Welcome!
Lok'Tar! Conquest of the Horde was originally a private World of Warcraft RP community that focused primarily on roleplay within the WoW setting. Originally established in September of 2007, CotH enjoyed a healthy reign of over seven years focused on WoW roleplay. On January 22nd of 2015, a DMCA notice was issued, resulting in a halt of the WoW RP focus. Now, the community has expanded to encompass multiple worlds in various games and settings. This community will serve as a hub for members to join like-minded individuals in any game or environment. The community itself will also host a few game worlds of its own after development progresses enough.
While the dust is settling after the revelation of the WoW server closure, feel free to hang out and see how development goes!

  4/5 PM - Cable Modem Upgrade
Posted by: Kretol - 04-05-2011, 12:04 AM - Forum: Server Status Updates - Replies (2)

So I decided to purchase a new cable modem! I've had the same one for quite a while, and have read reviews and feedback of people getting substantially faster speeds than their plans advertise as a result of utilizing DOCSIS 3.0. Being as I tend to like acquiring the 'latest and greatest' in technology (well, if it provides a significant upgrade), I decided to make the purchase.

At any rate, sometime after I get home from work today I will be switching out the cable modems. It involves calling my ISP so the new one can communicate on the network, so expect downtime of up to an hour (though I imagine it shouldn't take that long).

This will probably happen sometime in the evening, perhaps a few hours after I get home (I'm scheduled off at 6:30p). I'll post again once I'm about to start the process.

  4/4 AM - ISP Maintenance
Posted by: Kretol - 04-02-2011, 09:50 PM - Forum: Server Status Updates - Replies (1)

Sometime between 10am-12pm server time on Monday, technicians will be coming in from my ISP so as to diagnose why my cable modem is intermittently losing connection. There's nothing actually wrong with the modem itself, which is why they need to come out and find out what the problem may be. A time window between 10am and 12pm was given for this day.

As a result, connection will undoubtedly be abruptly lost sometime between these times for an indeterminate length of time. So, don't be surprised!

Edit: Maintenance concluded!

  4/2 - Connection Choppiness
Posted by: Kretol - 04-02-2011, 08:59 PM - Forum: Server Status Updates - No Replies

Seems my internet connection has been rather sketchy today (and perhaps the past couple of days as well). So, the server has not been crashing - it's simply been the connection.

Just a status update as to what's up with all these disconnects!

  Conquest of the HORDE
Posted by: Kretol - 03-31-2011, 11:04 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (41)

When I first created the server and chose the name, it was really the first thing I could think up. I just wanted to make it obvious that the Horde was awesome (because it's true!). However, after several years, I figure it's finally time to make the name actually have meaning!

Henceforth, only Horde characters will be allowed to be created (and logged in). It has been no secret that I'm biased towards the Horde (and particularly orcs), so I figure I may as well finally enact a new law. I've already altered the server code to prevent Alliance characters from showing up, and I'll also convert all Alliance characters to their Horde equivalents as soon as possible. The first possible automated script I have in mind is the following:
Human -> Orc
NElf -> BElf (can't disrupt the elf-ness!)
Dwarf -> Forsaken
Draenei -> Troll
Gnome -> Tauren

My other proposed script is the following (and I'm more liable to do it):
Human -> Orc
NElf -> Orc
Dwarf -> Orc
Draenei -> Orc
Gnome -> Orc

However, I understand that not everyone can fully comprehend the awesomeness of orcs. To those people, I can only suggest to try your hardest! I'll be holding support groups to transition as easy as possible.

GMs will be standing by to eradicate any non-Horde they see. Probably with a [item]23836[/item].

P.S. I have stolen all your wimminz.
