New Policy Regarding Character Deaths and Maiming
#1
In light of recent situations, a new policy has been put in place regarding Character Deaths and Maiming:

Quote:If you place your character in a dangerous situation, and someone in the area warns you, you may leave the area IC'ly. If you do not, you are consenting to being killed. Period, end of story.

But please, keep to your character. Don´t go somewhere he wouldn´t, don´t flee if he wouldn´t and don´t fight if he wouldn´t.

A warning; People placing themselves near Alistus or his "friends" will be in danger, there is a high chance that the before mentioned people (Alistus and his "friends") will try to kill any "trespasser." If not attacked and killed they will likely try to capture you, wen captured you cannot count on any longevity for your character.

Alistus spends most of his time in Duskwood, so enter at your own risk.

This is said in "eye-catching" colours so that you won´t miss it. I will repeat, going near Alistus or his associates will endanger your character.

Edit; And I´m sorry for double posting, just wanted to make sure people saw this. Easier if it appears as a new post.

But if they don't warn you you are dead?

What happens when, the aggressor (The end that WAS warned), through roll or emotes comes out victorious in any dispute? Does the defender (The one who was doing the warning) ALSO consent to In-character player death or maiming automatically?

If it's a duel to the death, then it's a duel to the death both ways. This goes for any dangerous situation, so that means any fighting, too. If your character thinks they're going to be killed, and it's IC for them to run, then run. If it's not IC for them to run, no matter which side you're on, you're committing yourself to that.

The one problem I have with fights to the death is that there's no system in place that determines the possible gap in skill between the two fighters (and no, I have no idea how such a system would work either, if it's even possible). I have absolutely no problem with, for example, Jonathan meeting his maker as long as it is a legit death. But let's say a day-old player rolls a character and I find myself in a situation where it's either him or Jon - do I want to lose the character I've been playing for a really long time due to some unlucky rolls? Just to have the guy quit/roll a new character a week after?

You can choose your roll range, 1-50, 1-100 etc, We could have an age-range system? So while the 1 day old guy has 1-25, although you CAN lose, it would still be very difficult, and then when you get, maybe approved, it's 1-50, then 1-100 when you get vouched and Approved?

I think it should be judged case by case, for an example someone really skilled in a certain weapon might get a bonus to his attack rolls but maybe a slight decrease to his defense. That was just an example of course, things like surpise and such could pretty easily be taken into account this way. It is most importantly however that all affected participants agree to the system etc.

Personally I wouldn´t mind Alice be killed of by a new guy. As long as the RP is good. If I see that the "enemy" is god-modding, meta-gaming or a really bad role-player I will just end the scene as quickly as possible. I will also avoid the other person if I can, which shouldn´t be too hard.

Yeah I guess you're right, maybe I came off as a little too elitist which wasn't my intention.
