I feel that the "defend the GMs" posts aren't really necessary, and can in fact be just as harmful overall as any post that criticizes us. We don't need defending, and more importantly we *want* people to speak up if they disagree with something. They'll be less inclined to do so if a gang of defenders rises up every time a criticism is voiced.

Know that this wasn't intended to be a "defend the GMs" post as much as it was an attempt to point out a particular pattern that I saw ruin a potential for a bunch o' fun.

But - I'll keep to myself. I wanted to put this out here in the hopes that it may have prevented something.

I don't think he meant you specifically, but just generally that having a ton of people post in `defence´ or just in support of GMs or any idea could have a bad effect since people might be less inclined to come up with new stuff or criticism, and instead just keep it to themselves, heh. Anyway, I think Krent nailed it, so don't anyone dare trying to post about him being wrong, 'cuz then we'll have to send the Gestpo on your ass.*

I agree that critism is best told and not held in, as it might very help the GMs deal with problems and improve, not to mention find bad eggs among their ranks. But I find that complaints on a paticulare GM or Player is best sent to the GMs(To anyone except the GM you might be complaining about) privately, I'd suggest that that PM or email should contain Screenshots, or something like that, proving(or supporting) what you're accusing this person of.

Accusations should never be taken lightly because even if a big group of players would find someone's accusation laughable, a group that is often just as big take them very seriously, and great arguements tend to be created from that. What I believe, from my own point of view, more general critism, like or lore or maybe something else like that, is easiest dealt with if posted in a thread for all the GMs to reply to, but any specific complaints (harassment from a GM or a Player, a group of players, like a clan, that is god moding or anything like that) should (once again according to My own opinion) be dealt with privately. A PM to one of the other GMs, a ticket about it, anything like that, just not a thread on the forum, cause that usually just leads to a huge load of mud-slinging to the right and the left.

Of course complaints on the GMs shouldn't be kept quiet about, because they can very well be valid points and if the staff on a private server ain't nice then that's going to rub off on the rest of the server.

That's all from me, cause I suspect that I've repeated myself about 10 times by now. :]

A recently started Sonic forum for all ages and shapes. We discuss both old and new Sonic stuff, but by no means keep ourselves on just that area. We're a community of gamers, artists, role players and the like.

Please pop in and have a look. :]
