The secrets of RP part one- Improv!

Serenwylde:

-Someone romantically interested in them?
She probably would not answer their feelings. She's too much of a free spirit so to speak, even at her age. She'll drink with them, fight them, talk to them... Not much else, though, despite whatever wording she may resort to.

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
She would shrug and move on. They were never her type of people anyway. In fact, she'd be happy. She'd just have escaped from another leash.

-Having a child?
Typical Kaldorei gestures of leaving the child to be raised by the community, rather than raising it herself. Not that she is an uncaring mother, but she's done it a few times before, so... If there's something she perceives as special about the kid, she'd take to it like a fly to honey, but it it doesn't 'click' so to speak, she'll just do the old routine.

-Friends/family killed?
Vengeance. There is no other verdict possible.

-Being outsmarted?
Blink, grin stupidly, nod once, then challenge said person to a fist fight or drinking game.

-Being told a bland joke?
Scratch the back of her head, sigh and tell the respective person to try harder next time.

-Stepping on a nail?
She'd take it with a stony face, despite the fact that deep down inside, she's screaming the kind of words that make birds fly from the trees half a continent away.

-Eating something disgusting?
Eat it, stick a finger up her neck, then proceed to... exemplify the reflex commonly associated with the gesture upon whoever was cursed with the lack in cooking aptitude.

-Buying a slave?
Free it. There is nothing more important to her than freedom of choice...

...excepting maybe drinking and brawling.

Spoiler:
Clovis Briarthorn

-Someone romantically interested in them?
~ Clovis isn't used to being in a relationship, not that he isn't incompetent in the game of love. He prefers his women short, curvy, witty and capable of motherly instinct. He'd be confident around a woman he's known for a while, otherwise he wouldn't take anyone very seriously if they just professed their love to him right off the bat. He'd be most comfortable with a human...but he isn't picky about Alliance races.

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
~ Depends on the job or task. On a smaller scale thing, he'd deal with it. For larger, more serious tasks, he'd be enraged and somewhat self destructive afterward. He'd be mortified if people died due to his failure.

-Having a child?
~ He'd try his best to implement the child into his life. He'd love and care for the child while hiring a wet nurse or babysitter to raise the child when Clovis needs to attend to work. When the child is old enough, around nine or ten, he'd take the child into the front lines with him as his Squire.

-Friends/family killed?
~ Pained outrage, mournful weeping, silent sorrow. Unless the friend or family member was very close, or very young, he would not go out for revenge.

-Being outsmarted?
~ If it was between friends or rivals, he'd shrug it off without much issue, not really caring. If he was publicly humiliated, he'd either attempt to improve his image without dealing with the offender, or if the person who humiliated him persisted, go for raw intimidation.

-Being told a bland joke?
~ Nervous Laughter, sometimes just a blank stare.

-Stepping on a nail?
~ Stop where he is and groan, contemplate how the hell a nail got through his armored boots, groan again, remove the nail, and heal himself, hoping no one saw.

-Eating something disgusting?
~ When it comes to bad food, Clovis is brutally honest. (Since he'll tolerate some pretty bad food as is.) If it really is that bad, he'll let you know it.

-Buying a slave?
~ Clovis finds slavery disturbing, and an affront to all that is good and just in this world. To the point where he'd even drop his racism to defend a slave of a different race, even a troll. Not that he'd be kind about it.

Rigley Darrson
Spoiler:
-Someone romantically interested in them?
If the character meets his specific requirements of a relationship he would become extremely emotionally dependent of them. If not, he would likely fail to even perceive a possible relationship.

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
Disinterest.

-Having a child?
Extremely unlikely, but he would raise the child to the best of his ability. His ability isn't very good though in that respect, so...

As well, if he was in a relationship with the mother still he would probably be border lining negligent with the child, honestly. Rigley is an affectionate person, but he can usually only manage one at a time.

-Friends/family killed?
Most of his family is dead, or unknown. If his friends were killed he would become morose, and likely just sink further into madness.

-Being outsmarted?
Rigley has been outsmarted plenty of times. He takes it well.

-Being told a bland joke?
Odds are he wouldn't understand it as an attempt at humor anyway.

-Stepping on a nail?
"Ow!"
He would then try to figure out how a nail got through his armor.

-Eating something disgusting?
He would politely keep his helmet closed. Or store the food for combustible material.

-Buying a slave?
Idunno. Guess he'd just buy a gnome and hug it.

Rhunwyd
Spoiler:
-Someone romantically interested in them?
Rhun would see this as a grand opportunity cause none are so vulnerable as when emotinally devoted to someone. Could also mean trouble cause romance and the concept of love make people act against reason.
-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
He would only be by his own choice for some schemy reason.
-Having a child?
Others almost revere children and their actions always so predictable when children are involved. Perhaps I should get me one.
-Friends/family killed?
When mother dies, I have to take my seat as leader of the bloodline. A waste of time, so let us make her live as long as possible.
-Being outsmarted?
Calls for revenge.
-Being told a bland joke?
Do I wish to humour the joker? Yes, then I'll produce some sort of chuckle. If the joker is a menial thing? Then I'd not be bothered.
-Stepping on a nail?
Time for healing equals inefficency.
-Eating something disgusting?
I'll not have that. Why would I let myself go through something such, what would be the purpose?
-Buying a slave?
The best slaves are those who are not even aware of it.

A lot of this is context sensitive. I typically limit my character's grudges to a few days, and choices will typically be influenced by recent events etc..

Anyhow .. here goes:

Randian:

-Someone romantically interested in them?

He might take interest if it was a belf female and see where it goes.
In the case of Taelyn, he just shrugged it off not really taking it seriously. ;)

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?

He would most likely hang his head in shame.

-Having a child?

He would be shocked at first and process the information in a very hands-off, mechanical way. After a while ..perhaps a few RL days, he would do his best to father it. He would be rather pleased and perhaps try to groom the child to follow in his footsteps. (( Ugh, I hope this doesn't happen ... Boooring! ))

-Friends/family killed?

He would be shocked - which would lead to some form of reclusion. He would probable follow up with a very passive attack on whoever did it, using indirect means so an not to *sin*. Resentments do decay over time, so the closer it is to the time of the event, the more volatile the reaction.

-Being outsmarted?

He might shrug it off if it was a trivial ordeal, otherwise he would probably sulk or something similar.

-Being told a bland joke?

He would probably analyse the joke trying to figure out what it was about it that was supposed to be funny.

-Stepping on a nail?

He would yelp and leap. Assuming no foul play is detected he would just grumble. If it happened outside of his homeland he would probably grumble about how poorly kept the area was.

-Eating something disgusting?

He would quickly search of a proper place to dispose of the half-chewed food while retaining it in his mouth. If he was under some sort of social pressure however, he might attempt to force himself to swallow it. If this happened outside of his homeland he would most certainly complain out loud about the substandard food and then pine about how much better the food in Silvermoon is.

-Buying a slave?

He would not. Period. However if he saw someone buying a slave:
* If the slave was a human he would probably chuckle to himself.
* If the slave was an Alliance member he would just ignore it.
* If the slave was sin'dorei he would do whatever he could to help him get out of the situation.
- Cepht -

Randian - Sin'dorei Priest, Representative of Greystone Charities
Riley Gillespie aka "Stars" - Unhinged forsaken vagabond with a flare for fire
Alonus - Fallen holy priest with a pet serpent named "Ricky"
Haugus Bach - Forsaken Warlock with an appetite for torture and revenge. Previously a humble shoe maker.

Jason Vandermar

-Someone romantically interested in them?
He would immediatly react and use his....skills, unless said person is from another race, or is creepy in general.

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
He would curse and swear, spend his time drinking a fair amount of ale and move on to the next job.

-Having a child?
He would curse himself for his stupidity, figure out how he's going to cope with it, and eventually be a good father.

-Friends/family killed?
Revenge.
-Being outsmarted?
He would scratch his beard and continue.
-Being told a bland joke?
Again, he would scratch his beard, force a smile and say. "Riiight."
-Stepping on a nail?
General cursing and swearing.
-Eating something disgusting?
He has spend his life eating army food, so he wouldn't give a damn.
-Buying a slave?
Jason wouldn't buy a slave, he wouldn't have the money for it anyway. However there's one case he might buy a slave. That's when there's some attractive human woman for sale, he would buy her, not minding about the gold involved, free her and proclaim himself hero, hoping that the two of them would live long and happily ever after.

Sanya
Spoiler:
-Someone romantically interested in them? It depends. If it was a Death Knight or Forsaken, she would be indifferent. If not, she'd probably kill them.
-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission? Indifference.
-Having a child? She is... not about to have kids anytime soon.
-Friends/family killed? "Finally!"
-Being outsmarted? Plot revenge. It's kind of what she does.
-Being told a bland joke? It wouldn't matter; she wouldn't understand a joke anyhow.
-Stepping on a nail? Notice the nail sticking out of her foot after she's walked a mile, then pull it out with pliars.
-Eating something disgusting? Nothing is too disgusting.
-Buying a slave? To eat.

Kenarith
Spoiler:
-Someone romantically interested in them? Milk it for all it's worth.
-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission? Wonder why the fel she's working for someone else anyhow. Then remember how awesome money is and find another job.
-Having a child? Educate him or her in the ways of rogue-ery. She loves kids.
-Friends/family killed? Track down killers and poison them.
-Being outsmarted? This would never happen, but I'll play along. She would make up a revenge plot so mind-bogglingly complex that the person wouldn't even know what hit them.
-Being told a bland joke? Laugh uproariously. Everything is funny.
-Stepping on a nail? Swear creatively, pull it out, then possibly treat for tetanus.
-Eating something disgusting? If she cooked it herself: "It's not disgusting, it's gourmet!" If someone else cooked it: "**** **** SOMEONE TRIED TO POISON ME **** ***!" Then she'd spit it out and save it to poison people with later.
-Buying a slave? For decoy purposes, entertainment, or as a disposable employee. She's had a lot of the last.

Lene
Spoiler:
-Someone romantically interested in them? If the person was male, she would remind herself that it's the socially acceptable thing, then grit her teeth and bear it. If the person was female, prepare for an epic deer-in-the-headlights moment.
-Having a child? Not bound to happen, ever. She isn't a fan of kids, but she'd raise one as well as possible on principle.
-Friends/family killed? It's happened before. She knows that she'd be throwing her life away trying to 'do justice' in this case. So she pays her respects and does her duty to the race by way of her work.
-Being outsmarted? Be pissed off, but try to hide it.
-Being told a bland joke? Make up a better one and use it tactfully as an example.
-Stepping on a nail? Oh come on, she's cut off two of her fingers before after getting gangrene. She'd probably just cleanse it, patch it up, and forget it.
-Eating something disgusting? "It's vegetables, it's good for you!"
-Buying a slave? To set free later.

See, this is why Kenarith is my favorite.

Calleda Dawnraven:

-Someone romantically interested in them?
She'd tell them off in an annoyed fashion. Despite being a widow she plans on taking the phrase 'Til death do us part" where both partners are dead.
-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
Calleda would probably go on a tirade and then go into a period of sadness, possibly abusing alcohol. She is based on honor and discipline.
-Having a child?
I cannot see Calleda as a mother, but if she was, she'd probably be overprotective and involved too much.
-Friends/family killed?
It depends. If it was a faction, such as the Scourge, she would hold a grudge against them, but not with the same obsession. If she suspects a single person to have killed someone she knows, which has already happened, she will obsess over them and want to rip their bones out and stab them to death with them.
-Being outsmarted?
Impossible. Calleda is omniscient. In seriousness, she'd overreact as usual, probably getting angry at herself for being tricked.
-Being told a bland joke?
Calleda already doesn't care for jokes. She'd just roll her eyes.
-Stepping on a nail?
If it went through her plate boot she'd probably yelp at first. Then she'd probably just remove it and heal herself.
-Eating something disgusting?
Everything to her must be so fabulous. If many foods taste bland to her then when she eats something utterly disgusting it would probably result in her complaining heavily.
-Buying a slave?
She is not a crusader against slavery but she sees no use for them. She'd rather take care of herself.

Daviren:

-Someone romantically interested in them?
Even after twenty years of being separated from her he still intends on staying loyal to his wife. Besides, he has a small capacity for compassion in the first place.
-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
While he would feel dishonored, Daviren would eventually move on, following his own path.
-Having a child?
Daviren does not particularly hate children, but he would rather not be bothered by one in the present time.
-Friends/family killed?
This Death Knight has few that he would particularly care for to develop a vendetta. Rather, if a friend of his died, he would come to terms with it and accept it.
-Being outsmarted?
He would see to it that there would be nothing left of them.
-Being told a bland joke?
It is already difficult to humor him. He'd ignore it.
-Stepping on a nail?
After discovering this nail it would become a new asset to his collection of spikes.
-Eating something disgusting?
The man already drinks blood on a regular basis. It'd be difficult to find something that would make him recoil.
-Buying a slave?
He sees no use for a pathetic being to do mediocre chores. If he did buy a slave he would do it for the pleasure of killing him or her.

I'd say these two characters of mine would react similarly in a couple of situations. Daviren is unfortunately a numb Death Knight. Comes with the profession I suppose.
What a holy person I am...

These remind me a lot of my Friday Fives. I originally posted my response on LFRP, but I'll share here, too!

How would Aliz Bastian react to...

Someone romantically interested in her?
  • Aliz's reaction would depend on the suitor and how he goes about it. While she doesn't necessarily feel her age, the Lordaeron woman is in her late 50s and so may be put off by the amorous (and often clumsy) advances of younger men. She would have no qualms in outright rejecting their attempts -- with her fist, if needed. An experienced and refreshingly direct individual, however, might be more successful!

Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
  • It would depend a lot on how important Aliz feels that the mission is. As a veteran soldier, she could potentially accept the situation with (limited) aplomb and then walk off; as a paladin and (more importantly!) a woman, she may find that her hackles are raised and come back with an angry retort or ten.

Having a child?
  • Given that Aliz is in her late 50s it is unlikely that she will ever be able to do so. However, if she did somehow hook up with someone and then got pregnant, I think that she would be very overwhelmed.

Friends/family killed?
  • As a survivor of Second and Third Wars and as a native to the kingdom of Lordaeron, the loss of friends and family is not something new to her. She mourns their deaths in her own way while keenly feeling their loss. I believe that she is starting to feel burdened by their absence and also the second virtue of the philosophy of the Holy Light: tenacity.

Being outsmarted?
  • Being outsmarted isn't an uncommon occurrence as a soldier. It happens, both on the battlefield and off. While Aliz may let off a string of curses that would make even sailors blush, she'd attempt to learn from the experience and then apply that knowledge in the future.

Being told a bland joke?
  • Aliz would make a deadpan response in the hope of making the attempted-jokester chuckle.

Stepping on a nail?
  • The soldier would react in the expected way: she'd curse, clutch her foot, pull out the nail should it be stuck in her foot, and then continue along her way. Once the immediate problem was resolved, Aliz wouldn't give it any other thought.

Eating something disgusting?
  • Food isn't always good (or even plentiful) on the battlefield; it's typically mass-produced, easily made, and bland -- if one is lucky. As such, Aliz has developed an iron stomach and is capable of eating food without reflecting too much on its taste. If there was other food available, she'd choose to disregard the bad-tasting food; if not, a soldier's got to eat!

Buying a slave?
  • The concept of slavery is an anathema to Aliz, both as an individual and as a devout follower of the path of the Holy Light of Creation. She wouldn't condone the action and may try to directly interfere if there were no immediate ill reactions to her efforts.

Going to try this. First, I have way too many characters. So I'll do four chars.

Umbra

Raphael

Jidaeo

Sanguis

Someone romantically interested in him?

Umbra: If she could beat him up, she wouldn't be interested at all. She's pretty tough, probably the best out of the four in a hand to hand fight.

Raphael: Ha, give her the Kodo, then her friend, then her sister.

Jidaeo: He'd probably romance her, if she was worth it. A charming snake, he'd most likely melt her then remold her to his shape.

Sanguis: Hit and quit, unless she was smart and useful for some sort of profit.

Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
Umbra would be irritated, she's very serious about her work. She was demoted and didn't take it well, she is -still- trying to find strong Kaldorei to join the Lunar Fang

Raphael: Shrug, find a new job. "Oh well" Lights cigar.

Jidaeo: He would be embarrassed and -never- let his pride show it. Depending on the job, if it was small time he'd walk out very smug and asshole like.

Sanguis: /rude gesture

Having a child?
I see Umbra holding the child upside down staring at it, with a :| face for a while. Then eventually warming up to it, and training it as soon as it could stand. She'd probably come out of her mean cacoon and blossum into a caring person she could never show.

Raphael: He'd probably /facepalm and "Oooh Fuuuuuuuuuuuu-" for three days. Then think of names. If it was a boy Raph, Girl by anyone but Shaena. Jean. If the baby was Shaena's... Some other name lol. He'd make sure that he was there for his kid(s) and would want his family to stay together unlike his own.

Jidaeo: Jidaeo would raise his seed into the succession of himself. Son or Daughter they would be a "Mini-Nova" and be trained, raised and expected to be smarter, faster, stronger and better than he was.

Sanguis: Sanguis would probably use his son as fuel to spark his nationalistic rage. "Death to all oppose me, and my son" ( or daughter ) His child would be that much -more- reason to be a fanatical tyrant.
Friends/family killed?
Umbra's father is dead to her. Her brother -did- die, and her mother is still alive. If they were all killed she'd track them down, hiding her presence as much as possible. She'd kill them all before they know what hit them.

Raphael: He'd suit up and march up to them swinging killing as many as he could before he went down.

Jidaeo: would swarm this enemies with the Dawn of Nova and crush whoever killed them in a brutal fashion.

Sanguis: Similiar to Jidaeo, but they would be all elves in red.

Being outsmarted?

Umbra: She would glare and cross her arms. She -may- punch the person.

Raphael: He's been outsmarted before he'd chuckle nervously to throw a tantrum/rage/fight depending on severity.

Jidaeo: Jidaeo brushes hair from his face with his thumb, "Hmph."

Sanguis: Rude gesture. Beyond smart ass comment.

Being told a bland joke?

Umbra would stare at the person in a way that would make them look/feel stupid for -attempting- to tell Umbra a joke.

Raphael: He would probably laugh at the joke because of how bad it was, then laugh at how poor the person was at telling jokes. Then cuss at them smoking, ridiculing them until something else caught his attention.

Jidaeo: He'd blink, brush hair from his face with thumb. Then walk away.

Sanguis: He'd arch an eyebrow, scoff and say "That was horrible"

Stepping on a nail?

Umbra would wince, and become angry with the nail. She'd pull it out and heal her wound. All with a scowl.

Raphael: He'd fall, cuss a lot, pull it out, cuss a lot. pour alcohol on it, cuss more, roll up Fade leaf, smoke it until cussing and pain subsided.

Jidaeo: Wince while walking, notice the nail. Pull it out, glaring and keep walking.

Sanguis: He would cuss and complain, shortly about how this would never happen in Silvermoon, unless it did. And if it did he'd blame it on another race. Or the elves that frequent goblin towns.

Eating something disgusting?

Umbra would have an expression of disapproval but she'd eat it anyway.

Raphael would spit it out, cuss a lot, complain a lot. Wash it down with rum, smoke fade leaf then probably eat it and commend it on it's stellar taste.

Jidaeo: He -only- eats something he likes seeing as he doesn't have to. If he -did- eat something he didn't like. He'd spit it out instantly and try to spit it off of his tongue as much as possible. Elf.

Sanguis: He'd eat it, and then enjoy in the witty ways he'd tell the chef how bad it was.

Buying a slave?

Umbra would buy the slave then set him free but give him the option of training with her, and becoming an ally. She'd make an offer the slave couldn't refuse. She'd be confrontationally persuasive.

Raphael: It depends on the slave, if it was an male alliance member Raph most likely would set the person free unless they were a strong in which he'd train with them. If it was attractive lady, she'd perpetually get the Kodo which would lead to the "Having a Child?" Which he'd name Jean or Raphael.
If it was horde, he'd get them addicted to fade leaf and make them roll him cigars and fetch him drinks. If it was an orc he'd fight with it all the time as well as be his remote control for drugs an alcohol..

Jidaeo: If it was a Sin'Dorei he'd free them but offer them to join the Dawn. Jidaeo could always put a servent to use for any other race, suicide mission, under cover, meat shield.

Sanguis: He'd give them the allusion of freedom but play the -you owe me- card, tricking them back into slavery by their own "free will"

Oh joy. More problems for him. He'd probably ditch her some where in the wilds of Stranglethorn. Then go get a drink

-Being demoted or fired from a job or mission?
Besides the implication that he is dead...
He would now have to deal with that stain on his record. And probably explain to his mercenary superiors why he got fired. Then go get a drink.

-Having a child?
Skip town as soon as possible, after getting a drink. come back fifteen years later, offer to train the child. And as an intoductionary course to life to said child, secretly hire bandits to kill the mother. Then get him and his child a drink.

-Friends/family killed?
Probably. Never went back to Lordaeron to check. Already drank to that problem.

-Being outsmarted?
Stab the bastard. Then go get a drink.

-Being told a bland joke?
Get a drink.

-Stepping on a nail?
Swear profusely. Then get a drink.

-Eating something disgusting?
Get multiple drinks. That might help wash it down.

-Buying a slave?
Release the poor bastard. Then go get a drink.

Not care unless the one killed was Sanya, then he would be too dead to care.

-Being outsmarted?
Stare at the person for a long time before nomming them

-Being told a bland joke?
