.

  Server Focus Change
Posted by: Kretol - 03-31-2009, 11:42 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (58)

(Note: The below was an April Fool's joke!)

I've been thinking long and hard about this. And... I've finally come to a conclusion.

I am changing the focus to a FFA PvP server. So many other private servers out there seem to be PvP, and they seem to have rather large populations. I feel that taking it a step further, with FFA-PvP, will be even more successful.
I've noticed that I haven't roleplayed hardly at all, and I really enjoy the PvP aspect of the game. I feel that with Free for All PvP going on, it makes it even better, so you can have group or even raid-based battles. Due to this, however, I believe it's best to take out any forms of cross-faction communication for reasons similar to Blizzard's own; that is, to avoid cussing each other out. In order to prevent people from simply logging in to the opposite faction character, upon the next login, a prompt will come up requiring you to decide whether your account is Horde or Alliance. All characters opposing the faction you choose will be automatically deleted.

I am sorry to those that have enjoyed their time here, but again, since my right-hand man (or orc, as it were) has all but vanished, my desire to RP has dwindled down. I hope those that are affected beyond reason to this change can find a happier place elsewhere.

As many folks have noticed, Alliance have lost the ability to speak Orcish. In place of that, everyone can now speak Gutterspeak. Hordies can still speak Common, though.

Gutterspeak should now be used in place of Common if Forsaken are present for cross-faction communication. It should NOT BE REGARDED ICly. I had heard of arguments arising in the past where some people would say "But my character doesn't speak Orcish!" when requested to switch to it when a Forsaken was present. It should have never been seen as IC in that regard.

Thanks to Gwen for the idea, as well.

Once again, this has finally been re-implemented. The server used to be FFA by mechanic before WotLK, but I had some issues when I tried to reimplement it, and had other things to take care of first.
(As a quick history note, here is the topic for when it was first implemented.)

The differences, now, are that people can easily party up to trade (presuming you're of the same faction, as per normal), in addition to partying up to avoid accidentally hitting one another, even with AoEs. So long as you're partied, you won't have to worry about it.

Once again, I believe this provides more realism. If this proves to reasonably be too much for people to handle, then I will consider some other solutions I have in mind. Also, keep in mind that I will listen to constructive comments and feedback about this.
