No High Elf Forsaken?
#16
Not sure, but it does seem odd to me. I once asked to play a Dwarf Forsaken, but he was a Death Knight (I was figuring out a history.) I was told no simply because if you can't be it on retail (The Standard Races and Classes) you can't be it here. I think it just kills off RP, IMO. Just the sheer fact that you have to talk to a GM on being a Wildhammer (Unless that has changed) still gets at me.

But a High Elf Forsaken is no different the a Troll or Orc or Tauren who is part of a different clan or tribe that is not the majority of said faction. It's practically the same for humans, 'any nation just come on in'. Seems a tad odd that half of the Forsaken are banned from playing.

@Ben; Human Mages were, yes, trained by the High Elves... about a thousand years ago. Who says that Humans haven't made their own advancements? Besides it is always nice to play a character with a different background that "Oh I am just a dead human.. Yup, grew up in some piss hole town that is nothing more then the materials for some scourge war machines." Boo-Frickety-Hoo.
Secondly the alliance thing.. Did the fact that the Forsaken of Lordaeron are Human who were staunch supporters of the Alliance not do anything on the whole tension thing you mentioned with only the high-elves? :/

That's my two or three cents.
Do you have what it takes to join the Fighting Blues?
Do you have what it takes to defend your homeland?
Will you stand up in defense of the innocent? The weak?
Will you stand up in defense of Justice and the Law?

One, we're not playing a high elf. We're just saying we used to be a high elf. Just like a blood elf puts in their profile that they grew up in Silvermoon as a high elf, we're putting in that we were a forsaken that grew up as a high elf. When you become a forsaken you LOSE all abilities you had, why? Because nature doesn't respond to you, you lost all your abilities, you lose the addiction of mana and just have Forsaken attributes. Your eyes don't still glow blue. It's the same EXACT concept as blood elves, just a different path. Instead of LIVING and becoming blood elves. They DIED and became forsaken. Forsaken can be either, or. Humans or High elves. 90% of all High Elves died by the Scourge. The bulk of Forsaken are more high elf then humans.

I have to go with Spiralin and the pro-crowd on this one. The fact that you were a High Elf doesn't change that you're a forsaken. It's purely for history. It's not like you'd have to go around "I'm a high elf!" Because you aren't. You're a forsaken. It is true that banning High Elf forsaken is the same as banning Blood Elves. Because they'd be the same thing. Ex-high Elf. Because you see the rule is forbidding high elves, not ex-high elves.

Basically, I see nothing to restrict the allowance of High Elf Forsaken. I actually see much to support allowing them, or, if not allowing them, then the banning of Blood Elves. Just sayin'.

Quote:We know there are still High Elves, but you will not be able to convince us to allow you to have one. Period.

You are asking if you can play a dead High Elf. High Elves are not allowed, no matter what their current state is.

Death Knight High Elves are not allowed.
High Elves aligned with the Blood Elf faction are not allowed.
Undead High Elves are not allowed.
Living High Elves are not allowed.

Being an undead that just -happened- to be a High Elf is odd. Why? Because you could simply roll an undead that was once a human, and there would be little change to his or her character.

It's mostly a model thing.

Also, I've heard that server policy is to bar players from being High Elves in any form that isn't Sin'dorei.

You do realize, Xigo, that saying High Elves aligned with the Blood Elf faction is saying Blood Elves aren't allowed, right?

No, Muhaha, he's saying that you can't be a High Elf in Silvermoon.

But slightly fel-corrupted High Elves are allowed?

Tbh, the way this is going, it should be a GM suggestion thread. The question was asked, it was answered: it is NOT currently allowed due to the server rules stating as such.

All this blabber about Blood Elves and such, does it really even matter? Has it ever affected RP in the past?

You CAN'T be a High Elf, they have a different model to Blood Elves, if you got a problem with that, go cry to Blizzard about the way they made their game, and lore. High Elven Forsaken would most likely appear like the Broken, and less like current Forsaken models. As a result, a new model would be needed, leading to a new race. Which has been stated is not going to happen. So...tough.

Spiralin Wrote:So I was just wandering around, about a month ago I was told High Elf Forsaken were okay, now I heard that Grakor said they weren't okay. I was always under the impression they were, since on the wiki they give height measurements for high elf forsaken. So what's the deal? I think they should be allowed playable, but I just want to get to the bottom of this contradiction.

He did? Well, Skaar is a High Elven Forsaken. An approved one, might I add. If we couldn't play those, how would one even achieve the Dark Ranger Prestige Title?

I am going to be blunt on this. High Elves and Blood Elves are no longer the same race. Anything High elf is not playable. Blood Elves are playable. It is nothing too complex of a thing here.

High Elf Forsaken aren't High Elven, either. They are a new race. Denoting them as High Elven is stating their heritage. As in, they WERE High Elven, but are now Forsaken. Blood Elves WERE High Elven, but now are Blood Elves.

I always figured it'd be completely fine, my reason being this:

The Height Page

There's two sections for Undead here; The height for a human Forsaken, and that of a High Elf. Since they made such a distinction, and it was on -our- wiki, it just seems like fair game to me...

Oh yeah, and for those of you who are saying that we aren't allowed to play High Elves...again, they WERE High Elves in LIFE! They are DEAD. They are now Forsaken. We aren't asking to be labeled as a High Elf, but as a Forsaken of High Elven ancestry and heritage.
