Just how "dead" are DKs?

After the dark rebirth as a Death Knight, ressurrection... would it still work?

And if so, would they return as a Death Knight or would they return as a Paladin/Warrior/WhateverTheyWere?

Undead and those tainted by dark magics can never be resurrected as they were. Such dark powers force the soul to become Undead and dark as well, a state that can only be changed by a Wish spell, and some other plot device ability from the D20 I forget right now (Wish is a 20th level Wizard spell we will never ever use, carried to War D20 from DnD during some unholy pairing I didn't witness. It lets you mold reality to your whim once.).

And on another, unrelated note, would the art of crafting a Vampiric Runeblade for a psychotic form of karma be feasible, or was the art lost?

Only the Lich King makes them now, really. In fact, the first one known -was- the Lich King (Frostmourne). As far as I'm aware, only his top few generals have vampiric runeblades. All of the Four Horseman have one now or had them at one point, but those few are the ones that exist.

Ah, Wish and Miracle, the two most powerful spells ever brought into existance that required you to write up a ten page list of conditions explicitly stating what you wanted without any possibility of misinterpretation so that it may for once, just once, actually work in the method intended.

Vampiric Runeblades are pretty rare, only the chief makes them, and most high ranking Death Knights have one as well.

It's actually impossible to resurrect an undead if we follow true lore, any undead reduced to 0 HP crumbles to dust and can never be brought back (Except for good old wish and miracle, which as before stated, do not -ever- function as intended). But for the sake of fairness we allow them resurrection as well.

The wish spell is something noone will ever get here. D&D has something similar...except, if you use it and botch there is a nice long list of crap that could happen to your character if they botch...such as turning into a long list of different animals, or...destroying all of creation.

I became a fish once, that was unpleasant. Wish has also rendored my character insane before, along with various other ailments.

Long story short, if you mess with wish, it'll mess with you. D:

*Cracks knuckles* I might change my mind about wish. Hehe, I could do it so that the wisher gets whatever -I- interpret them to wish for...

*Slight cackle* Can you tell I've been a pen and paper GM for too long?
