Welcome!
Lok'Tar! Conquest of the Horde was originally a private World of Warcraft RP community that focused primarily on roleplay within the WoW setting. Originally established in September of 2007, CotH enjoyed a healthy reign of over seven years focused on WoW roleplay. On January 22nd of 2015, a DMCA notice was issued, resulting in a halt of the WoW RP focus. Now, the community has expanded to encompass multiple worlds in various games and settings. This community will serve as a hub for members to join like-minded individuals in any game or environment. The community itself will also host a few game worlds of its own after development progresses enough.
While the dust is settling after the revelation of the WoW server closure, feel free to hang out and see how development goes!

  Retcons and Character Deaths
Posted by: Grakor456 - 12-01-2010, 09:37 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (14)

There's been quite a few incidents of drama lately. While I will not comment on anything specifically, I will say this, and institute it as law, here and now:

You can not retcon character death. Period. You put yourself in the position to be killed, you RPed your character dying, and you accepted those consequences when they happened. It was on you, you chose to allow it to happen. Retconning it is a cheap way out of a resurrection post, and that's not a good thing.

As an aside, I'm looking into ways to revise the character warning system so that character death is not as common. We'll see how that goes in the future.

  Happy Thanksgiving! (And an Idea!)
Posted by: Kretol - 11-25-2010, 01:36 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (46)

I hope everyone has a great and scrumptious day today, for those who are celebrating! Thank you all for being part of the community!

So, here's an idea I had considered about a week ago. As some folks may be aware, I had implemented a sort of 'permanent' custom displayID a while back. Ideas of making it 'mainstream' so to speak happened even before we went into TrinityCore, but there wasn't really a good way of doing so that I could think of. I know there was a lot of disagreement with the handling of the prestige system in regards to it being too open. Quite a contrast to the previous implementation, I know.

The idea I came up with was to have an application subforum for custom models (which could be something as simple as a warlock's "pet" demon, or something like an ogre or goblin). The purpose of this subforum would be for any interested people to pitch their idea. They'd include such things as the race, the purpose of its existence, how it'd interact with players, if it'd be based in a certain location (maybe), affiliation, etc. To avoid overpopulation of these special characters, they would undoubtedly be rare. Any Grunt would be free to post, but a GM may not reply with a decision unless the time has come to allow another custom character in the world and we feel the player could portray it well, or the presentation is not done well (either the idea of the character or if we feel the player would not be able to handle such a unique role, is not an active member of the community, etc).

If the idea is approved, the player could create the character and I'd set them up with the proper displayID and appropriate faction adjustment.

What are everyone's thoughts?

  'Thanks' MOD
Posted by: Kretol - 11-19-2010, 07:28 PM - Forum: Community News - Replies (39)

As some may have noticed, I've installed a 'Thanks' MOD to the board. This should help quality posts and threads be easier to distinguish.
Over time, I'll go through the language file and set it to more proper English (I'm a stickler like that, I admit). Furthermore, I may change the term 'Thanks' and 'Thank' to 'Like' and 'Liked' and whatnot.

So, if you see a useful post by someone, feel free to 'Thank' them for it!

That's right, folks! The Conquest of the Horde Podast is once again brought to life thanks to myself, Cressy, and DrinkArizona! We'd love it if you'd listen to us talk about the server and things! If you want something brought up on one of the future installments of the CotHcast, please, feel free to message myself or post it up in the brand spankin' new CotHCast subforum!

Also, thank Kretol for allowing this little project to continue...And the subforum.

Hope to hear from you all,
Helvete, Cressy, and DrinkArizona
