Welcome!
Lok'Tar! Conquest of the Horde was originally a private World of Warcraft RP community that focused primarily on roleplay within the WoW setting. Originally established in September of 2007, CotH enjoyed a healthy reign of over seven years focused on WoW roleplay. On January 22nd of 2015, a DMCA notice was issued, resulting in a halt of the WoW RP focus. Now, the community has expanded to encompass multiple worlds in various games and settings. This community will serve as a hub for members to join like-minded individuals in any game or environment. The community itself will also host a few game worlds of its own after development progresses enough.
While the dust is settling after the revelation of the WoW server closure, feel free to hang out and see how development goes!

  A Not-So-Gentle Reminder
Posted by: Grakor456 - 02-21-2008, 09:52 AM - Forum: Community News - No Replies

For those that remember, the server was brought down a while ago to revise server policy and stop the influx of what could only be described as "god characters," or characters that are far-off from WoW Lore or were popularized to the point that the supposed rarity of such characters was lost. This is how the current "class title" idea came about, even if few actually bother to use it (which may actually be a good thing.)

However, it's been brought up that players are up to their old tricks, just in different ways. So, to spell things out more bluntly:

1. You cannot play a non-standard race without express permission. This includes morphs from standard like Fel Orcs or the upcoming Felblood Elves. They were never intended to be played and it takes a certain kind of RPer in order to do them correctly and well (not to mention they'd get killed in any civilized location almost instantly.)

2. You cannot give yourself powers that stray too far from your class or what is acceptable in WoW Lore, without permission. Fel magic is the domain of Warlocks. Blood Elven Paladins cannot use the Light in the same manner that Alliance Paladins do (they must steal it from the Naaru.) Etc. etc. Now, there is a bit of leeway here...for example, it's not beyond the realm of reason that a Mage has a few spells not in the standard list, so long as it is not overpowering and it fits within their theme. If you stray too far from your race/class theme, though, expect to be called out on it and punished accordingly.

These rules are not new. I'm restating what should have been understood from the get-go, but some players apparently did not understand the first time. If Kretol, Qaza, or Reetha ask me to come on to deal with a problem player who refuses to comply, I will be VERY pissed off. Don't let that happen.

Patch 2.4 - and information re: future patch/expansions
Posted by: Reetha - 02-13-2008, 11:51 PM - Forum: Community News - No Replies

Recently there's been discussion about the recent patches and expansions of World of Warcraft and their inpact upon this server. We'd like to try and dispel rumours and speculation before it starts and make everyone aware of the plans for the server before 2.4 and the next expansion goes live:

Whenever new content is added to the Live servers, it takes at least several weeks before we're able to implement it here; getting quests working, fixes put in, and so forth. Also, as is all too often the case, game content often requires scripting, which is not something we're capable of doing, and as such most quests, items, game events or other dynamic content just doesn't manage to make it to an emulated server and is impossible to fix. Add the inevitable "nerfs" and changes which occur after a patch goes live and we're talking a considerable amount of work. So we cannot guarantee that the patches or expansions will coincide with the Live releases of patches, but we will add content as soon as possible.

In addition to this - keep in mind that we are adhering to the lore of the server, which means that there is, in essence, no actual new IC content, considering the timeline of the server itself. The Sunwell will not have suddenly appeared - it has always been there. We know this can sometimes get tricky to play when there are so many changes, but we ask people to not suddenly incorporate tons of new backstory to their characters solely due to a new patch.

Primarily, this is a roleplaying server, and the world is merely a backdrop for our stories. Enjoy your time on Live when you wish to see all the content new patches and expansions have on offer, and enjoy your time here when you wish to roleplay!

  Auction House Bot

The AHBot (Auctioneer) is currently on vacation. He will, ideally, be back soon.

On the other hand, guild-related things should be working properly now.
