Racial Stereo-typing, What Our Characters Can Do
#31
First of all, whoever mentioned Draenei. You make a good point about the wanting to get numbers back up, but you fail to realize that there are many Draenei still alive getting that done, and that in general one child is meant to last longer than a lifetime. The Draenei that aren't in the Exodar are travellers, trying to spread the good will of the Naaru, their culture, their spirit, their good will, and their life. It's bold to say they would be exiled.

Draenei have themselves in a lot of places already. You can find an ambassador sitting next to the leader of the Night elves, whoever my sleep addled mind can not remember the name of.

We also forget one important thing. We all speak of the negative bonds between races that we have, but we fail to see the positive bond the races have with each other. Chances are the person in question would find themselves on the receiving end of a scold, and their lover/confidant/cook/dance partner would be the one in trouble.

Onto the sexist part of this.
When it comes to men, with the exception of possibly Draenei males as they are hardwired to be benevolent, there's not much common sense that can get in the way of their desire for flesh. In turn the only real shame would lie with the women, even though a great number of them act as if they were made by a teenage boy who had no actual idea on how a women reacts towards any given situation. (Joking)
One day we will be allowed to defy logic and reason with our characters.
One day rules will be no more.
One day chaos will reign supreme.
Know that on that day, Illidan and Akama's lovechild will be discovered.
Know that on that day it will be established that male draenei have better child bearing hips.

Gwen'tel: Draenei Paladin. Not too much special.
Rachel Ragefists: Four limbs of gnome flying at your face.
Tsara: It's best not to get into all the things this one is.
Anta: Someone needs a lozenge.
Natalia: A draenei bard with an instrument that doesn't exist for good reasons.

Furthermore, and forgive me for double posting, there is more of an OOC movement against this than IC.

When pinning someone to their actions IC you need more than just your word. You need support. Evidence, other people, etc etc. People think that they simply can shout out warlock (I don't have one, so this is not aimed against anyone who did it to me) and have guards on them. This applies to interfaction relations as well.

This is true of a lot of things...but i digress for reasons unknown.

Simply put... If people were busy IC making there real consequences, instead of OOCly hating it, then there would not be many posts saying "Inter-faction relations shouldn't be happening because this this this and this" there would be more posts saying "People need to stop metagaming" or "People need to stop OOCly hating us" one of the hundreds of other excuses people use when detective work comes into play IC.

Another thing I want to say. You guys are in the vocal minority. No large groups is going to get up in arms against this OOCly to ban it, so do whatever you can IC. Also mind yourself that you're not omniscient, and we're not fighting each other in roleplay. Roleplay is supposed to be teamwork, even if we're fighting each other.

You know, I don't think that just because you have a character that doesn't fit within the norm of the race or faction, you should be shunned OOC. Yes, you will be if you're a Tauren Engineer or something like that, but all in all I don't think that it's such a bad thing, and only ICly. Being made fun of or other wise OOC I think is just wrong, unless there is a definite problem with the character. My character would probably be shunned by my race because I hang out with a couple of Alliance people. So being different isn't bad, but that's not to say that EVERYONE should be different either. You need the stereo-types to set things straight.

I think that people abuse the, "unique" "not following the norm" "snowflake" excuse wayy too often. I will give you an example.

Prior to the restart(The original one) I had a nelf who not only dated a human, but a belf and had a best friend who was a trolls It was my way of being unique, and an easy way of doing it. I had GMs scolding me and telling me that it was bad RP. I was pissed of about it. I mean, if you look in Rensin's guide to interracial relationships, you can see it.

But after taking a step back, taking their advise, I really grew as a role player. I decided the only way my characters would really do something like that is with just cause.

Then, I had Jean. She was in a horrible boat crash with a large amount of people for a week or so. There she almost died, and was saved by two trolls. Their bond was something that few people would understand. But they saved her life and she owed them kindness because of it. Does this mean she will go around loving on trolls? Hell no. She hated the race still. Hell, two belves healed her multiple times, but their attitudes towards her, if anything, made her hate the race more.

And that is it. If you have a reason, and act upon it with a like...I unno, common sense? It will be okay OOCly, but if you keep doing, hur dur normal iz borin, many people will be put off.

I do think the horde and Alliance should hate each other more though. Or have it visually represented in RP a little more.

If I was allowed to RP some sort of high-rank in the Horde there would be battles...

But alas...
